  1. What would be the penalty of waiving Mixon, looks more and more he's missing the entire season? Marks will be the full time starter by the end of the season.
  2. Davison is on a two-way, but they have spots to convert him to a permanent contract. Though I don't think they would make that move until his 50 games are used up. The two-way contract is much cheaper than a permanent one. I think if they keep him on the TW and convert him later they can still stay under the first apron.
  3. We recruit slow, fat, and unathletic OL under the guise of big humans and run a scheme that's almost impossible for them to execute consistently.
  4. Was it really that amazing? We got Banks and Williams, Campbell has been a bust, Agbo was converted to TE before he transferred and Robertson/Hutson are try hard guys that have had limited success. Williams leaving early really sucked, but we got Campbell for a 5th year instead and he's been OK, but definitely not a road grader and team leader needed right now. As much as I wish Manning would be faster with his reads and post snap decisions, the OL is like 85% of the problem with the offense right now.
  5. Yeah didn't they take a OT from Texas State who is now their starting RT? Baker isn't ready. I guess Cojoe's injury is having a bigger impact than we thought. If Stroh really gets any more playing time at Texas the coaching staff are just retards.
  6. Latest from Gerry... Hoops Recruiting: Texas doing well with two 5-stars With 4-star++ SG/W Bo Ogden (Austin/Westlake) in the boat, Sean Miller and staff are full steam ahead with the two top targets remaining on the board. Austin Goosby ... Texas continues to battle Duke and BYU for 5-star CG Austin Goosby (Melissa, Texas/High). The 6-foot-5.5 versatile guard has wrapped up the official visit process, and is now getting into evaluating options and making a decision. OTF has Texas in the lead, with a decision expected prior to late October. Cameron Williams ... The Longhorns continue to quietly be positioned in a good spot for 6-foot-11 power forward and future NBA lottery pick Cameron Williams (Phoenix, Az./St. Mary's). Williams and family absolutely loved their OV to Texas last month. Williams has continued to tell people behind the scenes that he really liked Miller, and the city of Austin. Williams made an OV to Duke last weekend, and has already made trips to Purdue and SMU in addition to Texas. He has trips scheduled to USC and Arizona the next two weekends. OTF hears an Arizona vs. Texas decision is where this is headed, but we don't want to discount Duke in any recruitment in which the Blue Devils are all in.
  7. Yeah, he's not ready to put the whole offense on his shoulders (not sure if he ever will be) and isn't getting any help from the OL running game to set him up ahead of the chains. I am guessing next Saturday is going to be game that is won or lost by how well the defense plays, because this offense against that OU front 7 is the biggest mismatch of the game.
  8. He showed it last year against similar competition that he faced in the 3 scrimmage games, but maybe the position of QB1 is just too much for him to handle. That's part of the problem though, film shows wide open WRs running across his face but he refuses to throw the ball waiting for the deep ball. He's really struggling reading defenses and Sarkisian's scheme is too hard for QBs that can't read defenses or see the field.
  9. The coaching staff did the equivalent of throwing Brooks under the bus by insterted him into the lineup. He has hardly practiced at LG, and really isn't a OG anyway. That the coaching staff would move Hutson to OC from a position he has not awful at in OG just shows how stupid they may truly be. How could you not move Hutson to LG and play Robertson over throwing a true freshmen into the mix to get obliterated.
  10. Arch just doesn't see the field at all, not sure if that can ever change. He's essentially a one read QB three years into the system.
  11. Yeah, both losses were due to horrible TOs on potential game winning drives. 1 by a scrub STs that should have never been given reps over Woody Marks and 1 by our AP WR. This complete ass kicking had to be a very cathartic moment for this franchise to do what they have never done in Baltimore. Even with the missing talent on the sidelines, we whipped their asses from the opening kickoff and did it by featuring the rookie offensive draft class all fucking day. Credit the Caley and the OL coach they seem to have found something with this current group of five, hope they can stay healthy the rest of the season.
  12. Fixing the defense had little to do with Patterson and more to do with getting better players. Kwiatowski had plenty of skins on the wall to need Patterson. The problem with the defense is the giant hole Bo Bavis left in his room when he left and having to overspend on DT talent from the portal. Now, Flood has had 5 years and gotten almost every player he wanted and the OL looks completely lost. There were veterans in the portal available to replace the 4 starters that were lost. hell OSU lost just as much as we did and went to the portal and their OL is getting better as the season goes, ours has gotten much worse. It's been 5 years and the same simple stunts and simulated pressures confound this OL consistently. Of course, it also doesn't help that Sarkisian's system offers few quick throws and doesn't try to take advantage of the middle of the field with in breaking routes and slants unless it's a RPO.
  13. The way Stroud is distrubiting the ball right now, give him a chance.
  14. DFA and try to sign him to a pillow deal.
  15. Damn, Lux lolly gagging in a playoff game, lucky for the Reds the rook comes through.
  16. Man, Steven Adams is so easy to cheer for, just a great character. Also appreciate that he understands his role, accepts it, and excels at it.
  17. I don't think their injury situation on defense is going to allow them to junk up their defense without it being a disaster for them.
  18. I hope our defense gets the first crack at the field on Saturday,
  19. The last time a new coach's 1st commit was an Ogden, that coach went on a great run at Texas.
  20. No Espada hate has to do with his lack of doing anything outside the box to help the team score runs, his constant desire to put his thumb on the scales with the new lineup every night, and his horrible use of the bullpen that lead to multiple relievers being oversued and injured.
  21. Spotrac has him at $33M which is the most of all the FA pitchers. Just no way the Astros should do that.
  22. There is pretty decent market on starting pitchers after the big names like Sale, Framber, Giolito, Bassitt, and Cease come off the board. Guys that have had quality seasons in the past but have an injury, age, or poor performances Jordan Montgomery Frankie Montas Tyler Anderson Steven Matz Tyler Mahle Aaron Civale Martin Perez Jose Quintana All these guys project under $10M for next season. We really only have 1 guy in our rotation that we can count on in Hunter Brown. So I think you are going to need to sign at least 2 guys from the list of 2nd/3rd tier. I don't think Crane will spend for a true #2 guy. McCullers, Blubuagh, Javier, Arrighetti, France, and Ullola are all wild cards, but if healthy those guys are all capable of delivering 3-6 rotational results. Wesneski, Blanco, Walter, and Garcia are obviously out for most if not all the season.
  23. He's the best back on the roster right now. Real 3 down back that is not afraid to get physical on blitz pickup.
  24. Cole looks like he could be a strong side platoon guy in CF. His SSS in the majors was in line with his minor leauge splits, but they need to be active in the trade market for 2nd tier non-QO free agents to fill holes at 2B and CF.
