The only pick I ran out of time on was Machado in the third. I queued him as a backup but wanted to find a different position that was worth it because I already had Devers. Oh well, maybe it'll still work out... as long as the idiot doesn't do more damage to his leg failing to break a bat over it.
I think the only way to avoid the Korea series stats from counting league-wide is to finish the draft on a different day: "Any league which finishes their draft after all of Week 1's action has completed will begin their season with 2024's second scoring period (Week 2), which runs from April 1-7." https://www.espn.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/id/39435790/espn-fantasy-baseball-mlb-seoul-series-faq-2024 But it's going to be near impossible to agree on a new draft time this late, so I say we just plow ahead.
It's insane that a reigning (and two time!), healthy, and 31 year old Cy Young winner still isn't signed 10 days before opening day. I think a significant reason for it is the impact of analytics, which has Snell rarely pitch deep into the 3rd time through the lineup and also has teams prize the draft picks they would lose by signing a free agent like him. If I'm right, it's just the latest piece of evidence that MLBPA screwed up on the current collective bargaining agreement.
Can surly lawyer mafia explain this? There's an incredibly small number of color trademarks (Texas burnt orange is actually one of them, along with Tiffany blue, UPS brown, and T-Mobile magenta) and I don't remember the Houston Oilers blue being on that list. And no actual consumer (football fan) is actually gonna confuse the Houston Texans with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans when the teams hate each other and play against each other twice a year. Why can't we just tell the Titans to pound sand if they try to stop us from using a particular color? Is the NFL being overprotective?
The pitch was not ideal for batting, but it wouldn't explain the extent of England's collapse. I think a lot of it also had to do with India's spin dominance and England's lack of experience playing in such conditions. It got away from England at the end of Day 2 when they couldn't make their dominant position count.
The talk in here about Yordan batting leadoff is giving me flashbacks to all of the handwringing and hairpulling in here about Springer/Altuve batting leadoff. Yeah we maximize plate appearances, but every solo homer is another 50 message board posts about it.
Yeah Himalaya, London Sizzler, and Shiv Sagar all being in the same strip mall makes for maybe my favorite go-to location in the Gandhi District. Definitely try Shiv Sagar if you haven't, best Indian chaat-type food ("snacks", but loose translation as portions can be plenty big) in town.
That's the big question, especially because 4th innings Ashwin was likely going to be the lead bowler. I'm expecting an earlier than usual (before tea) declaration from India so that the weakened bowling crew has enough time to get 10 wickets. Or India could screw it up again and be all out before lunch... who knows.
