  1. the fuck[ed] Catalina Wine Mixer...
  2. that's crazy. it's also why I'm a packrat. I think still have 2 brand-new X-9 rear ders stashed. I saw them go on closeout, so between me and a buddy, we bought out the rest of Jenson's stock. I think we each got 4 or 5. great ders. years before that, I was having issues with a 9spd der and got a couple of busted X-0 ders from Hammerhead (carbon fiber cages---never a good idea) to harvest the springs out of. I ended up finding a different root cause to the problem, but held onto those old der bits, as well as a few of my own that got bent beyond use, since then. only recently, did I clean out a few boxes of worn out parts, only to regret it later when I came up with an idea for a cool project. I bought shifter cables in a box of 10, and a whole spool of housing, a while back. little shit like that I never want to be the reason I couldn't ride on a given day. broke a cable at the trailhead, a month ago and decided then to start carrying a spare in my pack, and another in my glove box. got poured on near the end of a ride on Wednesday, so Thursday seemed like a good day to finally break down and service my bb and rear hub over my morning coffee. and now it's gonna rain all weekend...
  3. battery in my wife's car died at her office. between her, one of her millennial coworkers, and Google, they still couldn't figure out how to jump it. I had to drive down 360 from Spicewood Springs Rd to BeeCaves Rd and back at 5pm to jump it for her to get home so Icould pull it and take it to Autozone after dinner to get it tested/replaced (didn't want to have to jump it again). a few years before that, her battery died on us up in Dallas, while visiting her mother. Autozone was a block away, so I just let them do it, not having any tools with me, etc. felt like a millennial, standing there with my thumb up my ass (metaphorically speaking) while the kid replaced the battery in the parking lot.
  4. @Pescado_Rojo, carbon or aluminum frame? threaded or pressfit BB? either way, it's not bad, just that threaded is A LOT easier. one wrench, and maybe an old butter knife to pop off the dust covers, depending on the brand. if you've got Shimano pressfit, just plan on ordering a whole new BB, because you're going to destroy it getting it out of there. plastic crap. for a replacement, I highly recommend Wheels Mfg. parts. I'm fixin to replace my pf BB92, and will order the Wheels type that is actually a hybrid. instead of the bearing cups threading into the frame, the two halves of the BB thread together in middle of the BB housing. this means you can use the standard threaded BB wrench to pull them for service. when I first replaced my Shitmano BB92 with Wheels, they hadn't come out with it, yet. however, the Wheels BB92 I have has an aluminum body and the bearings are easy to clean and regrease. I also got their press kit which is useful for my headset, as well. hit me with a pm if you want to talk about it, some more. no good reason to wait in line for shop service on a BB.
  5. yeah. irresponsible speculation on my part. I apologize. but the meltdown from The Artist Formerly Known as Derka on Surly Day 1 was freakin epic.
  6. anyhoo, what I don't get is people with live cameras mounted all over their house. I'm thinking of the wives thread post where she falls over a chair (let's pretend it wasn't staged). I can see having a Ring rig, but inside? do people really do that? that would drive me insane. similarly, I refuse to ever have a Dot, or Alexa or any other listening device. creeps me tfo.
  7. yeah, I think 2.0 is spystud13. I hadn't even seen the non-2.0 s_o (I have almost zero interest in basketball and very little time to follow EPL), so I'll take your word for it that it's Goo. did we ever get an answer on who scooped Derka from Derka when Surly started up (which I think was hilarious, btw)? because with this new shit come to light, I'm thinking it was spystud13.
  8. firewood seller guy on 360 is a trail shitter. trail section that passes nearby looks like a fuckin Roman army encampent when he's working. if I ever feel the need late at night, I'd like to drop a cobra at his parking spot.
  9. Dear Duck: We've all seen how you prepare bacon. You are disqualified from any discussion involving thermo-dynamics. Please find a better wifestupidshit anecdote. Respectfully, wd
  10. I don't understand how anyone sets foot in Bull Creek, right now. rode the trail up to the top of St Ed's and down yesterday, and up the creek all the way to the T at Old Lampasas. pretty stagnant. and yet, cars all up and down Old Spicewood, still. BCGB, same deal. May, maybe June, in a wet year: primo. now, not so much. but there is some diehard buttfloss to be seen in places upstream. loved Krause, back in the day. it was very much less rustic, last time I was there than when we went when I was a kid, many years ago. actual steps down to the pool. but it didn't stop some jagoff from climbing over a chain at the top of the waterfall and jumping to his eventual death. kind of put a damper on things. so...don't be that guy.
  11. poke yourself in the finger with the exact-o, RD? I didn't realize how big an industry you're in. seems like a lot of folks doing this sort of work. but I like your style (heavy weathering and despair) .
  12. that sucks, man. 2020 strikes again. I guess it's better than finding out the hard way and eating your front tire, furthest from the truck.
  13. I have these 160s I'll never use again. shoot me a PM if you're interested.
  14. in a word? solid. I will say no more til you spill the deets on that monster in the fishing thread. any dumbass can go to Angel Fire bike park and have a good time. landing a fish like that is something truly special.
  15. wait. were you just there this week? anyhoo. all the way home, I was thinking there'd be no way to condense all the footage down to a short enough video that it wouldn't put people to sleep. turns out I was wrong. I struggled to find enough to fill one song, and I still almost fell asleep. because it's what I do, here you go. it'll never do it justice. so fun. the Diesel section looks weird to me on youtube. looks fine on the original file, but it seems chunky and slow on youtube. the rest looks decent. maybe I'm just sleep deprived.
