I think you know given the chance, Texas would have picked the B1G over the Sec, whose football is no longer boring because it adopted an offensive style of play popularized by the conference being abandoned by virtually everybody.

Would not surprise me as our school leaders have made a lot of dipshit moves with respect to athletics.

I read the article, it stated otherwise - if the opinion doesn’t cite it ok.  The issue is this MASTER PRECDENT that allows conservatives to do as they please.  That’s where we are headed. But other than that I don’t need to talk to you. I didn’t come here to engage with you, you’re the problem.

That article is extremely misleading and attempts to hide what the case is about.  It is about a law that bans minors from receiving puberty blockers and having their genitalia surgically altered.

The Alabama court did not cite anything.  The case is pending and one of the litigants cited Dobbs in their briefing.

Found her public record. She's got lots of info out there (29 different addresses, multiple cells phones, some (still active) FL corp named "Galaxy Brand Management, Inc." that I'm sure is totally above-board, and no education records - which usually means HS dropout), but no criminal history. Even checked PACER. So if there was a felony/fraud charge, must have been dismissed or (more likely) expunged.

    Not even a Mopery charge?

Took less than a week for a court to use the Dobbs rational for other culture war issues - Alabama Supreme Court cited Dobbs as the reason why the State can deny gender affirming care - because such care isn’t deeply rooted in our nations history.

(the court also lied and said there wasn’t consensus about medical treatment - you know kind of like evolution is just a theory and climate change is natural an ice age is coming soon too whackadoo conservative thought)

put aside the debate about should minors get affirming care - which we’ve had on this issue - There is not one progressive cause past or present that is “deeply rooted in our nations history” when the starting point for our history says IN OUR FUCKING CONSTITUTION THAT BLACK MEN ARE 3/5 OF A HUMAN AND IMPLICITLY WITHOUT SAYING IT WOMEN OF ANY COLOR ARE 0/5 HUMAN.

the Supreme Court is a council of Baptist Deacons, except they don’t just pass the plate around for money and scowl at you if you don’t pay they can take your life liberty and pursuit of happiness away from you because yours isn’t deeply rooted in our nations history.

we are all so fucked. So fucked.

How can you put aside that issue here?  This case is about an Alabama statute that prohibits puberty blockers and sex reassignment surgeries for minors.  I guess you are in favor of minors being given puberty blockers and sex reassignment surgery?

Also, it is not a court citing it.  It is Alabama's attorney citing Dobbs to support their position that the state has the authority to block minors from receiving puberty blockers and having their genitals surgically altered.

This.  Baseball, weather, and geography are the only clear advantages the SEC has - from a fan perspective.

The SEC has just a small handful of teams that will suck to play.  Vandy, South Carolina and Kentucky in football.

The Big 10 has too many spares.  Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Minnesota.  Way too much bread.

  6. Some SWAT team shit going down in River Oaks today.  3800 block of Del Monte.  Supposedly some doctor's son who is a Texas grad is holed up.  Rumor mill says potential terror suspect.  Terror aspect is probably BS.  But I have been getting texts about it all day.

A neighbor of the doctor and friend of mine sent me some pics of the dad with cops using bullhorn to communicate with him.  FBI involved.  A warrant was being served.

Was this posted?? We have a QAnon moron for a Justice:

“They object on religious grounds to all available COVID–19 vaccines because they were developed using cell lines derived from aborted children,” Justice Clarence Thomas said of the petitioners. | Drew Angerer/Getty Images

I am pretty sure that is him citing petitioner's reasoning.  Not him adopting it.

I understand and we're on the same page on that part. The BLM administratively agreed to enforce state laws on BLM land, because there hasn't really been a reason not to. Some of the other federal agencies also did so.

Where we disagree is where you said state law controls on BLM property. It doesn't. Federal law "controls", state law is also allowed to be enforced. That's an important distinction.

I'm also saying as someone that has directly dealt with the BLM in multiple states, that this is done as a courtesy and has little practical effect. The state has zero role in our permitting process. They are federal permits agreeing to follow federal laws on federal land. The specimens are all curated in federally regulated repositories. The federal government laws "control". The state has nothing to do with it and has no say in the process.

The extended courtesy means if one of the crew broke a state law, the state could also charge them, but the feds are very much in charge of who does what and when on their land.

Further, this courtesy of also extending state laws to BLM lands could be modified, or rescinded with a meeting, or executive order from Biden.

The larger issue would be that physicians are licensed by the state.

As bad as bondage was in America, I still have a hard time coming to grips with the actual crossing of the Middle Passage. The things that took place on those ships were indescribably horrific, which doesn't even begin to do them justice. I can't comprehend it.

Dan Carlin's Hardcore History covers the Atlantic slave trade in pretty nauseating detail.

  10. Really needs to be a major restructure.  Where teams like Maryland, Vanderbilt, Miss State, and Rutgers aren't in the top two conferences.

Best way would be to have superconferences for football and men's basketball.  And all other sports in regional conferences.

Does it though?  The western division will be garbage.  The Big 10 will have way too much bread.

What they should do is process Rutgers and Maryland.

Meaning it was a 5-4 party line vote to appoint W. president.

That poisoned the United States' body politic and is leading us down a very dangerous path.

If they could not use different and more liberal standards in blue counties, which is what the Democrats were trying to get away with, Gore loses.  7 justices said they could not use different standards.  That ended it.  The remedy that was 5-4 just hastened the end.

By a 5-4 party line vote.

The Republican Party, with assistance from the Supreme Court, has been conspicuously and systematically establishing minority rule in this country for over two decades.

It's an open question as to how long the majority will put up with it.

It was 7-2 on equal protection and 5 to 4 on remedy.
