  1. NPR's reporting has toed this line- using framing like: "indiscriminate explosions across public places like grocery stores, hospitals, and malls with thousands of people dead including children. "
  2. Here's the answer. That video wasn't the hit on Toropets.
  3. Artillery shells sold by Indian arms makers have been diverted by European customers to Ukraine and New Delhi has not intervened to stop the trade despite protests from Moscow, according to eleven Indian and European government and defence industry officials... Among the European countries sending Indian munitions to Ukraine are Italy and the Czech Republic, which is leading an initiative to supply Kyiv with artillery shells from outside the European Union... But Delhi, long the world's largest weapons importer, also sees the lengthy war in Europe as an opportunity to develop its nascent arms export sector, according to six Indian sources familiar with official thinking."
  4. Yes, or if that video is actually the first strike, it would presumably be close to sunset, and these are ongoing detonations that we're seeing from the initial strike.
  5. where all the characters randomly shout "FUCK!" and other obscenities.
  6. It may not have made major headlines, but it has certainly rattled Russian troops. The commander of the assault unit of the 110th Brigade, known by his nickname "Beliy," was arrested. The terrorist is regarded as a highly competent and successful commander, with notable participation in the battle for Avdiivka. A native "Donetsk miner", Beliy has been fighting against Ukraine since 2014. The case stems from Bely reportedly cracking down on drug dealers who were distributing narcotics to the fighters. The conflict was allegedly provoked by the "bearded dealers" [Akhmat], but despite his reputation, the high command has not come to Bely’s defense. Several prominent war correspondents now claim the unit was unjustly beheaded, leading them to scale back their own operations in protest. They're now begging Belousov to help him out.
  7. There's a lot to notice in that picture. Some kind of reflective covering on the ceiling... Also, decorative bird between fly tape streamers.
  8. On behalf of all Ukrainians: Thank you Yandex! “A friend sent me satellite photos of warehouses in Toropets in a personal message. With high detail. Many were lying in the open and easily distinguishable. Missiles in one place. Shells in another, etc. I ask him: "Where do you get all these photos in such high quality?" Do you know where? Yandex and Google maps. B*tch. I'm out of words on this issue. I just don't understand what's going on. Yandex maps, damn it!!!!”
  9. "We almost shot you. We thought you were ukrops [Ukrainians]." A brilliant operation recorded by the camera of one of the soldiers of the 12th Azov Brigade, during which the our Warriors pretended to be Airborne Forces reconnaissance and went to the Russian positions. The finale is worthy of an Oscar!
  10. That's just when the biggest explosions occurred. From the top right picture below, there seems to be daylight during some of the cooking off. Could also be multiple rounds of drones?
  11. AZOV FIGHTERS WALK RIGHT UP TO THE RUSSIAN TRENCHES AND TAKE RUSSIAN SOLDIERS PRISONERS >> Azov fighters walked right up to the russian trenches, pretending to be russian intelligence officers. After abusing the russian soldiers for some time for how messy their trench was, and engaging in other small talk... ...the Azov soldiers fired a few shots into the air and informed the russians that they were now prisoners of Ukraine.
  12. There are reports that Grad, S-300 and S-400 missiles, ballistic Iskander missiles and a small stash of North Korean missiles were stored at the ammunitions warehouse in Toropets, Tver region of Russia. NASA FIRMS shows fires on almost the whole territory of the 107th Russian arsenal. Video above for those without Twitter Big big booms
  13. Quite graphic video from a hospital of many injured/dead.
  14. A confidential Ukrainian estimate from earlier this year put the number of dead Ukrainian troops at 80,000 and the wounded at 400,000, according to people familiar with the matter. Western intelligence estimates of Russian casualties vary, with some putting the number of dead as high as nearly 200,000 and wounded at around 400,000... With over six million fleeing Ukraine since the start of the war in February 2022, according to the United Nations, and Russia seizing further land, the total population on Kyiv-controlled territory has now dropped to between 25 million and 27 million, according to previously undisclosed Ukrainian government estimates." "One of the key reasons Zelensky refuses to mobilize the key cohort of men aged between 18 and 25—typically the bulk of any fighting force—is because most of these people haven’t had children yet, according to the former Ukrainian officials. Should the recruits of that age group die or become incapacitated, future demographic prospects would dim further, Ukrainian demographers say." Yuriy Gulchuk, a marine from the 36th Separate Marine Brigade lost his ability to speak while he was in Russian captivity. Yuriy was captured on April 12, 2022, at the Ilyich metallurgical plant in Mariupol. He was twenty years old at the time. The young man reportedly spent some time in Mordovia in one of the most brutal Ukrainian POW camps.
  15. Right on the femoral artery, I imagine.
  16. A Russian counterattack in Kursk that kicked off last week hasn’t made much headway but has worsened the Russian disposition - Forbes As the media notes, not only did it fail to produce the desired result, but it aggravated the Russians' position in a potential pocket south of Korenevo. According to Forbes, Kyiv has devoted about 10,000 soldiers in the Kursk region; Moscow, in turn, has sent 38,000 servicemen, but many of them are poorly trained young conscripts. Meanwhile, the AFU has a new strategy in the Kursk region - to move quickly and encircle Russian troops. Thus, last week, the AFU broke through the Russian defenses on a new section of the Russian-Ukrainian border near the village of Novy Put. And if they can link up with Ukrainian troops on the main stretch of the Ukrainian offensive, they will cut off potentially thousands of Russians between themselves and the border.
  17. Acting in all those Criminal Minds shows must really mess with your head.
  18. Interesting thread here. I'll paste the links in the spoiler. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1835351645305106753.html
  19. Just so it's on your radar, the latest shooting near a Trump was carried out by a Ukraine-war advocate who claimed to have daughter for Ukraine and seems to have organized volunteer efforts. He has been quoted in a few news articles on this topic as well. I'm sure Russia won't use any of this to advance their cause. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-suspect-shooting-assassination-attempt-west-palm-beach-1954191
  20. No CR. Just a good sign to have the Overton window moved a bit in this direction
  21. Seems to be a bit of a chess match going on around Kursk
  22. Russian Telegram channels posted a video showing a long traffic jam of fuel vans on the Moscow Ring Road. Reportedly, the video was taken at 6 a.m. today near the turn to the Moscow oil refinery in the Kapotnya district. On September 1, there was a fire there after a drone attack. In the comments, it was assumed that fuel is being removed from the refinery after the drone attack. EDIT: Correction to earlier tweet: Today in Kyiv, @SecBlinken said he'll take back what #Ukraine's told them they need (including long-range missile use) to president Biden - adding UK PM Kier Starmer (not president Zelensky as some have reported) will meet with Biden in 2 days time to discuss this issue further. Blinken also announced $325 million in aid for Ukraine's energy & electric grid. $290 million for humanitarian aid & $102 million for demining. Made it clear the U.S. "wants Ukraine to win and is fully committed to Ukraine's victory."
