  1. Joining the fray again with a 4 part big proggy piece in the vein of early-to-mid 70s Genesis, Yes and Pink Floyd. The song is called "Gemini" and its about the estrangement and dissolution of the twins and what their existence afterwards might be like. Its meant to be an allegory for what's going on in this country where so many of our constituent citizens are actively working to sever the ties that bind us. This one is different for me as I wrote lyrics and I'm giving singing a go (I suck). I've got the lyrics and piano composition done end to end, and things laid out with scratch piano, vocals and drums. @sidis is going to give me a better piano track throughout (though I imagine some of it shifts to organs or synths) and a drummer friend is going to let me kick the AI drummer to the curb. I've already laid the bass throughout. Now I'm going back and fleshing out each part/verse. I don't know whether I am going to be able to pull off the vocals I want to hear, so I may enlist help there at some point. Anyway, things are coming together for the first part/verse after adding some acoustic guitar and a solo to close it out, so I figure I'd share. There is no real mixing done here yet, though I have thrown some EQ and effects on some of the tracks. @jimmyjazz you might be interested in the vocal recording, as its the first thing I've recorded with your mic recommendation -- the Lauten LA-220. I don't really know what I am doing as far as working with mics and recording vocals, so if it sucks, that is probably why. Any thoughts/feedback appreciated. Full lyrics for the song spoilered below:

  3. Ted Nugent, Travis Tritt and Kid Rock should form a supergroup called "Rage Against the Voting Machine".
  4. No, he should make it like a real cat and shit and piss all outside the litter box.
  5. Last guitar my brother wants to buy is an ES-355 black beauty like this. I played one at Wildwood for him and it was glorious, but he hemmed and hawed on price and then it was gone. May have to buy one for him someday.
  6. Guy I know up here in the Colorado boonies apparently knows Joe Bonamassa and appreciates his music money.
  7. Petition to change OU fight song from “Boomer Sooner” to “Boozer Loser.”

  12. We got a shelter in place order from the sheriff's office over this one. He apparently shot killed 3 people in a neighboring county, fled here, went to our Walmart, bought a bunch of shit, took off... They have no idea where he is now. CUSTER COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - The search for a homicide suspect in southern Colorado is still underway Tuesday morning. Around 1 p.m. Monday, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a shooting at 173 Rocky Ridge Road, in a remote area eight miles northeast of Westcliffe, close to the Fremont County line. The first deputy arrived on the scene about 25 minutes later. “The shooting happened in a wooded area. We entered kind of at a high risk and checked to see if there’s any survivors,” said Custer County Sheriff Rich Smith. Before 9 pm. Monday, the Custer County Sheriff confirmed to 11 News three people were dead, including two men and a woman. A fourth person, a woman, was seriously injured and was airlifted to a Colorado Springs hospital. At the last update, that victim is expected to survive.
  13. One of my top 3 favorite guitarists, but I'm gonna let someone else take his guitars.
  14. You may have already gotten your auto-wah/envelope filter, @jimmyjazz, but I am pretty happy with this. Relatively inexpensive and does what it does while taking up minimal space on a board. I tried a DOD envelope filter first and didn't like it as it came with a lot of noise. This doesn't have that problem.
  15. Next time someone is in the market for a new piece of gear, try this… Find the make/model you want on reverb, watch all the listings. You’ll get offers from sellers at a 10-15% discount, aggressively negotiate them down as far as you can but screen shot every offer from them. When they finally say fuck you and break off negotiations, email the screen shot of your best offer to your Sweetwater rep and ask if they can beat the offer. They will match it and might beat it by up to 5%. Then buy it from Sweetwater for the best customer service and return policy available at the lowest possible price.
  16. The obvious solution is to adopt the mind set we had last night regarding officiating (don’t give a fuck), win the next two games, and leave this shit ass conference to drown in our wake.
  17. Clyde says, "Bitch, you better give me those gummies or imma have to go all silverback gorilla on your ass."
  18. Smells Like Teen Middle Aged Spirit Cool rehearsal space.
  19. That's why I left the plastic on that spells out wtf all that shit does
  20. The pbass found a home, outside of here. Re: an overabundance of knobs, I think the pbass was about right for a studio bass. With the two pickups and all the blending and boosting as well as cutting, you could get just about any tone you might imagine out of it. I imagine anything more would rapidly run into diminishing returns for the complexity. But live, I never touched the knobs, really. Just set it during a quick sound check and the promptly forgot they existed.
