  1. Yep. The steal of home at the end of G1 in Lubbock gutted him mentally and emotionally.
  2. It appears Pierce disliked some of Allen's decisions, too. It's a bold move to fire a guy who has been with you for 10-11 years, working in multiple roles. Allen was basically Peter Principled. Pierce may have been able to work this stuff out at SHSU or Tulane and kept Allen on for recruiting, but with 2 paid assistants, 11.7 constraints, plus the portal, a guy who is a jack of all trades, master of none is eventually going to hit his head. I believe that's what happened here. Pierce knows the job expectations, so he's going to maximize. I feel pretty confident we'll get someone with no Texas ties, or that is currently coaching in Texas to manage the pitchers. But that coach is going to have some pretty solid credentials. He has to.
  3. If you have YoutubeTV, you are in luck - they're all there and accessible.
  4. USC can't recruit any top P5 coaches. The place has tuned into a busted Caprice sans tires sitting on the shoulder of the 405.
  5. Well, he is of German stock, so....
  6. Yeah, not with two paid assistants. And not to be the pitching coach either. Probably just for recruiting / talent assessment mainly to start.
  7. A third paid assistant would relieve a lot of pressure if the NCAA would get off their ass and just do it.
  8. Not sure that's CDC. A lot of it may be nudging from guys that played for Gus and Augie and CDC is just the mouth. It is what it is.
  9. Pierce also just proved he's definitely not Mack Brown, because he just fired his own Greg Davis.
  10. He knows Allen isn't trash and it's more of a hawt Twitter take about a guy that was just canned after going to the MCWS than his honest opinion.
  11. Agree to disagree, Kendall.
  12. So, AMC and the producers showed Episode 8 (airing on AMC July 11th) at the Tribeca Film Festival last night. Some spoilers below, but non-specific with respect to plot or what happened in Episode 8. Buckle in.
  13. Our Sunday starter went down in March with a TJ. In and of itself, did that cause a meltdown? No, but we weren't the same team and ultimately had to bang our way out of a super on the road to get to Omaha. If Tulo is gone, who is the replacement? Would we even worry about this during the Gus or Garrido years? I wouldn't. With Pierce, it is a concern.
  14. Bingo. Pierce is a good college baseball coach, but he's just not elite. I'm not advocating for replacement right now or anything, but we definitely need to be hunting the next few years with purpose. The probability Pierce evolves into an elite coach is pretty small.
  15. Harrison's not going to be a #1 or even #2 starter next season (if he is, whoa). He was a true freshman this year and should be a mid-week starter / sometime Sunday starter next season. He throws strikes and is sneaky fast. I used Harrison as an example of a guy I'm excited about for another reason - there's no one else I'm really that excited about. Whether that's emblematic of under-development of some of the guys on the current pitching roster or guys that regressed, namely Nixon, it doesn't really matter. We can't really afford to miss in the portal this season, and it's not like we only need one big arm.
  16. Well, if you think this is a "bit" is one thing. To discuss it the day after we got 2 and que'd is another. Should I wait until football season? When's gon' be my time?!?
  17. So, Skenes is going to come pitch for the nationally renowned.....checks notes....Sean Allen?
  18. So Skenes is going to be in the lineup every game, pitch every weekend, catch here and there, play a little 1B, and this will all help him go Top 10 in the first round? All while playing for another team?
  19. Having to extend Hansen in too many games this season due to the shitshow that was the bullpen for sure was an impact on his late season decline. Gordon's a bullpen arm, unless he develops an out pitch or seriously improves his command. I don't know what Harrison is, but I'm excited to find out. I think he's a starter. What else is there? Not much, imo. Skenes coming here is just wishcasting at this point, but he's a DH/1B. Pierce can keep working with pitchers, but he really needs some serious soul searching about the composition of his staff, assuming Tulo is gone. Sean Allen may not be a liability, but the result this season showed he's not a plus pitching coach either.
  20. Lotta sunshine getting pumped on this thread. I'd like to be that hopeful too, but dang.
