  1. Do conservatives in your every day life really go around referring to themselves as fascists and nazis? Texas seems weird.
  2. You're not wrong, those are two more terms that have nearly lost all meaning because they're abused and overused.
  3. People aren't fascists or nazis simply because they have a different opinion from you. Most people in this country are decent people just trying to get by. If you lump them all into a basket with horrible terms like this you lose all credibility.
  4. I mean, it's the playbook for both parties. I was strictly referring to her choice to ignore opposing viewpoints though because she sees them as not worth her time as if they're beneath her.
  5. If you keep going through life refusing to listen to the other side, or you see yourself as better than them, you'll never understand why this election was lost.
  6. Tell me, what did Biden do that was different from Trump's approach? Biden didn't put in more lockdowns and layoffs, many businesses were actually reopening that year. There were the same masking mandates, or in cases they were lifted. Biden had the jab right at the start, that was nice for him. You're going to honestly tell me in hindsight that Biden or some other politician was going to do a better job at stopping a global pandemic? Or, you know, you can just admit that the pandemic was politicized because it was the only way Democrats were going to upset Trump's bid for a 2nd term in 2020.
  7. Full-on regard, stupid, Dotard, Nazi. I feel like I'm one "MAGAT" away from liberal bingo. You bring a compelling argument. Trump didn't create the group. The Heritage Foundation was created in 1973 it looks like, back when Trump was still a Democrat. True, some of his former staff joined the Heritage Foundation. If someone leaves the company you work for and begins working for another company...are they still part of your team? $700 billion, huh? You would think such a number would have drawn a reputable news source to cover it. Are you sure this wasn't some propaganda you bought into?
  8. COVID was happening regardless who was in office. You could have had FDR, Lincoln, or Kennedy in office, the people that died were still going to die. That's how global pandemics work, they tend to transcend politics. Viruses don't care who you vote for. Again, more died by September of 2021 under Biden than under Trump in 2020, despite Biden having the jab at the start of his term. This argument goes nowhere. The people that died on Jan6 died of heart attacks and an overdose, other than Babbitt who was shot by police. Do you care about those "insurrectionists" that died? What about BLM? They did millions in property damage over the riots. I was told property is meaningless.
  9. Trump talks a big game, but he doesn't really follow through on threats. He said he was going to lock up Hillary, there was no such attempt. That's how he operates. The fear mongering is typical election drama that every politician uses. We were told Trump would launch nukes day 1 before his last term, never happened. It was a relatively peaceful 4 years by most Presidential standards. P25 is more of that, it's not part of his platform, but it was used as a Boogeyman to scare voters all the same. All the doom and gloom we're seeing in this thread is a repeat of 2016. Everyone survived those 4 years, everyone will survive the next 4. Anyone suggesting anything different is not rationale, they're thinking emotionally and not logically.
  10. Yeah, that deadly insurrection you guys like to clutch pearls over. Buncha Boomers were going to usurp the government with the most powerful military in the world! All while wielding selfie sticks and flag poles. We really dodged a bullet.
  11. Kamala far outraised Trump in campaign funds. There were no shortage of propaganda ads about the Project 2025 Boogeyman, along with other horrors Trump would bring during a second term that he never touched during his first. Both sides used fear mongering and propaganda to manipulate sheep, it's what they do. The gullible ones eat it up and vote accordingly.
  12. Truth. Such is the way of things, such is the cycle. A lot of people talked about dismantling the Electoral College and have claimed the GOP would never win another Presidency, but last night turned that idea on it's head. In truth, even if Trump didn't win the popular vote, if the EC was dismantled it would never be straight Democrats for the rest of time. Election strategy would just change. Instead of doing 100 rallies in Pennsylvania and a few swing states you'd see candidates expanding their reach. GOP would hit California and New York, Democrats would hit Texas and Florida, etc. Not a bad idea in theory, but it would probably result in a lot more chaos that politicians don't really want to deal with I'm guessing. Easier to try and win 4-7 states as oppose to 25+. I think a lot of people don't understand how the two party system works and how it's nothing but a construct to keep both sides divided. It's why the established politicians take separate sides on every issue and refuse to agree on anything. If they all agreed, then there would be no one to blame when shit inevitably hits the fan (And it always hits the fan at some point). That's why anytime a party is in power for a period of time there's an eventual blowback. The losing party moves closer to center, runs on "change," and they find themselves back in power. We do this dance till the end of time.
  13. Biden didn't fare any better with COVID, there were actually more deaths by September of 2021 than in 2020 under Trump, despite Biden having the jab to start his tenure. It was a global pandemic, a suit in Washington wasn't stopping it, and it wouldn't matter who was in charge from the beginning. Those deaths were always going to happen. https://ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/health/2021/10/06/u-s--covid-deaths-in-2021-top-2020-total
  14. And, like this reply, I'm seeing a lot of denial here along with a lack of rationale.
  15. How was a suit in Washington going to stop a global pandemic, the likes of which hasn't been seen in a century? Biden fared no better, he had more deaths by September of 2021 than Trump had in 2020, and that was after having the jab at the start. That's how global pandemics work, nobody is really safe, and there's really little you can do to control it.
  16. You might consider some self reflection. I'm not the one hurling out nothing but name calling. Come back when you can contribute something constructive.
  17. There was some talk about it last election when he started cutting into the latino vote, but there's a thing about latinos pulling up the ladder behind them. Apparently those that are here legally don't approve of those that got here otherwise. I'm not sure I buy that, but that was the explanation. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/aug/10/election-latino-voters-texas-trump
  18. What went far worse the first time? It was a relative peaceful period. Economy was decent pre-global pandemic. Low inflation. Housing prices started going up. Some of us got bonuses from the tax breaks.
  19. That profoundly stupid man somehow managed to win the Presidency twice. Must have been luck. Richly rewarded? His net worth went down the years he was in office. If he's a vengeful person it seems all the attacks over the years were poorly considered. We heard all these things before the 1st presidency. There's a lot of worry over worst case scenarios that will ultimately never occur. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss (More or less).
  20. And you assumed I was talking about his daughter when I was referring to his family, hence the use of "They." If I was talking about the daughter I would have used "She." If pronouns are a problem for you my daughter tutors 2nd graders, I'm sure she can help.
  21. Need a charismatic Midwestern type that appeals to the swing states. Another California progressive probably doesn't fly. Shapiro might work.
  22. Friend, I was responding to Scheiss first when you butted in. Hence the plural reference to their LGBT family members. It's not always about you.
