  1. I got the Gibson Southern Jumbo deluxe in and it’s great. I’ll be checking it out for awhile, but my initial impression is that it’s gonna be a keeper*. * guarantee limited to 2 week term
  2. Bender had sex with both of them.
  3. I don't think its that they don't see his crimes, I think its that they see "the system" as a rigged sham. Crimes are just violations of rules. Rules that they feel are unjust and capricious and designed to keep them down. In that worldview, the crime is that rules exist in the first place.
  4. Dorkdom's Wallow will be my metal band's name.
  5. tl;dr @F250 is the Harvey Weinstein of Surlyhorns and has AIDS.
  6. I think what the internet and social media allows is for them to form groups, become organized, and be collectively influenced by agitators to take action. Comic book guy used to just sit in his room geeking out over comics. Maybe he was friends with a couple other comic book nerds. They might be like, "Damn, I wish I could get laid." But that's where it kind of stopped. Now you have large pods of comic book guys coalescing into groups online. Those groups have overlap. And as the people in these online communities get to talking, they start to wonder wtf they aren't all getting Batman level's of pussy. It becomes an echo chamber of sexual disenfranchisement. At that point, they are ripe for conversion from being a support group of sexually frustrated geeks to being a motivated force for taking action and striking out against their perceived nemesis. It just takes the right messaging and view of events to set them off. That's a pattern happening with conspiracy theorists, racists, incels, anti-vaxxers, environmentalists, BLM, #metoo and other groups. Some of them are righteous causes that have been corrupted or coopted, either wholly or in specific instances. Collectively, its all leading to a growing sense of societal malaise and erosion of faith in our institutions and each other. Its a problem that no one is effectively combatting, maybe not even trying. Efforts seem more focused on adding groups of angry, scared and motivated followers to your political tribe.
  7. I added one of these Jackson Audio Bloom compressors about a week ago, and I really, really, really dig it. Its kind of a combination compressor. booster/sustainer and 3 band EQ. You can activate any combination of the 3 with the 2 footswitches. The compressor has different modes for different styles like chickin pickin, funk, slide, etc... This defines some unadjustable compression settings like attack and decay, then you have knobs to control the amount of compression and the blend of your dry signal. The bloom knob & switch is the booster/sustainer and you can change how it fades in to your signal. I haven't used the EQ yet, but I could see using it to offset differences between guitars while keeping an amp dialed in. Finally, its quiet as fuck and so usable in a recording context. I have a strong feeling this is going to be one of those always on pedals.
  8. Love that finish color/faded burst.
  9. Eh, I'll wait for AOC's or Boebert's outrage before I start white knitting over a photo that is obviously fake and not them. Also, we're all on a forum with a section titled "I'd pee in her butt", so there is a certain amount of sexist/toxic male behavior that you accept and tolerate with your presence on surlyhorns.
  10. https://www.forbes.com/sites/brittanyanas/2023/09/21/elon-musks-tesla-supercharger-diner-and-drive-in-theater-coming--to-route-66/?sh=7ce2df8f4da2 Elon Musk’s Tesla ‘Supercharger Diner And Drive-In Theater’ Coming To Route 66 Tesla is getting close to opening its first-ever entertainment-centric supercharging station—a 24-hour diner and drive-in theater in Los Angeles that will play famous movie clips on a big screen while drivers wait for their EVs to charge. Elon Musk’s Tesla retro-futuristic supercharging station is being built on Santa Monica Boulevard, which is West Hollywood’s stretch of the historic Route 66. Last month, Musk, the co-founder and CEO of Tesla Motors, revealed some details of the charging station saying “Our Tesla futuristic diner (Grease meets The Jetsons with Supercharging) in LA should be ready later this year.”
  11. It only really gets uncomfortable when you are related to the someone's head on a pr0n star's body and you fap to it anyway.
  12. Now there is a "both sides" argument I can get behind.
  13. What I don't get is why anyone really gives a shit? I mean, I get protesting against the Vietnam War in the U.S. You or someone you know might get drafted and die in a foolish, lost war. I get protesting in support of BLM in the U.S. You or someone you know might get pulled over and murdered by the police. I don't get protesting for/against Israel or Palestine in the U.S. None of these people are affected by what's going on half a globe away. I get some may view acts by one side or the other as evil, and that it may even be correct. But even so, what the fuck is all this going to accomplish? How is this going to impact anything going on in Gaza? If all these universities divest from Israel tomorrow, is Israel even going to notice? No. The holocaust gives Israel an apocalyptic world view and they do not fuck around when it comes to their security. There is no way they would allow themselves to be in a position where they could be brought to their knees by US universities redirecting endowment investments. It just seems like everyone, from students to University Presidents to Governors to police would have a lot more proximal problems to be concerned about that they might actually have a chance to positively affect. Which makes me think this isn't about Israel or Gaza at all, rather about the theatrics of civil unrest on college campuses in an election year.
  14. Just so you don't feel alone, I catch my Strat's volume knob all the time. I'll be halfway through a blistering solo when all the sudden I'm at half volume, the crowd applauds, someone shouts "Thank GOD he's finished" and the rest of the band quits glaring at me and starts playing again. I've yet to actually catch the pickup selector, though. The volume knob is an effective blocker, I guess.
  15. Yeah, I like southern jumbos, my brother has one and its very nice. @Celery Man the gibson southern jumbos, J-45 and J-50 are all mostly the same guitar, with slight variations in appointments and maybe square vs slope shoulders. All of them have these specs in common: 24 3/4" scale length 1.725" nut width 4.75" body depth 16" lower bout width Mahogany body Spruce top Southern jumbos and J-50's don't have the cachet of a J-45 and usually show up a bit cheaper on the used market, but they are basically the same guitar in terms of what plays a role in what you hear. I don't know how all that compares to a Gibson Hummingbird. That's awesome. You've needed an acoustic for too long!
  16. 1977 Gibson Southern Jumbo Country Western from a very motivated seller on Reverb. I’ve not received or played it yet, so we’ll see how good it is and if it sticks to me, but it was a very good flippable price. I’m hoping it’s great and gives me the big body Gibson to go with my little body Martin.
  17. the revolution will not be televised catered.
