  1. I think it's fair to be asking questions about the circumstances, how long she had been feeling this way, did she screw the team by not admitting this yesterday, etc. But I also think it is fair to praise the decision to step away for mental health reasons in the face of all of the expectation and knowledge that you might face a lifetime of scrutiny. I don't think this is an either/or scenario. I don't her caught up on labels like "heroic." Here's what I know-- she went undefeated for something like 19 straight meets. She is the GOAT. She quit in the middle of her meet and put her team in a tough situation. All of those things are true and will define her legacy.
  2. Throughout her career Biles has represented the US, Texas, and hell the Houston area with excellence. She is the unquestionable GOAT. This would be a crappy way to end her career, but she doesn't owe me anything and I give Biles credit for realizing she wasn't in the right headspace. You can suffer life changing injuries in gymnastics if your head isn't right. It's the same reason football coaches don't want players to be timid on the field. It wasn't that long ago that an American gymnast became a quadriplegic and eventually died from injuries suffered in the vault. In Tokyo. I think at least one college gymnast has died from a fall as well. Biles and her coaches made the right call in that moment. I'm sure there will be questions about how long this has been brewing in her mind, whether she should have gone to Tokyo, etc. But she absolutely did the right thing in stepping aside so her inevitable low scores (more execution penalty due to not living up to high starting score) didn't hurt the team anymore than the mid air vault abort already had. There were three other world class gymnasts on the team that would be able to step up. And to their credit, those other girls stepped up in a huge way and fucking WON the silver. I hope their triumph isn't overshadowed tonight.
  3. Hope we included a sell-on clause.
  4. If a guy's game is postponed and nary a pitch was thrown, you should be able to replace him in the starting lineup after the postponement is announced with a guy whose game hasn't started.

Might be a bit of a derail, but our go to place was always Hao-Q, and I am heartbroken about it. Wife died last year after cancer battle and husband/daughter sold/closed earlier this year. As many here know, this was the same couple that ran Hoa Hoa in Dobie for so many years.
  6. It is.
  7. Happy Endings was one of those perfectly cast ensembles. Speaking of Cuthbert, I still chuckle when I think of the cougar story arc on 24. https://www.vulture.com/2013/12/24-kim-bauer-cougar-trap-episode-oral-history.html
  8. I want Ohtani, who I believe is as clean as can be, to hit 74. Probably not happening this year, but he is young so a guy can dream.

Dean The Giant Henderson is hurt, so England hopes are gonna rely on Pickford if this goes to penalties...
  10. Real happy for Lio. Man I wish he scored in the 88th.
  11. Messi is just 45 mins away. Get it done.
  12. If we really like one guy more than everybody else, then give Detroit #2 and back their pick so they aren't banned from trading first rounders until 2029. And maybe add a cherry on top. With such a strong top 3 in this year's draft, that would be a compelling offer for Detroit to trade us the #1.

  16. Messi deserves to win a trophy with Argentina before he's done. This might be his last chance. Let's go Albicelesete.

Southgate needs to play Mount and Grealish together. Those two are also most likely to get/keep Captain Harry going.
  18. Wonder what kind of contract Ohtani would command on the open free agent market today.
  19. I wonder if I will kick myself for not trying to sell high on Schwarber. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

  21. David's record coaching young kids up through the ranks is stellar. But I think he is perfectly placed at head of the national cricket academy/development program, and I doubt he wants to waste time with the political nonsense that comes with being the men's team coach.
  22. Somebody convince Detroit to take whoever the new Darko is.
  23. We sending Dream to the lottery on Tuesday.
  24. Also, this pleases me greatly if true -- good guys have reportedly agreed to personal terms with Haaland. https://www.si.com/soccer/chelsea/transfer-news/report-chelsea-agree-personal-terms-with-erling-haaland
  25. Yeah I get that and was on the same page as you. But I dunno, I like that Grealish has a bit of that fuck you up and also zero fucks to give energy. Reminds me of this guy and this story -- https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/how-diego-costa-introduced-himself-at-chelsea-i-go-to-war-you-come-with-me-10422306.html Mourinho's Figo comparison isn't a bad one, but obviously Grealish has a long way to go to get there.
