  1. Just booked next February for a week in Banff. 7 nights at Fairmont Lake Louise + 2 5/7 day lift tickets for US$3,700. 5% down. Refundable until 14 days before. Good through 3/31 in case anyone is interested
  2. The struggle is real. 3 months into a remodel with no kitchen or table. Nice weather for the backyard tonight. Dogs made good company.
  3. Really cold our first couple days. Low around -10F and high around 15. By the time we left lows were around 10 and high may have snuck above freezing.
  4. Have to be among the most novice posters on this thread. But happy it say we did Lake Louise and Sunshine a couple weeks ago and are headed to Winter Park this Thursday. 8 - 10 days on the slopes are a big year for the Brownwater family but we love all of them. Even the ones Mrs. Brownwater is wearing out the local boot fitter.
  5. @milkman I’d suggest asking a few friends who play if their wife or girlfriend ever tried to pick up the game. I know several people who have lightly used lady’s equipment sitting around unused. I’m sure it wouldn’t take much time to find someone willing to loan it out while your daughter decides if she likes the game. If it sticks she might have enough experience and a swing baseline to buy something more dialed in than the starter set. That said, the most likely way it will stick is if she can hit good shots as soon as possible. For the reasons above, repurposing men’s clubs is likely problematic. Probably too heavy meaning she can’t control them or too stiff meaning they won’t launch as well. Either way - I think getting something that’s made for ladies is her highest likelihood for success. Lastly she could probably start with a partial set instead of the full bag. But if you’re set on buying clubs, EBay, 2ndSwing and most retailers will have used clubs she can try.
  6. Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah…
  7. If being obtuse is wrong I don’t want to be right
  8. Yes. You should start a new thread and not commingle that solid finish with the fuckery that inevitably follows
  9. He said “running back hoes” which is the most believable task on that list.
  10. In an earlier career stop, I had a female aggy “peer” in a department we worked with frequently. We had a group meeting one morning and she walked in late and says “Good morning Brownwater, your hair’s getting thinner.” I glance up from my computer and say “You’re not.” Room goes quiet. My team still giggles about it today even though we’ve all moved on or retired.

  12. Back to steak…. Happy Halloween assholes But not to Gus
  13. Assistant speaker or assistant to the speaker?
  14. Try not to get indicted on the way to the parking lot
  15. Repping the above because I wandered in to my local specs today looking for the hirsch but leaving with EHTBP. Leveling up
  16. I am so reluctant to wade in here but… One can argue the rationale and veracity of laws in a given venue ad nauseum. At the end of the day those laws existed and someone chose to incorporate or operate subject to them. I’m a CFO of a modest sized company. When we make decisions about organization structure and corporate jurisdiction, we consult counsel who advises us on the benefits and risks of that decision. Frankly, nearly any modestly sophisticated company does the same. So I don’t really care about the equity of consequences relative to transgressions for the misdeeds of TrumpCo in NY. They chose to be subject to those laws. They leveraged the status of NYC to promote their stature. Now they have to deal with the (preexisting) statutory consequences of running afoul of those laws. It’s not complicated…
  17. No doubt from the Q range in their lineup
  18. Recovering CPA here… Accountants can provide 3 types of reports: Compilation = we were handed a shoebox of information and turned it into normal looking financial statements. We did nothing to question the accuracy of what was in the shoebox. It’s our client’s responsibility to provide accurate records for us to use. Review = Our client turned the shoebox of information into financial statements for us. We asked a few questions and did a few things to make sure they weren’t utter bullshit but that’s still our client’s responsibility to make accurate statements. Audit = We did a lot of work to determine if the financial statements of our client had material errors (that would reasonably impact how a user might interpret that information). We are still not responsible because that work may not find material errors and we rely on our client not lying to us. Arthur Andersen audited Enron and it, including the disclaimers, couldn’t save either firm. I know. I worked for AA in HTX at the time. The notion that Trump is asserting a compilation report somehow protects him is laughable. If anything Mazars could be at risk even though a compilation requires almost no confirmation because general ethical standards of objectivity and independence require not turning a blind eye to utter bullshit.
