I haven’t been to Bearded Lady since they moved. Went twice and was disappointed both times. But I have now had two different people whose opinion I trust tell me how good it was in the last month. Anyone not named Texzilla care to confirm or kill that notion?

I got brunch there a few months ago and everything was cold. They have some grilled cheese of the month thing though and apparently that's been good.

  2. It seems like Brunson really wants to be the guy controlling the offense. Kevin O'Connor mentioned Brunson slipped said something to that effect to him earlier this season and his dad basically came out and said it.

On the one hand I get it. Who wouldn't want to be the man?

On the other hand it gives me big Devin Harris vibes. Have fun for a season but your game isn't multifaceted and the league will figure you out real quick if a team is depending on you too much.

anybody been to or have thoughts on Funky Picnic?  didn't see anything when i searched. thinking of going there with a big group in a few weeks.  looks really cool.

Went there last week. They played exclusively early 2000's emo punk, had decent beers, pretty bad wings, and bad service.

Fort Brewery, Hopfusion better spots for a group hangout.

Also an option.  Feta would just be a weird choice for those contexts.  And neither cotija or queso fresco has a particularly strong smell.  Really am curious about the places he's talking about, and what they actually used.

I mean, I love feta cheese too, in the proper context.

Fuzzys for sure uses feta on tacos.

  5. Feta cheese smells (and I can only assume tastes) like cat vomit and all these Texas bbq and Mexican joints putting it on beans and tacos to seem impressive should just stop already.

  6. Hurtado's in Arlington. Really solid. Ribs and sausage better than the brisket. Buddy said there's one opening in Pilot Point today.

There was basically no line and they were good at taking orders and getting food out fast.

Everyone (including me) gets excited by drafts but it's easy to forget the NBA draft in particular is almost all 19 year olds who aren't going to really peak for another 7-9 years.  Sure, you can tell in the first year or two if they can play but the upside is so far out, it's almost a crap shoot on who will be great and who will be good.

    In baseball maybe?

Scottie Barnes helped elevate Toronto to a top 5 record in year one. Evan Mobley completely transformed Cleveland in his first year.

Luka was immediately the best player on his team and took them to the playoffs in year 2. MVP candidate by year 3.

  8. I spent 3 months wanting the Mavs to take Dennis Smith Jr and was stoked when we got him.

On the other hand, I wanted Luka for like a year before the draft.

Add that up together and I could still do better than any Sacramento GM.

I don't agree with Vic's take on MJ, but mid-80s MJ taking it the hole relentlessly was going to get to the line a lot more and at a higher rate than 90's MJ playing out of the triangle.

Which is why I referenced the league totals as well.

Jordan won in the 90's rather than the 80's because he had a better coach, better teammates, and fewer super teams to compete against once Bird, Magic and Isaiah were old.

Nobody was doing anything to Jordan in the 80's to limit him and no rule change altered the trajectory of his success.

Jordan had better playoff statistics and shooting numbers when he was losing in the 80s than when he was winning in the 90s. His team just got better and his opponents got worse.  Just a bad take by that dude.

This is why mentioning how physical the league was as to why Jordan is so great is pretty dumb. He could never win shit when the league was actually allowed to play him like everyone else. Once they changed the rules for him for many reasons, it became easier for him. Jordan was then shielded from what most players had to deal with.

Jordan had fewer FT attempts per game in the 90s than the 80s.

The entire league dropped in FT attempts.  The league also dropped in points per game.

Kinda seems like you're making stuff up.

You only post in the NBA thread or NBA postseason thread when it involves the Mavs. Suddenly the postseason thread involves the Mavs and so you come in here and all of a sudden start telling me what the fuck I do or don't know about the NBA?

I mean are you fucking kidding me dude?

"Just responding to your post LOL"

Like this isn't my fucking wheelhouse and I didn't start the NBA thread in October and haven't been posting here the entire time.

Please tell me what I don't know about Luka or the Mavs that you've ascertained by bandwagoning them over the past few weeks.

Luka finished top 5 in MVP voting.

He will make 1st team All NBA.

    Thanks for starting the thread.

  12. This movie stuck with me and I enjoyed it.  Had some really strong moments.

I'm curious if a lot of the unanimous dislike of this film on here is coming from people now watching it at home.  Because I can totally see not liking this movie if I had the option to look down at my phone or do something else while it's on.
