  1. @Drew we’re -110 favorites to win the division next year. Nobody else has better than +300 odds. We’re the overwhelming favorites to win the worst division in football because of our qb advantage. But again, we haven’t won the division when we were supposed to win the division since 2007.
  2. It’s like Drew hasn’t followed this team for the last 25 years. Have we ever actually won the division when we’re expected to win the division? 2007 was the last time that happened, right? Every time we win the division, we have little to no expectations. We don’t do shit when we have expectations.
  3. They can’t miss and we can’t hit a single shot. Gonna be a long night
  4. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Cause we know these tackles aren’t going to stay healthy. Tackle is as big of a need as anything on defense... Seeing the chargers at 32 makes Justin Herberts year that much more impressive.
  5. Jesus David Helman is so corny sometimes. “Let’s boogie”
  6. I don’t think there’s any question we’re letting Gallup walk. LVE is tricky. Someone mentioned maybe they should try to sign him long term at an injury risk discount right now. I don’t think that’s the worst idea idea in the world.
  7. I think baker is better than you’re giving him credit for. At least when OBJ isn’t on the field for some unexplainable reason. I mean, you’re not wrong. I expect that’s how it’ll play out. Washington has a better coach than us and they’re just a qb away. NYG has a good defense, and if they finally stop fucking around and give daniel Jones a real life number one wr, they could unlock him. I bet Kenny Golladay goes to the giants.
  8. And this is the main argument against the rebuilding narrative that I kept throwing out and why it just doesn’t make sense to do it right now. We have no good excuse to miss the playoffs next year.
  9. Here I was talking shit about how nobody is taking arguments from 2018-2019 (before Kellen Moore was his offensive coordinator), and now one of the mods of surly is taking a list from before the 2019 season to back his argument. JFC. Like I said, man. If you don’t think the guy is above average there’s no point in even talking about this. Also, if we equate your tiers list to 2021, there’s probably 4 qbs that are in your tier one. Maybe 5 if you want to throw Watson into that mix. But qbs 6-12ish all fall in that tier 2.
  10. I actually agree with your point about tannehill. But if you don’t even think Dak is an above average qb, there’s really no point in engaging in a debate. Your definition of average must be different than my definition of average when it comes to starting qbs in the nfl.
  11. The real lesson is do one of two things. Get lucky with a reclamation project like the Titans did with tannehill, or find a way for Dak to drop his girl and date someone who makes more than everyone in the NFL like Giselle. Or just hope Dak continues to improve and accept that this is the going rate for a top 10 qb. The only somewhat valid argument is that we shouldn’t have paid him because of how far away we are from being a contender. With the coach we have, the contracts we have, and the roster we have, we might be more than 3-4 years away from truly contending. But saying “he doesn’t deserve that kind of money” isn’t a valid argument. He does deserve that kind of contract. He’s proven he’s a franchise qb. It’s just, MAYBE we shouldn’t have been that team to pay him. If a team that was a qb away gave him that kind of money, nobody would bat and eye. We just have to pray to the football gods we can actually draft good defensive players.
  12. I swear you twist my words almost as bad as drew if I don’t say something that lines up with exactly what you’re saying. I’m not even dissing Dak when I made my original point. The main point that I was making was ever since Kellen Moore took over 3 fucking years ago, he’s one of the best in the league with air yards. Remember where this started. Vic was making a ridiculous call back to something that nobody has said about Dak in over 3 years. You then said he’s never been a check down qb at any point in his career. I then gave you two years where he checked down a ton, one of which where he checked down probably more than any competent starting qb. Checking down does not equate to bad unless that’s how you feel like spinning it. I swear, man. Some of y’all ride Daks dick so hard you pick and choose what you want to hear without thinking about context. I am not disagreeing with you regarding Dak and the caliber of qb he is. You’re arguing against facts and you’re getting defensive that I literally gave you a stat that refutes your “he’s never been a check down qb” claim lol. I bet if you asked Dak, he’d say “earlier in my career I should’ve thrown downfield more”
  13. @Drew I don’t know if you realize this but you don’t have to quote 4-6 people every time you post. Certain things you can just... let go. And to you and @Catdaddyhorn ‘s point, I actually agree with y’all about why he was checking down. But the facts are, those years he was checking down a shit ton. Was it Linehan/Garrett influence? Was it not having a true number one for 7 games that year? Was it injuries to Tyron smith? Was it all of the above? Probably. My only point was don’t tell me he didn’t check down a lot when he was 21st and 16th in the league in air yards those years. We can talk about the why all day if we want. My ORIGINAL point was that he’s now one of the leaders in the league in air yards because of Kellen Moore’s influence. That change at offensive coordinator was a big part of unlocking Dak’s potential, and there’s probably only one cowboys fan alive who’s dumb enough to not understand that. He just so happens to be in this thread.l constantly spewing 3 year old takes that weren’t entirely inaccurate at the time (excuses and all).
  14. Damn. Kinda assumed they’d tag him. That’s definitely going to change the dynamic of their offense if he isn’t there.
  15. He knew the fish would be biting after Dak signed. He didn’t even need to put bait on the hook, but he did it anyway just to make sure.
  16. Haha Fair enough. Just saying you gotta use the right stat if you’re gonna make an argument like that. Romo got 65 yards for this attempt on his yards per attempt average for the season
  17. In 2017 he was 21st in the league in average air yards per attempt at 6.3 yards. In 2018, immediately after the year we “should have paid him” he was 16th at 7.5 air yards per attempt. 2016 was a magical year. If he kept trending up from there he would’ve won an MVP by now. I think even futureman was 100% all in on Dak after 2016 just like every other cowboys fan. Also, FYI, air yards is the stat you’re looking for when talking about throwing down field. Not yards per attempt.
  18. No, he’s right. Ever since Kellen Moore took over in 2019 Dak hasn’t been a check down passer. Before then, Dak played it safer a lot more often. Vic is going back to takes that are over 1000 days old
  19. Football gods, I don’t ask for much. Is it really asking too much for LVE to return to form, Diggs to take the next step, Galimore and Wilson improve, and we draft 1-2 players that can help us next year on defense? It is, isn’t it? Defensive players on the cowboys are only allowed to regress. Asking for them to improve is just asking too much.
  20. Yeah well fuck you, bro. I’m not dumb. You’re dumb. But I definitely don’t fully understand how the salary cap works in the NFL like I do with the NBA, and I follow the NFL a lot closer than I follow the NBA.
  21. Regardless of where you stand in this whole debate, this is just fucking hilarious...
  22. Lol Vic doesn’t realize that you tend to get pressured more when you hold on to the ball and try to throw down field haha. He thinks it’s all just the oline’s fault. It’s laughable. Kellen Moore likes throwing downfield. He’s helped turn Dak into a much better player. But you’ll never understand that.
  23. I agree with all of this for the most part. The only logical argument behind letting him walk would’ve been to just dive head first into a true rebuild. Trading assets for top 50 picks, securing a top 5 pick, etc. We haven’t really done that in a long time. But I don’t trust jerruh and Stephen to make that work, and jerruh is too old to have the patience for a true rebuild.
