  1. Some interesting numbers…. During WW2 the US Armed Forces reached a total peak strength of almost 18,000,000 service members. The civilian & military bureaucracy inside the Pentagon numbered 33,000. That’s 1 paper shuffler per 545 service members. In 2024 the US Armed Forces total strength was 2,127,000. The civilian & military bureaucracy working inside the Pentagon numbered 23,000. That’s 1 computerized shuffler per 92 service members. Makes me wonder what the ratios are at all the US military installations.

  17. My son was a pretty good scratch golfer back in his high school & college days. He could have taken a partial scholarship tp play for SWT, but turned it down because he claimed it would interfere with his social life. When he started his long career at a regional banking system, he was put in charge of organizing golf tournaments whenever staff traveled to bank conferences or hosted such in Austin. He was happy to hand that chore off to younger & better players after he gained some seniority.
  18. Was that you humping the broad one morning on top of the entry stairway balustrade in front of the Union back in 1962? Pretty bold move in those days.
