If Hunter Pence becomes a star and Brett Wallace is good the window is wide open until the end of Lance’s contract.
(and yeah, I know my years are all fucked up here)
I don’t think it should be banned, but I don’t see why it’s ok for offensive players to push each other forward but not defensive players. If we’re gonna scrum, both sides should have the same rules.
On its surface i don’t understand the problem with the tush push - except isn’t it already illegal for the defense to basically do the same thing? I don’t see why it would be illegal on one side of the ball and not the other.
Oh yeah? Well I went to Gerald Myers basketball camp at Tech one summer (I guess we didn’t have Duke money). I don’t remember any of the coaches or players but I remember my brother and I buying like 4 volumes of the Truly Tasteless Jokes books at the campus library and learning all kinds of new words (I was 9 I think). I called some older kid a “cunt” that week and a minor scuffle ensued. I took a photo with some tech player but I have no idea who he was. He was grinning in the photo, maybe I told him one of my new jokes like your dad did with Coach K.
What the actual fuck? “None of that talent made it to the NFL?” Toward the end of that decade there were more NFL players from Texas than any other school. Texas also had the best W% among all power conference schools during that decade.
So - the most NFL players, the best W/L record, but the recruiting classes were completely and intentionally overrated. Got it.
People say the same about David McWilliams. People don’t say the same about Mackovic or Herman, because they were pricks. Terry has been around Texas for a while and has apparently treated people well. Let’s not make this anything more than that.
What if I told you that that injuries to (1) a guy who has thrown more than 128 innings exactly once in his 10-year career and (2) a guy north of 40 years old should have been considered neither surprising nor particularly “unlucky”?
I’m going to try to apply this logic with my insurance company - “sure my wife rear-ended someone each of the last two years, so you should drop my 2025 rates because because there’s no way it’ll happen again.”
The most likely outcome is obviously somewhere in between these scenarios and something like 85-90 wins. There are probably 4 or 5 AL teams that should also be in that range.
