  1. I think he'll be successful. Or at the very least, if he is unsuccessful, I don't think it will be because he takes such huge hits. I know it's the common talk on here, but huge hits on QBs are kind of dead in the NFL. You're less safe in college now.
  2. As much as it annoys me that S&P punishes teams for playing conservative and winning close games, it would be nice if Texas would start blowing teams out again. If you can beat Oklahoma and Georgia, you should blow out Tulsa and Kansas. S&P is pretty much right about that. So Texas should start doing that because that sounds fun...
  3. You can require them to stay 6 semesters in order to transfer and immediately be eligible, but you can't make them stay 6 semesters in general. Kids still deserve the option to sit out a year if they're unhappy or have issues. So it's possible we still get McCoy under that rule if he really is okay with sitting out a year instead of staying at USC.
  4. Also, I think part of the Mavs plan to keep KP healthy is to allow him to play like Dirk did where he's not having to grind in the paint by himself or anchor the team as the rebounding presence. I think they want someone else to come in and take the bumps and bruises and free up KP to be a pick and roll/pick and pop player who helps out to block shots.
  5. I don't know what free agent this is if we can't get KD, Klay or Kawhi. I definitely don't want Jimmy Butler aka worst teammate in basketball. Terrence Ross and Danny Green seem to be the next best unrestricted free agent wings that fit that description. Pretty big drop off. Unless we use the cap space to trade for someone, I think it's going to be Vucevic.
  6. The problem with this is it would use up some of our cap room and I'm pretty sure they want to go get Vucevic or Mirotic or someone.
  7. "It was personal. It had nothing to do with me or my coaching ability."
  8. Not that it could ever happen, but the perfect moment of irony would be if KD chose Dallas over New York this summer because he wants to play with Luka and KP. I think that might actually end the Knicks franchise.
  9. So now the Mavs have enough money to get Vucevic, who we were already rumored to want. I don't think any other free agent is either realistic or worth the money we have.
  10. I'm sorry let me add "tweeting during his own wedding" to this.
  11. So much cringe. I'm gonna disagree with everyone. He has less self awareness than even the Hamm and Liucci types.
  12. Never seen so many red flags in one picture Married on a Tuesday Wearing a hat Wearing a Mr. Rogers cardigan No show socks Sneakers Stupid Zip-tie Shirt buttoned up to the top with no tie Not smiling at his own wedding because he's too cool And his wife is dressed like a normal human being, so it's not like it was a mutual thing.
  13. Isn't it kind of embarrassing for a guy who covers Texas recruiting to have to defer to a national writer in order to get information about personal issues on a Texas recruit? He really needs Simmons to tell him what the issues are? Is he half retired or something?
  14. I like the theory that Davis just listed teams he knows can't offer a good enough trade. That way he looks like less of a villain and he still gets what he wants. And he helps the Pelicans get some better value so he can get out now.
  15. I don't know how to embed tweets but McMahon had some tweets about the Kristaps press conference. While the plan is to keep Kristaps out the rest of the season, he said he feels good and wants to get on the court... Also, Cuban said they both agree Kristaps will get a long term. And Kristaps said he's on the same page.
  16. The fact that he "didn't feel like" going is pretty great. Also that he was "upset about something that happened yesterday". Would be even better if the thing he was mad about was directly A&M related. Going to call this recruiting weekend a win.
  17. 1. KP is a restricted free agent this summer. Meaning it can be matched. 2. New York isnt getting a draft pick this year. 3. You are the only person who thinks DSJ is a good return.
  18. Burke, Hardaway, and Lee can all shoot 3's (at least 34% or higher). I'm curious if Courtney Lee is actually dead or if he would be better if given some actual minutes. Has he been hurt? With Doncic and Porzingis as the foundation, I basically just want three point shooting, athleticism and defense from anyone else on the roster.
  19. I meant 2009. I was thinking about after 2008 so I put spring. I'm dumb.
  20. Given that I hope we'll be out of the lottery those years and given that our non-lottery 1st round picks have been guys like Maurice Ager, Jared Cunningham, and Justin Anderson, I'm not losing too much sleep over those picks. Just need to be smart with free agency the next two years. It'd also be nice if Hardaway starts putting up Atlanta like numbers again in a complimentary role.
  21. You realize DSJ has an 11 PER and turns it over almost as much as he assists right? You keep saying he's "very good".
  22. 1. From the moment Luka put on a uniform, I was worried we wouldn't be able to build talent around him. I'm not worried now. 2. We are no longer defendant on signing state players in free agency. Which we have no history of being able to do and which we would have had to rely on without this trade. 3. I think this will be the most entertaining this franchise has ever been. I'm more than happy to watch this. 4. I think Luka will love this.
  23. Maybe it's just blind optimism, but I think quite a few of those defensive replacements have a good chance to be better than their predecessors. Boyd - Cook: Downgrade Davis - Green/Boyce: Downgrade Locke - Foster/Brown/Jamison: Upgrade Gary Johnson - Caleb Johnson: 50/50 Anthony Wheeler - Floyd/McCulloch: Upgrade Hager - Ossai: Huge upgrade Omenihu - Graham/Roach: Downgrade but going from potential 1st rounder to still some of the best talent on the team Nelson - Coburn/Ojomo: Potential upgrade Not to mention we arguably have the best safety tandem and depth in the nation playing behind all of that. I feel more confident about the offense going into a season than I have since spring of 2008.
  24. I think this is one scenario where, regardless where he signs, the fans who get him will be happy and the fans who don't won't really care much. And neither will be wrong.
