  1. Lol. 3 current expressway lanes in each direction, and there will be 6 expressway lanes in each direction when it's complete. It'll be pretty damn close to the Katy Freeway, but I wasn't attempting to mislead anyone that it was going to be an exact replica. And if you think the toll lanes will be unused you haven't been paying attention. Oh, one other thing. Your taxes aren't being used to build the 4 toll lanes, Chief. CTRMA is going to issue a half billion dollars or so of bonds to pay for those. Bonds which the people paying tolls will pay off. Those same people paying the tolls, which paid for the lanes they're driving on, are no longer clogging up your precious "free lanes". Everyone wins. But I know...."Tolls are bad!!!!"
  2. And for the road warriors, Austin has experienced unprecedented expressway investment for the last 15-20 years, and the next decade is going to bring even more. I-35 is finally going to be rebuilt, 290 West through Oak Hill is gonna finally get done, and 183 North is gonna get the Katy Freeway treatment. Its time to put some real money towards transit in this city. Transit that doesn't clog up or get stuck in traffic, or sit through traffic lights. It's time to put on your big boy britches, Austin.
  3. Potential solution to Austin's homeless situation if you ask me.
  4. Yeah, around 850' vs around 700' for Jenga. It's 3 blocks further north so that may have something to do with it not looking 150' taller, or the rendering is just not accurate.
  5. Not. Going. To. Happen. After Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas A&M bolted this conference was a dead man walking. Only Texas and Oklahoma together in the conference can keep it on life support, but hardly thriving. When one of them decides to bolt to greener pastures, this bitch is deader than a doornail. It's only a matter of time, and I hope the powers that be aren't complacent. I would like to think the next conference affiliation is the last conference affiliation.
  6. Wait, I get not wanting to go the Pac12, but what the hell is wrong with a pod setup? In my opinion it's the only way you can have decent scheduling in a 16 team league. Oh, and fuck you too bitch!
  7. I think adding Texas and Oklahoma, along with Tech and Okie State would help sort out those issues.
  8. PAC 16 is our future. Texoma pod Texas Oklahoma Texas Tech Oklahoma State Mountain West pod Colorado Arizona Utah Arizona State California pod USC Stanford UCLA Cal Northwest pod Washington Oregon Washington State Oregon State 9 regular season conference matchups in a 3+2+2+2 configuration. The pod champions play in a 4 team playoff to determine the conference champion. Of course the SEC, Big 10, and ACC would all need to also go to a 16 team conference with four, 4 team pods with the same conference champion playoff to make it work. Then the four conference champions would of course have the 4 team playoff to determine the National Championship. With 3 OCC games, 9 conference matchups, and the maximum of 4 playoff games you're still only looking at 16 games in a season which I believe is reasonable. I believe this would be an ideal setup, and be freaking awesome!

  12. I'm not sure what EPA is, but in the stats I see he had a better 2019 season than in 2018.
  13. Austin needs a West Campus type district for non-students. A place we can throw up a bunch of 18 story non-luxury apartment buildings. A place near downtown, where you can comfortably live without a car, and yet not pay $1800+ for a 1 bedroom. East Riverside is the most likely location for such a place, especially after the approval of "Domain on Riverside", and Oracle's continuing expansion.
  14. That's not so dissimilar from how they used to deal with vagrancy not so long ago. I know it's extremely un-PC, but I think we need to bring back some of the old, unenlightened ways. Maybe, just maybe they knew what the hell they were doing.
  15. I hope I am incorrect, but I am starting to wonder if APD is staying as hands off as possible regarding complaints about the homeless. Ridiculously long response times, and not chasing perps after violent attacks does not seem like they're doing their jobs to protect and serve. Certainly there wouldn't be official policy for shirking their duty, but I wonder if this could be a similar situation to where cops allegedly don't patrol or respond to calls in certain extremely high crime neighborhoods in some cities. The police just say fuck em, I'm not dealing with that shit. Hopefully that's not the case, and there are valid reasons for hour long response times, and not pursuing violent attackers.
  16. Oh, and what really makes it wonderful is the homeless who sleep in the stairwells, loiter in businesses, etc. know APD's response time is about an hour or so when called regarding a homeless person refusing to leave the premises. They simply refuse to leave, and are hostile with no threat of consequence. It has a feeling of lawlessness.
  17. I'm ordinarily not particularly reactionary, but something really does need to be done about the homeless situation in Austin. Not only has the number and visibility of homeless skyrocketed over the last 5 years or so, but the number of seemingly deranged homeless is what is concerning. I work downtown, and between those resembling staggering, lifeless zombies, and those in a state of psychosis screaming at the top of their lungs into the ether it has begun to feel dangerous.
