  1. It's weird to be in a position where we actually have an interest in rooting for certain teams in the conference to look good, but I can't help but think TCU losing this game is bad. I just had this impression that they would win 9 games this year and be a quality win. Don't have the same confidence that Tech can fill that role. Still... nice to see Patterson lose.
  2. Ohio State lost to (I think) a 6 loss Virginia Tech team a few years ago and still made it in. I would say that's the best sign for Texas, but the committee has shown no consistent pattern of voting and seem to change their process every year. The only consistent is that Ohio State is allowed a free spot in the playoffs if they look good. Oklahoma, West Virginia and TCU will all be ranked at the end of the year. USC and Tech might be as well. Finishing 12-1 with 12 straight wins and wins over 4 or 5 ranked opponents, including an extra win against top 15 WVU or OU will be enough to get Texas a spot. It just will. I doubt we win 12 in a row though.
  3. Oklahoma was bad at... -Gap fits -Pass rush -Tackling WRs -Maintaining the edge -Following the ball in zone read I'm sure a bye week is all they'll need.
  4. Oh cool. I feel better about 2008 now.
  5. 8 team playoff really solves almost everything. Teams with frustrating early season losses still have something to play for. It's still important to schedule tough non-conference opponents to get an at large bid. No conference has to bitch and moan about being left out. On the other side, it's even more money for ESPN/Fox or whoever. Ratings for the conference championship games go up because every single one is a play-in game. Four more playoff games for ratings. Talking heads can still argue all season long about who deserves at large bids. No one loses except the SEC's hope to have half the playoffs come from their own conference.
  6. 1. Reduce the season back to 11 games. 2. Require every conference to play 9 conference games. 3. Conference Championship week is moved up one week. 4. Elite 8 of CFB takes place either the week after Conference Championship or 2 weeks after. 5. Literally everything else stays the same. 6. Profit
  7. Which is what I'm talking about. McVay is the model now. Hire an offensive genius as your Head Coach.
  8. More accurately, I think he thought going under center occasionally would make him tough again.
  9. I don't think our run scheme or personnel is that different than other Big 12 offenses. I definitely don't think power is unique to Texas' current staff. Remember how Gilbert's Oline coach called power "momma" and whatnot. We have a TE/HBack that is an elite blocker and we have a QB built to run between the tackles. I would say that's unique, but I don't think the Ohio State offense is that drastic a change for defenses. TCU and Kansas State held their own against us defensively. I just think Texas is finally at the point where we have the talent on offense (Ehlinger, Ingram, Beck, Johnson, Humphrey, oline) to finally take advantage of the fact that we have vastly superior talent on defense.
  10. Alex Barnes from KSU ran for 250 yards and 3 TDs on 22 carries yesterday against Baylor. I think this is Keontay Ingram's game to dominate.
  11. Their secondary is awful. For the first time this century it feels like, I can't name any of their linebackers after the RRS. I wasn't worried about a single dude on their defense. Oklahoma is going to be a dumpster fire after Kyler and Brown leave, and Riley decides to take an NFL job.
  12. Top 10 sounds right if you put the talent into perspective. The following guys are probably all under consideration for All Big 12 1st or 2nd team at the moment Ehlinger, Anderson, Johnson, Humphrey, Nelson, Johnson, Sterns, Jones, Boyd, maybe Omenihu And then we have guys who aren't at that level but are playing really well: Ingram, Beck, Cosmi, Davis, Wheeler, McCulloch. It's a pretty talented team. I have a feeling Ingram is about to start stacking up 100 yard games against the weak defenses we're about to face.
  13. Robert Mays has been talking on Twitter about how it's likely NFL teams will throw a lot of money at Lincoln Riley for several reasons. 1. Rams don't have an OC. Chiefs OC doesn't call plays. McDaniels left a team hanging at the last minute last time. So the typical NFL offensive genius hire isn't there. 2. He's the consensus "next offensive genius" in college. 3. Browns would love to make Baker comfortable. It's entirely possible that we never go against him again.
  14. A 1-loss OU in the CCG is just as appealing to voters. I also think it's possible Notre Dame and Clemson lose a game. If that happens, Texas doesn't need anyone else on the schedule to do anything. Winning out would be enough.
  15. Kind of shocked they moved LSU. But pleasantly surprised.
  16. Your team might be great and win the conference, and your QB might be truly amazing. But as of right now, you've played the easiest schedule in the conference. WVU could realistically start 8-0 and finish 9-3 with losses against Texas, TCU and OU. Enjoy it and all, but don't be confused why people aren't praising your team every week.
  17. The reporter who joked about how they call it "QB power and not QB draw" to emphasize that they're tough... made it pretty obvious he doesn't know what power is which is pretty embarrassing as a sports reporter. Especially since none of the three scores were power.
  18. Texas jumps: Oregon, Stanford, Kentucky, Michigan, UCF, Auburn, Oklahoma. Texas should jump but might not: Washington, Penn State, LSU, Miami. So I'll say we're probably ranked 12. Should be 8.
  19. http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=10410&ATCLID=1546006 According to that website, scoring differential is the first tiebreaker if Texas, OU and WVU all finish with one conference loss. "Scoring differential among the tied teams. The team or teams with the lowest difference between points scored and points allowed in games vs. the tied teams is eliminated from consideration." So blowing that huge lead yesterday could hurt us.
  20. Assuming the rest of the season goes great and we win out (obviously not a foregone conclusion and this could all crumble), I don't think it matters if we play OU or WVU in the Big 12 Championship game. What matters is that one of them wins out after they lose to us. Beating an 11-2 Oklahoma or 11-2 West Virginia twice gets us into the playoffs.
  21. All the dudes from that class just adored Murray. Malik called him the goat today (albeit while hyped about the win).
  22. What a beautiful way to enjoy OU tears. Ehlinger becoming legend.
  23. It feels even better beating OU knowing they lose Kyler and probably Brown next year. And it also wouldn't shock me if an NFL team went after Riley.
