The way too early 2019 LSU at Texas game discussion
Obviously there aren't too many positives to take away from an ass whooping like that. However, LSU's inability to establish the run game against a lower tier team combined with Texas' ability to shut down the run against LA Tech could be encouraging combinations. LSU averaged 3.7 yards per carry and it wasn't all from when they put backups in and took the foot of the pedal. There were plenty of times in the first half they got stuffed or hit in the backfield. On the other hand... the passing game looked really good and I expect Burrow to be able to pick on Boyce/Cook/Jamison.

Who impressed you the most tonight?
The defense totally shut down their run game to the point that LA Tech had to completely abandon it. I don't think our Dline is going to be good at getting pressure (the lbs and dbs will do that) but they were beyond solid at stopping a run game with only 4 or 5 guys in the box. Adeoye looked faster than I expected as well.

It's important to remember how vanilla the offense truly looked and how good the vanilla results were. I highly doubt we're throwing 12 WR screens next week. We'll see more qb RPOs where Ehlinger has the option to run. We'll see more throws down field. The offense barely looked like they were trying and they did well. And while La Tech's corners aren't LSU's or in that same class, they have some guys who will likely be in the NFL.

Part of me wonders if the Okafor/Boyce "starter" talk was to keep them happy and out of the portal.

Iowa State vs Northern Iowa (FS1 11AM CT)
Iowa State seems to get much better as the season progresses under Campbell, but the amount of hype they got after losing their best skill guys seems even more ridiculous now.

2019 Texas HS football
What are the UIL rules on playing a guy in a JV game and then suiting them up for a Varsity game the next day? Are you allowed to play a guy in two different games the same week?

Boise St @ Florida St 11am ESPNEWS
I think 3 things are true: 1. Charlie Strong is a terrible coach who squandered an excellent inherited roster from Taggart 2. Jimbo is a lazy coach who left behind a roster full of holes fro Taggart 3. Taggart is a good coach and will turn around FSU soon.

Well Fields is fast. I was always glad that Georgia never figured out how (or chose not) to use him.

Tylan Wallace might be the most fun to watch receiver in the nation. Fort Worth dude.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2021
Saw Juan Davis tonight. It was pretty bad. Guessing the qb experiment will be over before district play. Hopefully that means he moves to tight end.

"Complete sentences," isn't a complete sentence. "Multiple paragraphs," isn't a complete sentence. You forgot a comma after the dependent clause to start the second paragraph. You made the same mistake the next sentence, and that's being generous and allowing the "but" at the beginning of the sentence. You misspelled "you're" in the next sentence. If you were going for irony, kudos I guess. Enjoy the ban.

2019 Texas Football Season - "#8 Go Fuck Yourself Bitch"
TCU fans are convinced it'll be a quick bounce back because of what they did after the terrible 4-8 year in 2013. But there are some key differences. 1. They completely changed their offense to air raid and brought in two OCs in 2014. Now they're trying to slightly adjust to a more Baylor style without changing staff. 2. Texas was dogshit the last time they turned it around. And Oklahoma was a level below what they are now. 3. They had an elite talent at qb. Patterson's a great coach but I don't think it's a given that they compete for conference titles again this decade. The stars aligned for them last time.

As far as recruiting goes, that's actually kind of true. They have a team full of top 100 recruits. They feel about their team the way we feel about the guys from the last two recruiting classes. If we win, it will be because our coaching (development and scheme) and qb are better. In addition to their offensive recruits being overrated.

"Miami @ Florida" thread - Official Surly Thread of WEEK 0 Dominance
I don't think this Miami QB has ever watched football before. He has no understanding of what one does when scrambling, how the clock works, or really anything.

I'm so thankful that Texas is good in the redzone. So frustrating to watch these offenses with no clue.

Jimbo 2020: Strangers with Candi
I get the Demas ruling, but it seems like the elite schools rarely ever get hit with "athletic purpose" transfers. I know a dozen kids who transferred to Aledo purely for athletic reasons. Their parents openly post it on Facebook. Duncanville gets every elite kid from south Dallas. Allen gets more transfers than anyone. Yet when that Azle QB transferred to Weatherford (terrible program) or Demas goes to Tomball (not elite), it gets flagged. It seems counter-intuitive for coaches to vote this way.

2019 Texas Longhorns fall practice thread
My main problem with college football projections (FPI and the like) is that they overvalue returning starters and undervalue elite QB's. A team that returns 10 starters with an elite QB is going to be better than a team that returns 19 starters but a terrible QB. If the last decade of Texas football has taught us anything, it taught us that. That's the thing the eye-test people and those who rank Texas in the top 15 understand: Ehlinger has taken a leap and teams with that kind of QB play typically win 9-12 games.

I was responding to what I quoted. Regardless, I doubt anyone is concerned about Chaisson's lack of experience on the edge.
