Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region took three more villages backed by visual evidence. Russkaya Konopel'ka, the village of Korenevo (not to be confused with the town Korenevo) and Krasnooktyabr'skoe are now under AFU control. With the last village it is now confirmed that Russians south of the Seym river can only withdraw crossing this river. Everythings going well in Russia. Warning: graphic Aleksandr Khodakovsky of the Russian Vostok Battalion highlights the growing challenge of convincing Russian soldiers to participate in assaults. He points out that the high financial incentives used for recruitment have created a situation where soldiers are primarily focused on survival to enjoy the money they've earned. Unlike in Wagner, where the threat of a bullet loomed both ahead and behind, there are now almost no effective means of motivating soldiers.

I'm sure the giant stacks of hay won't contribute to the problem. Let's hide behind there

Great info. Two other factors to consider: Spousal benefits are up to 50% of their spouse's SS benefit (if the spouse who did not pay-in waits until 67, but it's 32.5% if taken at age 62. Again, this is based on the age of the spouse who is receiving the spousal benefit) Survivors benefits are 100% assuming you live past full retirement age, so if your spouse is much younger than you and you will pass that benefit on to them (because they don't have or have a lower SS benefit), this would need to be added into the calculations.

Came here to post this. Here's the translation. A true Surly-esque poet. 10/10 Dostoevsky moment with a Russian guy witnessing the Marinovka air base following a Ukrainian drone assault. βThere it is flying by, fuck. Fucking flying over again, fuck. Itβs all fucking fucked up! Everything. Itβs fucked as fuck. Theyβre fucking bombing it since 2.30 am, and they still are fucking it now. Itβs a serious tragedy, folks. This is serious stuff. Itβs all fucking on fire. And itβs fucking smoke. Itβs all fucking exploding. Thatβs it. The Oktyabrsky airfield is fucking fucked as fuck. Thatβs really something else. And all the new hangars, itβs all blown up in the air, fuck.β

π¨ Ukrainians scammed the Russian milbloggers 'Two Majors' of 1 million rubles On August 9, "Two Majors" announced a collection for fighters in the Kursk area, including 7 Maviks, for a total of 1,800,000 rubles. Ukrainians contacted the fund and convinced them that they could promptly deliver the Maviks, but an advance payment was required. On August 13, the head of the " Two Majors" with over 1 million followers on Telegram transferred 999,990 rubles to the account of the fictitious company OOO "Digital ARS RUS". On August 20, a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded a video with words of gratitude for the purchased equipment. ππ€£

I've seen many reports expressing this sentiment A highly placed Zelensky admin source to me: βKeeping the Americans in the dark was also key to keeping the Russian intelligence services and army from being able to prepare. βWe have learned some very hard lessons from the events of the previous counteroffensive,β a highly placed member of Zelenskyyβs team informed Tablet. βLast summer we told everyone what we were going to do and we all know how that turned out. Everyone knew what we were going to do and in which location we intended to strike. There is definitely something to be learned from the Israeli example of acting first and only later explaining what you are doing.β My latest: tabletmag.com/sections/news/β¦ No CR. The decree is legit. BREAKING: PUTIN JUST DROPPED A BOMBSHELL DECREEβINVITING PEOPLE FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE WHO ARE FED UP WITH THE GLOBALIST, NEOLIBERAL NIGHTMARE TO SEEK SANCTUARY IN TRADITIONAL RUSSIA! This new decree blows the lid off the establishment's agenda, letting freedom-loving folks bypass the usual bureaucratic nonsense like language tests or history exams. If you're ready to reject the insane policies of your home countries that push these destructive, anti-human, neoliberal agendas, Russia is rolling out the red carpet! The Russian government is about to compile a list of countries poisoning minds with these twisted ideals, and the Foreign Ministry is gearing up to issue visas to true patriots as soon as September! It's time to stand up for spiritual and moral values! Source: Tass

The π·πΊ#Russians claimed yesterday that they hit and and destroyed a πΊπ¦#Ukrainian M270 MLRS in #Sumy oblast. Today it turned out that it was a π¨πΏ#Czech-made decoy from Inflatech. The torso of the decoy is made of synthetic silk, they radiate heat exactly in the places where they have a "motor", so they deceive even thermal cameras. It also contains metal fibers, so the decoys show the same radar image as the original. In addition, they are resistant to damage. Even a 20cm hole will not compromise their final shape and the model will not crack.

If I recall, Russia tried to use it as a threat earlier on in the war as a way of diverting Ukraine's troops and resources but I haven't heard much from there since the first year or so

Yeah I couldn't even post that one, I just had to move along. Looks like that section being cutoff by Ukraine is going to get pushed: Russian regime TG channels report that the Russian border checkpoint of Tetkino has been wiped out by HIMARS missiles. They are not disclosing the extent of the damage or casualties. Overall, it is obvious that Ukrainian forces are softening up the Russian lines in the Glushkovo district south of the Seym river, making this area increasingly difficult to be held by the Russian army. The battles in the Korenevo sector are ongoing. It needs to be added that Russians frequently call HIMARS the culprit, when one of their bases gets eliminated. (Tubed-)artillery strikes or glide bombs can also be responsible, and that case are even more likely than GLMRS from HIMARS.

^story: A Russian who surrendered to the an AFU "Ranger" scout team in the #Kursk area (#KuPR) is given some blue tape and and anti-drone drone gun. It is better that he is cooperating than trying to bring a resistive POW back from some remote area of the front. So I will publicly admit it. There are some smart and reasonable Russians who truly understand what is going on. Unfortunately, they appear to be far and few between. FYI: A Russian DRG team would have shot a Ukrainian POW in the same circumstances.

We knew it was happening but interesting to hear directly how it affected the conscripts' thinking Sky News: Russian conscripts surrendered to the AFU to avoid being killed by Chechens They are soldiers from the Russian 488th Motorized Rifle Regiment, which is made up mostly of conscripts. As they fled, they were shot at by Chechen forces on the Russian side, who were "there to prevent them from running away". "They went the other way, back to the enemy and surrendered. So a whole company of young conscripts, all 18-, 19-year-old boys, surrendered," says security and defense analyst Michael Clarke. Glide bombs going the other way is nice

Haha yes, I've seen him

I've never actually seen what Dom looks like. Much younger and normal looking than the older surly man I had pictured.

"The head of the prison, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to ensure the prison location would not be revealed, said 320 Russians have passed through the facility in the past 10 days on their way to other prison camps in Ukraine. The vast majority are young conscripts, the official said, with only around 20 percent identifying as contract fighters or otherwise mobilized soldiers." @siobhan_ogrady Tetiana Burianova @maryilyushina @s_morgunov washingtonpost.com/world/2024/08/β¦ "With a bandaged arm, he was among several in the room who were wounded. Out of 60 men he fought alongside to try to repel the Ukrainian incursion, only four or five survived. The rest refused to surrender and were killed in fighting with Ukrainian troops, he said. He knew he might stay in prison indefinitely but hoped Russia would find a way to quickly return the young conscripts home."

Different degrees of nuance here, so I'm posting a few. The gist seems to be that no additional military aid from Germany will happen. What has been announced is supposedly going to be fulfilled and any additional aid must come from frozen Russian assets. Germany stops military aid for Ukraine, β Bild Chancellor Scholz, with the support of Finance Minister Lindner, ordered that any further aid for Ukraine be frozen. Current contracts are being fulfilled, but new requests for aid, especially from the Ministry of Defense, are not being approved. βοΈThis is not entirely correct, as continued financing is to come largely from frozen russian funds. We all know Olaf Scholz and his many lies in connection with this war. It shows that Olaf Scholz's promises to support Ukraine for as long as it takes, may have been a lie again. Let's hope for the best. Germany is temporarily freezing military aid to Ukraine to save costs, according to FAZ. Chancellor Scholz and Finance Minister Lindner have halted all new funding requests, though existing contracts will be fulfilled. Germany is also working on redirecting funds from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
