  1. and the kid's name? Thadeus
  2. how gauche in my house, I clean the cast iron and the kitchen knives. It's worth it.
  3. Thanks, Braff. that one drop is higher than my saddle, so about 3' to the base of the ledge. the sloped landing zone adds at least a foot to that, depending on your speed and Red Bull level. funmeter was prettymuch maxed on each of the four runs I took at it, but it felt like butter. new fork, I guess. and the Cascade link. I run Minions, with a DHF 3C EXO Maxwhatever up front, and a DHR DoubleDown in the back, since I seem to be much harder on my back tire (rocky landings, etc.). my brief racing days are way behind me, so I accept the major weight penalty in favor of not worrying about it. fwiw, my riding bros that spend way more time reading and researching bike stuff are pimping Specialized Butchers as the next "best ever".
  4. got my ass beat on Wednesday, sailing, of all things. one last jibe to get out of my gusty cove, and got slammed into the white caps, then turtled; then turtled again when I got it back up, rinse and repeat, more times than I can remember. obviously, I eventually got back, but I'm still just a ball of bruises and pulled muscles. but I've been wanting to session this new section since I first saw it about a month ago, and I knew it'd be hero dirt, today. almost every landing on this trail is off-camber, esp if you know how to jump--which I still don't.
  5. I did something similar, some years ago. not that knuckle, but the next one further out on my ring finger, iirc. used a loop of velcro as a quick-and-dirty, removable splint. doc was kinda impressed with the "device". since then, I don't bother with xrays on stuff like this. if it's not poking out, there's really nothing to be done but maybe tape it up. semi-related: I don't remember why I bought it, but I picked up one of those spandex "copperfit" sleeves, I think for my knee. never worked as advertised, but it works great as a bandage wrap. just carry it and some gauze pads and you can cover just about any gash until you get to the truck. machine washable. I've actually loaned it to buddies who've had some deep cuts, grazing stumps and whatnot. don't have to worry about tape not sticking, and it gives some compression to the wound.
  6. fuck Festival People in their goat asses. and for the ravers especially, fuck their parents, too, for producing this trash.
  7. speaking of incels, check out this posterchild
  8. wrist is still not 100% (see skateboarding thread). hit the greenbelt with the boys, this am. the pucker factor on the first drop in this video was huge for me, today. after getting that out of the way, it was all good times. 10.5 miles and >1200ft of climbing. not bad for only my second ride after a month off.
  9. eh? Angel Fire is just down the road from you (Taos, right?), and has a progressive drop zone off by itself, so you can session it. it's also 98% tables tops. the few gaps are on the double-black trails.
  10. dude duck says, "hold my beer"
  11. yeah, that freaked me out. I don't remember a lot from the early days (meds, plus being in 2016 or so), but you can see pieces of gauze stuck to some of the sutures, so I'm guessing I took that pic shortly after unwrapping it, some time after I got home from the hospital. probably within 2 weeks of the fall. it's like my body immediately decided I wasn't going to be using that leg for a while. My riding brothers found that skid in the woods (was an old trail bridge) and used it as a stretcher to carry me out. I'll never forget that. Glad I wasn't alone, that day.
  12. for me how it started how it went how it ended (the screws worked loose after I'd been back on the bike for a while, so it all had to come out)
  13. but since Prius drivers can neither drive nor park, how does this fix anything?
  14. should change the thread title to "shit's going UP with the Royals", amirite?
  15. also, did you know: leftover Dang Hot T22 takes longer to refrigerate? worth the wait. the hot and cold thing is exquisite. duality of chicken.
  16. anyhooo Trisket naoch, topped with heb bacon bits, washed down by the one with the deer.
  17. he could be Texzilla58888888888888 and he'd still be "the Helobious of the food board"
