Truth. Such is the way of things, such is the cycle.
A lot of people talked about dismantling the Electoral College and have claimed the GOP would never win another Presidency, but last night turned that idea on it's head. In truth, even if Trump didn't win the popular vote, if the EC was dismantled it would never be straight Democrats for the rest of time. Election strategy would just change. Instead of doing 100 rallies in Pennsylvania and a few swing states you'd see candidates expanding their reach. GOP would hit California and New York, Democrats would hit Texas and Florida, etc. Not a bad idea in theory, but it would probably result in a lot more chaos that politicians don't really want to deal with I'm guessing. Easier to try and win 4-7 states as oppose to 25+.
I think a lot of people don't understand how the two party system works and how it's nothing but a construct to keep both sides divided. It's why the established politicians take separate sides on every issue and refuse to agree on anything. If they all agreed, then there would be no one to blame when shit inevitably hits the fan (And it always hits the fan at some point). That's why anytime a party is in power for a period of time there's an eventual blowback. The losing party moves closer to center, runs on "change," and they find themselves back in power. We do this dance till the end of time.
