  1. Oh yeah? Well I went to Gerald Myers basketball camp at Tech one summer (I guess we didn’t have Duke money). I don’t remember any of the coaches or players but I remember my brother and I buying like 4 volumes of the Truly Tasteless Jokes books at the campus library and learning all kinds of new words (I was 9 I think). I called some older kid a “cunt” that week and a minor scuffle ensued. I took a photo with some tech player but I have no idea who he was. He was grinning in the photo, maybe I told him one of my new jokes like your dad did with Coach K.
  2. I mean, I have too. But that doesn’t really make it any less stupid.
  3. I had never noticed this until late last year. What the fuck even is this, what’s the point, why do people like it? Why is this a thing?
  4. What the actual fuck? “None of that talent made it to the NFL?” Toward the end of that decade there were more NFL players from Texas than any other school. Texas also had the best W% among all power conference schools during that decade. So - the most NFL players, the best W/L record, but the recruiting classes were completely and intentionally overrated. Got it.
  5. People say the same about David McWilliams. People don’t say the same about Mackovic or Herman, because they were pricks. Terry has been around Texas for a while and has apparently treated people well. Let’s not make this anything more than that.
  6. What if I told you that that injuries to (1) a guy who has thrown more than 128 innings exactly once in his 10-year career and (2) a guy north of 40 years old should have been considered neither surprising nor particularly “unlucky”?
  7. I’m going to try to apply this logic with my insurance company - “sure my wife rear-ended someone each of the last two years, so you should drop my 2025 rates because because there’s no way it’ll happen again.”
  8. The most likely outcome is obviously somewhere in between these scenarios and something like 85-90 wins. There are probably 4 or 5 AL teams that should also be in that range.
  9. Look, the important thing here is that the face that dude makes in that gif is objectively hilarious.
  10. That would make me want him even less.
  11. Robert has played 68, 98, 145 and 100 games the last 4 years (he probably won’t be healthier as he gets older). He’s good and has the ability to be great, but I wouldn’t make that bet.
  12. I wonder if there is a Larry Walker Jr or Moises Alou Jr or Wil Cordero Jr or Archi Cianfraco Jr or Rondell White Jr. (Still irritating that the ‘94 strike more or less ended baseball in Montreal.)
  13. All of them are awful, MLB should stop trying to be like the NBA where every team has every color combo and multiple logos, get off my goddamned lawn.
  14. I think there’s a reasonable chance he does. He basically needs to be worth about 4-5 war / year (though that contract makes it somewhat difficult to assess performance value, given the options and deferred money). So if he produces, say, 5, 4, and 3 war seasons in ‘25-‘27, the Red Sox are probably happy. That doesn’t seem terribly unlikely.
  15. Holy shit forgot about those. Hilariously awful. These weren’t as bad but were also terrible:
