  1. Good to see pressure continuing to come from this direction. In a critical editorial, Der Spiegel accuses German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of failing Ukraine by hesitating to send Taurus missiles, possibly for electoral reasons. The editorial stresses that Ukraine’s immediate needs are critical, and Germany’s hesitation could have disastrous consequences. Probably staged.
  2. Probably bested only by Jake Sullivan on this count
  3. I think he meant "shut down" After looking into it more, the guy is reaching a bit on the nuclear power plant issues- there's no known connection to Russia that I've seen reported: https://yle.fi/a/74-20125647#:~:text=Two of Finland's five nuclear, safety has not been affected.
  4. To sum it up here are the "coincidences" of the last 2 days: - 2 underwater cables were cut (Finland/Germany and Lithuania/Sweden) - 2 nuclear reactors malfunctioned in Finland and were shot down, one on Sunday, the other on Monday - Norway's Massive Johan Sverdrup Oilfield Shut by Power Outage - Support cable of the Louhunsalmi suspension bridge broke in Finland, leaving 2 Islands almost cutt-off.
  5. So - according to Russian federal port records, the Chinese ship suspected of cutting the communications cables in the Baltic Sea was captained by a Russian citizen (one Stechentsev A.E.). Interestingly Yui Peng 3 was only transferred to its current owner in China earlier this month. The ship is carrying goods/oil from Ust-Luga in Russia, to Port Said in Egypt. Same captain also comandeered URSUS ARCTOS also carrying goods from Ust-Luga to Egypt. Mapped using @SensusQ. Full name should be Stechentsev, Alexander Evgenievich (Стеченцев Александр Евгеньевич). A person of the same name was found in Russian court records disputing missed pay from the company OOO "Albatros". That company provides services in the port of Ust-Luga. Our guy might have been a pilot for the intial part out of port or the full journey.
  6. Key quote from the article: This significant milestone underscores the potential of ANKTIVA to provide durable responses in patients with limited treatment options. The QUILT 3.032 study is a single-arm, multicenter trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of ANKTIVA plus BCG in patients with BCG-unresponsive NMIBC CIS. The observed 71% CR rate aligns with previous findings reported in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM Evidence, Chamie 2022) and reinforces the therapeutic promise of this combination therapy. “We are encouraged by the consistent complete response rates observed in our expanded patient cohort,” said Patrick Soon-Shiong, M.D., Executive Chairman and Global Chief Scientific and Medical Officer of ImmunityBio. “These results highlight the potential of ANKTIVA to transform the treatment landscape for patients with BCG-unresponsive NMIBC CIS, offering hope for improved outcomes and cystectomy avoidance, especially with the prolonged duration of response now ranging as much as 54 months in this 100-patient analysis. Duration of complete response is the key efficacy element in driving cystectomy avoidance in this BCG-unresponsive population. I am pleased that this updated ANKTIVA data confirms that one of the highest durable responses is achieved when compared to other approved products in this indication.” The QUILT 3.032 study continues to monitor patients to assess the durability of responses and overall survival outcomes. ImmunityBio remains committed to advancing innovative immunotherapies that harness the body's immune system to combat cancer. https://www.crweworld.com/article/news-provided-by-business-wire/3533364/immunitybio-completes-anktivas-post-approval-enrollment-of-the-100th-patient-in-bcg-unresponsive-nmibc-cis-trial-and-reports-a-complete-response-rate-of-71-with-a-durable-duration-of-response-ranging-up-to-54-months#google_vignette
  7. Ukraine hits Russian territory with ATACMS for the first time, - source https://www.rbc.ua/ukr/news/ukrayina-vpershe-vdarila-atacms-teritoriyi-1732007549.html In Bryansk Oblast, so the reporting was wrong about it being limited to Kursk. According to Bloomberg (KYHorn: original reporting is in the link above), Ukrainian forces conducted the first ATACMS strike against positions inside Russia. Bloomberg claims that the "western part" of the Bryansk region was struck last night, but I assume that it was in fact Karachev with its 67th GRAU arsenal, which is in the east of that province. I reported regarding this in the morning. This confirms also my suspicions I had when the news made its round that ATACMS could be only used in Kursk. This was likely a decoy message.
  8. It's fairly well known that Jake Sullivan has been the consistent drag on allowing Ukraine to actually win this.
  9. If it's a nice fall weekend, I cannot recommend enough that y'all take some time for outdoor activities. Mammoth Cave and the Red River Gorge (truly great hikes and world class rock climbing) should be top of the list.
  10. ATACMS was only authorized for use in the Kursk area, where North Korean troops have been deployed, - Axios The motivation behind the decision was to deter North Korea from sending more troops to Russia for the war against Ukraine. U.S. officials hope that if North Koreans troops in Kursk are hit, Pyongyang might review its decision to send troops to Russia and the Russian counterattack in Kursk will fail.
  11. Lexington was the hq of the IBM printing division. This was spun off into Lexmark, which is still a major employer in Lexington.
  12. Hey man, it was a little chilly yesterday. This. I've been offered tickets to the rest of the games by both neighbors. We already have them and aren't using them. UK fans are done with football.
  13. Important caveat that I'm reading: the allowance may only be extended to all of Kursk! This is not carte blanche and would not include the Kerch bridge or most of the orange on that map. The reporting is not entirely clear though. There are reports that France and the UK are also lifting restrictions, and those may be more expansive. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/17/us/politics/biden-ukraine-russia-atacms-missiles.html Biden Allows Ukraine to Strike Russia With Long-Range U.S. Missiles With two months left in office, the president for the first time authorized the Ukrainian military to use the system known as ATACMS to help defend its forces in the Kursk region of Russia.
  14. So attacking the energy infrastructure was the red line...? Would've been nice to have it 24 hours ago, or 24 months ago
  15. Imagine your country is exposed to this level of terror. You wouldn’t negotiate with the terrorists from this neighboring country. You would fight back. Freedom is not negotiable. Freedom is not for free. And you are just curtailing your own freedom if you expect any other country should accept this.
  16. Today, starting at 14:30, the 🇷🇺Russian occupiers attempted to break through our defenses in the Kupyansk direction. Part of the Russian infantry was disguised in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - General Staff of 🇺🇦Ukraine The enemy assault groups attacked the positions of the Ukrainian defenders in four waves. During the attack, the enemy used about 15 units of equipment: tanks, armored combat vehicles and UR-77 "Zmey Gorynych". All enemy equipment was destroyed, the enemy infantry was partially eliminated and dispersed.
  17. This is an extraordinary report. The ‘Deathonomics’ Powering Russia’s War Machine Payments for soldiers killed on the front lines are transforming local economies in some of Russia’s poorest regions https://www.wsj.com/world/russia/russia-ukraine-war-military-death-pay-6cfe936e Bypass pay wall: https://archive.is/6hPdu Some highlights:
