  1. I didn't even finish the first episode yet. Or maybe I did. Can't even remember if I did. Does it get better? Tell me it gets better.
  2. So basically, Trumps an aggy.
  3. It should. But it won’t. Trumps hard core supporters see these kids as ‘animals.’ They shouldn’t have committed the crime of crossing the border illegally.
  4. Trump also supported better background checks, raise the age to purchase guns and other gun reform. What happened to that? He’s full of hot air. There will be no actual progress on it unless it benefits him.
  5. That's what they get for being born brown and in a poor violent country. They committed a crime trying to come to America. Too bad so sad. 'Merica!
  6. Think we get a special three day weekend Friday afternoon news dump?
  7. And it's not that easy to get an appointment, even with insurance. These counselors are booked. I have insurance and want my son to see someone but the 3 people I've contacted so far have no openings. So not only do we need parents willing to see that their kids need someone to talk and to make it an affordable options somehow, we need more professionals in the area of children.
  8. Those are perfectly reasonable and I think a majority of the country would support these restrictions but the problem is that no one in congress is willing to come to the table and talk about some simple solutions. And by no one, I mean those that are in the NRA's pocket.
  9. Not to mention that some schools can barely pay their teachers much less help teachers pay for supplies. So all of a sudden everyone is going to be happy to pay higher taxes to pay for all this. This is all so stupid. All these hoops we're supposed to jump through to make schools safer but people refuse to even consider the easiest solution that would have the most immediate impact because god forbid we make it slightly harder for you to get a gun.
  10. It fixed itself for now. I won't bother fixing it, I think it's lived it's best life already. The fun part will be getting someone to take it once I do replace it. Ex picked it out cause he thought it was cool looking and I loathe it but it has worked all this time. Movers get a kick out of seeing it since it's so different looking.
  11. This wall I can support.
  12. And then what? The Republican stooges in congress will suddenly grow a spine and say he's gone too far?
  13. Is this at thing? Do we always create military coins for meetings with other countries? And it's a bit presumptive to create these things ahead of time.
  14. I hope counselors and psychologist are included in the money needed to "secure" our schools because having to go to school in a prison is going to fuck with some kids heads.
  15. The difference is that minority kids don't feel entitled to the American Dream. They don't think it's a right owed to them unlike some white males. Men are taught to hold in emotions, be strong, be smart and if you don't have a girlfriend or you aren't the popular jock, you're a loser. So they hold in some pent up aggression and anger without a way of letting it out.
  16. I hate it too. My kids shouldn't go to school in a prison. And I would feel very very uncomfortable if teachers are armed, even if they are licensed to do so.
  17. I've never been a "ban all guns" person but seeing this happen over and over, I'm getting there. You're right to own a gun should not supersede the right of children to feel safe going to school or to the mall or the movies or a concert. This broke my heart. She assumed it would eventually happen at her school and it did. Read something after one of the other shootings how white male entitlement could be a factor. Why is it usually white males?
  18. I guess I hit a nerve? Sorry, it's not East Texas.
  19. *shrug* It's east of Austin so East Texas to me.
  20. It's East Texas, his buddies will showing up shortly with confederate flags.
  21. Oh well, then never mind. Let's not get angry and frustrated about kids getting murdered at school and we don't need to try to come up with a solution.
  22. Oh for sure, but I can admit my kid wasn't great. I mean, she can play the game but she's no Mia Hamm. And she just happens to be around when her MS/HS is on an upswing of talent, they won state last year.
  23. I would look at what the programs are like at the Middle School and High School he will be attending. Depending on how competitive they are he may or may not need to focus on one sport or up his training in both. At some schools being decent will get you on the team in MS and at some you have to be really good to make the team. In our district, at one middle school anyone with athletic ability could make the girls soccer team. At the middle school two miles away, even some girls who have played select for several years did not make the team. It sucks. My daughter went to the more competitive school. She liked playing soccer but she's not really select level. So once she didn't make the team in MS, she was pretty much done with soccer. She would have loved to play and letter in Soccer but her skills just aren't there. Just one of the things that sucks about living in an area where kids have been playing since they were 5 and parents shell out $$ to have them trained. Kids that do it just for fun get left behind.
