  1. Why I'm hopeful for 9 wins: -It is insane how close Texas was to 10 or even 11 wins last year. USC, Tech, and Oklahoma State are all wins if Ehlinger doesn't turn it over at the end of each. Oklahoma was there for the taking. -We will most likely have 10 upperclassmen starting on defense and all of them are at least solid to potentially really good (Omenihu, Hager, Nelson, Johnson, Wheeler, Roach, Boyd, Davis, Jones, Locke) -Our defensive coordinator has prevented opponents from getting to 30 points in 31 of his last 39 games. Nobody in the Big 12 has yet to get 30 on him (in regulation). -The offense really just needs to be average, and their talent is about average (other than WR). -The Big 12 should be down, especially the teams that have consistently beaten us lately. Why I'm doubtful: -The offensive line. -Tim Beck -It's been so long, I'm beaten down.
  2. I haven't really had a favorite TV show since Mad Men ended and Game of Thrones started being lame. This has now taken the lead. The trailer for this show didn't sell me at all. It's so damn smart and funny.
  3. There seems to be a trend of British TV comedy writers who are creating really smart drama in or around their comedy. Auanucci - Veep/Thick of It to Death of Stalin Charlie Brooker - Yearly Wrap to Black Mirror Jesse Armstrong - Peep Show to Succession
  4. The amount of posts people have spent complaining about the color of the jerseys when it hasn't actually changed is pretty astounding. Right up there with the annual "wow *insert strength and conditioning coach* is really great. Look how jacked the players are" posts because guys have biceps and deltoids.
  5. Seeing them all mentioned at once makes me realize how much potential there is on the dline this year.
  6. I just dont get why Trinity Christian has two Ts in their logo.
  7. It will suck if we land in the mid lottery next year and don't get the pick. OKC, Boston and Golden State built contenders from drafting well 3-4 years in a row. But it was a risk we had to take. Doncic can be that good. I would prefer we target younger players in free agency since we likely won't get another elite player from the draft soon.
  8. I'll be patient if he struggles, but I kind of think that Doncic can be good faster than other guys in the draft. He's already been playing at a high level. Question now becomes who the Mavs target in free agency.
  9. So fucking happy. It's been a miserable few years, but we have hope now.
  10. If we get the guy I wanted months before the draft 2 years in a row, I might have to stop complaining about sucking in the draft from now on.
  11. Evil plan. Trade 5th pick to Boston for Brown, so Boston can take Bamba. Trade Barnes and future pick to Memphis for Parsons and 4th pick. Draft Bamba. Drink Boston tears. Build a core around DSJ, Brown and Bamba.
  12. Doncic is 6'8 and 288 lbs. It's not like they're drafting the same guy 2 years in a row. I'd like to see the two of them run a pick and roll
  13. You're all right and the Htown dude is wrong. Moving on to this thread's topic, Marc Stein says rival teams believe Sacramento is seriously considering Porter at 2. Some teams are always in the lottery for a reason. If you like Porter, trade down to 5 or 6 and get an asset. But I'm rooting for them to draft him at 2 so the Mavs can get Doncic or Jackson.
  14. Said it in the other thread, but I don't think Memphis wants to simply lose the pick to dump Parsons. They want to use a trade down to dump Parsons. Moving from 5 to 4 isn't worth taking on that amount of money. Memphis was tanking harder than any other team and embarrassing themselves in the process. They didn't do that to just do a salary dump.
  15. I think Memphis wants to use Parsons in a trade down, not a trade out of the draft or into another draft. It might be worth it for LAC to move up and take him. It would not be worth it for us to move up one spot and take that contract. With the Boston rumor and now this, I think media are leading fans on and getting their hopes up on some silliness.
  16. While this is my favorite show of all time, it's documented that Ambrose fabricated some of his writings and intentionally claimed some things that were proven to be false. Thankfully it's mainly small stuff with Band of Brothers, but it's much larger stuff with some of his other work.
  17. Scent of a Woman - Hallmark movie quality.
  18. Never mind. Bad memory on my part.
  19. Let Nolan have it when they go to a new Bond actor. Sometimes I think it'd be cool to take the series back to the 1960's. But I understand there are cons to that.
  20. Plus, it's discouraging that they still think he's a player you can build around. It tells me we don't exactly have a forward-thinking front office.
  21. I don't like the 5th spot simply because we're too low for Doncic and too high for one of the wings. I want to emulate Boston's strategy of loading up on interchangeable wing assets. Since the Mavs in 2011, it doesn't seem like teams are winning with 7 foot traditional centers. And this draft is a Center-heavy draft at the top. Who would be more likely to get playing time on a Finals team in the next 5 years? Ayton, Bagley Bamba or... Doncic, Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges Jackson Jr. is the only big who looks like a modern NBA big. And he doesn't really wow me. He just happens to be okay at the things that matter now. Oddly enough, I sort of envy the Clippers in having 2 late lottery picks. They can take the wing players that fall, and they get two.
  22. Yes, that's what I was saying. Packaging next year's first with this year's first. Ayton and Doncic are the two guys in this draft who have a chance to be franchise-altering-type players. I'd take either, and be happy for a long time.
  23. So Doncic is saying he's not sure if he will come over next year. I don't think it's a coincidence that he said this just after the Lottery. He probably doesn't want to go to Sacramento. Sacramento doesn't have a 1st round pick in 2019, so maybe they'd be willing to trade down if they could pick up somebody else's 2019 1st round pick. If I'm Dallas, I would give up next year's 1st for Sacramento's pick. Or at least a pick swap next year. Consistently drafting in the 5-9 range is what leads to sucking forever like Orlando and Sacramento.
  24. Saying "Mike & Mike was good" while criticizing anything else, really calls into question your taste.
