  1. 4% is almost double the average annual inflation rate. I think that's far too conservative. I'd say 3% would be fairly conservative, which is in line with your 7% return figure.
  2. Howard Buffett, the son of billionaire Warren Buffett, gave Ukraine 150 million of his personal money in 2022. In 2023, he bought a total of 360 million $ for Ukraine. At his own expense, he built kitchen factories in Bucha and Lozovaya, police stations in Borodyanka and Izyum, and a dog training center in Bucha. Buffett brings combine harvesters, tractors and seeds to Ukraine and gives them to farmers for free. Buys and brings mine clearance vehicles to Ukraine: in some areas, mine clearance is the main type of agricultural work... Buffett supports the Ukrainian police, brought dozens of DNA detection machines, bought service dogs of the highest level of training in the Netherlands and brought them to Ukraine. Buffett helps search for war criminals, created a separate organization in Ukraine. He financed the creation and operation of The Superhumans Center, an open prosthetics center near Lviv. I bought and brought 2,400 high-power generators... In September 2023, Buffett and Ukrzaliznytsia created the world's first kitchen train that can operate offline for 5-7 days during blackouts and produce 70 thousand servings of food during the week. How much money does Howard Buffett have? It's hard to say, because he spends them all the time, he has already spent half a billion on Ukraine. He fell in love with Ukraine, visited ten times during the war, and it feels like he spends more time in Ukraine than at home in the United States... He's the middle child of billionaire investor Warren Buffett. It was named after Howard Buffett, his grandfather, and Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffett's favorite professor. As CEO and chairman of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation (HGBF), Buffett has traveled to more than 130 countries to document the challenges of preserving biodiversity and providing sufficient resources to meet people's needs. HGBF was one of five philanthropic groups that received вор 2.9 billion in Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares from Warren Buffett in July 2020. P.S. According to Forbes magazine, as of April 2023, Warren Buffett was ranked 5th in the ranking of the richest billionaires in the world with personal assets of 106 billion. $. In addition, Warren Buffett plans to donate most of his assets to charity.
  3. Turns out the Kinzhals weren't very fast. Oops.
  4. One could be forgiven for thinking they were in the Aggy recruiting thread.
  5. I'm sure the life rafts were in tip-top shape and everyone shared their spots on floating debris.
  6. I'll tell you what, if you can beat our resident sprinter, I'll download the app.
  7. From the Pentagon Press briefing just now (second tweet):
  8. I relate strongly. It's even harder to buy when you can get 5% guaranteed.
  9. Really good advice from Muny all around, but this part can be reframed I think. It doesn't have to be forced employment or laying down the law. You can just present to her the situation and the options once you get a clear picture. Either we're going to default and have to go through a pretty grueling process over the next few years, or you'll need to get a job that pays (X amount). I assume you want her to be happy and you don't want to force her into anything. It needs to be a larger decision you both make as a couple and this part of the decision is more on her. If she asks your advice, you can give it, but I would avoid language that pressures her into the decision so that there isn't space for resentment to build and whatever choice she makes is hers to own. You're just presenting the facts and wanting her to be an active part of the process.
  10. Yeah, but at least their birth certificates don't say "bastard"!
  11. There's a really rare cultural practice called fraternal polyandry that is still practiced today in a remote region in India. One girl marries all brothers of a family. Pretty fascinating. Sweet dreams are made of these. Who am I to disagree?
  12. There are really no significant tax breaks for marriage. If you both make somewhat similar incomes there is not really any tax benefit or drawback to marriage. There used to be some benefits, but there also used to be some penalties. Both of these have mostly been leveled out. The most significant issue remaining is probably the marriage penalty for the earned income tax credit and, more significantly IMO, the marriage penalties for qualifying for government programs.
  13. That'd be interesting but nearly impossible to get sufficient data. It's already quite difficult to get a strong and unbiased sample size for polyamorus married couples.
  14. Yeah, it requires an extremely high functioning relationship. Trust has to be through the roof and both partners need to be excellent communicators and emotionally intelligent. It's also much easier to make it work if the relationship starts as polyamorus rather than develops into it in some way.
  15. It differs depending on the definition that's used but the divorce rates are much higher in polyamorus couples. Men and sexual minorities are also much more likely to engage in or desire to engage in polyamory.
