  1. I don't really wonder at all about why lost people in the world hate the Church and God's word. The Bible says they will.
  2. You paint with a broad brush. No group is more generous with their money and does more volunteering than the American Christian you seem to really despise.
  3. It's because churches, as far as I know, are not going around claiming drunkenness or adultery or other sins are okay and not sinful like many do with homosexuality. They aren't celebrating it like they do with gay weddings. I truthfully wish homosexuality was not a sin. It would make life easier. I have gay family members. But I believe the Bible is God's word. Accordingly, I believe what the New Testament says about homosexuality and that my feelings about it are not relevant. Jesus also spoke of marriage being between a husband and a wife. I could not belong to a church that sanctioned gay marriage any more than I could belong to one that preached that lying, murdering, stealing, adultery, etc. were not sinful conduct that required repentance. I do firmly believe in the legal right for gays to marry and have now for over 20 years when I first really read the Constitution. But no way on the Church. I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible and that it is God's word. I don't need a bunch of sermons or gay bashing from the pulpit. I cannot even recall ever hearing a sermon on the subject. But a church that does not believe in the Bible is not a place for me or my family. Period. Other churches can do what they want. That is not my business and is between them and God. I am happy there are churches that accept homosexuals, despite my beliefs that it is not at all biblical.
  4. That's pretty bad when you consider the shit teams he has mostly played against.
  5. He's turned into a good backup. This is a good thing.
  6. Get your licks in while you can!
  7. Some outstanding analysis from Billy Liucci. He really knows football https://texags.com/s/46641/22-players-in-22-days-9-haynes-king/5 Position: Quarterback Classification: Redshirt Sophomore Hometown: Longview, TX Listed Height: 6’3” Listed Weight: 205 lbs. Key notes on Liucci’s thoughts on King Too low. Too low. We're going to look back at Haynes King, Max Johnson, Conner Weigman — whoever QB1 is — and Evan Stewart and say we ranked them too low. It’s hard to tell. Haynes started two games and finished one. You probably saw him play less than four quarters. If camp ended today and you had a game tomorrow, the starter would be Haynes King. There are still two out of three scrimmages left, and you know how much value Jimbo Fisher puts into that. Haynes has done a good job in camp thus far. Haynes is slept on nationally. Three quarters of a guy's first career start, and they jump to way too many conclusions. He won the backup job as a true freshman. That’s hard to do as a true freshman in Jimbo's offense, and then he won the job a year ago. People are sleeping on his ability. He is throwing better than he ever has. He still has the legit 4.45 speed. There are plenty of receivers in this conference that could not compete with him in a foot race. Saying A&M wanted no part of Wake Forest in the bowl game is laughable. Haynes and Devon Achane would have combined for 500 yards against that Wake Forest defense, maybe 600 yards. The narrative would have been different if they had played that game. We’ve really only seen him in his first career start and two drives on his second. My question is how high can they go in the QB rankings? If the starter, I think Haynes has top-five potential. Whoever is QB2, he will be as good as a backup as anyone in the league. Who is everyone talking about? Last year was Bryce Young’s first year as a starter. It was KJ Jefferson’s first year as a starter. It's what they did in year one that makes people excited. Why would fans assume that King can’t have a big-time year in year one as a starter? The reason all the guys are ranked highly is because they kicked butt as a first-year starter. Haynes can really thrive as a runner and a passer. King has been through two true quarterback battles. One battle for a backup job. That leg injury made him really hungry. He wanted this chance for three years. The coaches came to him about Max Johnson, and he said, “Yes, we need him.” Haynes knows that Max could have beat him out. Max nor Haynes are going to sit back and think they have anything locked up. Haynes is ready to get out there and has the most experience in the system. The injury he had ripped away his year from him. He was throwing passes on one leg. You couldn’t keep him in the barn. A&M is king of winning hypothetical matchups. Wake would have kicked their asses.
  8. They're all pretty much hateful assholes. Part of being a politician in the 2020s. But fine, show me one whose words and deeds are Christ-like.
  9. I use that trick for the freezer at the ranch.
  10. No way. Unless you also want to tax all nonprofits. Most that own their real estate would be history. Churches, parks, hospitals, universities, museums, zoos, planned parenthood clinics, private schools, animal shelters, hospitals, youth camps, women's shelters, etc. You could not, under the First Amendment, single out religious nonprofits for taxation and exclude secular nonprofits.
  11. I cannot. But most mega churches I know of are apolitical. See Lakewood/Osteen. Probably because they want a large tent so they can get more contributions and sell more books. All sorts of churches violate federal nonprofit law when it comes to politics from the pulpit. The AME and other black churches are just as big of offenders as Second Baptist. The government should enforce 501(c)(3) on the entire lot of them.
  12. Dr. Young is 100% wrong for engaging in secular politics from the pulpit. I heard about that and about what he preached about the Houston judges. It annoys me too and is counterproductive for reaching the lost. Because much of what Second Baptist preaches is the truth and that church does many wonderful things in the Houston community. On the other end of the spectrum is a church I drive by every day near the corner of San Felipe and 610 that basically has whatever is the theme of the day from the Democratic platform in big bright, colorful, electric lights on their sign. I cannot stand politics from the pulpit. It is not Godly. I honestly have no idea how my pastor votes. And I do not care. If you can tell how your pastor votes from the sermons they preach, I would suggest you find another church. Because otherwise you are likely in an unholy echo chamber.
  13. Absolutely right. None of us deserve His grace. Only thing we must do is accept Him and His grace.
  14. Some friends and I are going to do the Devil's River in late April. Cannot wait. Going to need to get the right gear for camping out. I assume hammocks might be in order?
  15. I think we are about the same thing we were last year at this time. Maybe we win 6 or 7 if the ball bounces right.
  16. When you hire a head coach with a history of very mediocre results as a head coach, this is what to expect. He is not a good head coach. We will have to hire another head coach in a year or two.
  17. Who gives a shit about sports where most schools don’t even care enough to spend money to compete in? I don’t. Maybe 4 sports matter.
  18. This is where I’ve been since we hired this loser.
  19. Yep. Quit caring when we hired this loser coach. I’ll maybe care some day again. I am going to do a lot of hunting in the interim. I am not even mad.
  20. One of my very favorite Longhorns. Wish we had three more of him at LB right now.
