  1. futureman : bad takes :: fancy cheese : fine wine
  2. Whereas Aliens was distinctly an action flick (is there any other James Cameron setting?), Alien was absolutely a chilling horror slow burn that happened to be set in space. The first sequences with the camera roving through the empty corridors of the ship will always be masterful to me to begin building tension, with the payoff being the "chestburster" scene (which, in itself, is a masterful scene of editing and sound design). +1 for Alien and The Thing being masterpieces of genre-bending horror that don't get enough respect in the horror canon and still hold up admirably.
  3. Paul Thomas Anderson having never won an Oscar is pretty tragic, as well as unlucky (TWBB paired with No Country).
  4. Something about a spider and two bananas..
  5. Zemeckis’ Forrest Gump winning best picture over Pulp Fiction and Shawshank. The King’s Speech (which is a fine film but doesn’t hold up) winning BP over The Social Network, Black Swan, and The Fighter. (I consider The Social Network and Zodiac two of the greatest modern films)
  6. Quite the group of early enrollees.. Gotdamn.
  7. You don't think it had more to do with a lot of senior contributors on the roster last year, and Herman's insistence on sticking to upperclassmen (*coughHager*)? We may well have real needs for younger players to step up at LB, DT, CB and RB in the first part of next season.
  8. Point taken on Owens. I also didn't list Tyler Johnson as Day One. I think Floyd will bring a mentality that you can't teach from the moment he steps on campus. I'd agree with Fud that Whittington may be the safest bet for the beginning of next season as an EE.
  9. It’s clear to our fans, regardless of rankings, Texas is getting Day One game changers in Smith, Whittington, Brown, Floyd, and Owens. You add in Washington, TJohnson, Roshon, KWatson, and developmental guys like Warren, Sweat, Hookfin, and Mpagi, and this is starting to look like a competitive playoff roster. Pretty incredible what Herman has achieved in two years, and what CDC has done in one. 🤘🏻
  10. I think people complaining about the *free* information dug up by other posters spending time to do so is, frankly, doltish as fuck, esp when considering how much drivel on this board is just smart asses needlessly pumping their own inflated egos. Thanks @Machinator, @Fud, @satyanash, @texifornia, @NoName, and others for taking the time to bring actual recruiting info to the board, however skewed that information reveals itself to be.
  11. As amazing as Collin and LJH have been for us, it's going to be fun watching much more WR team speed get incorporated into the offense next year. We can't just rely on jump balls down the sidelines on crucial 3rd downs. As Ehlinger takes another step forward, watch for far more slant and crossing routes over the middle.
  12. I dunno, but Sam should starts next year.
  13. Let's keep recruiting Cali and Arizona hard in 2020, shall we?
  14. Dak and the 'Boys play better as underdogs, so I bet he has a good to great game passing. I see them beating LA and losing in the Superdome in a revenge game for the Saints.
  15. Tre Watson. I like who we have filling in for Omenihu, Gary Johnson, and Nelson next year. Ossai looks like a beast off the edge.
  16. We may well be the best contributor on this site this side of @Machinator. Thanks for being here.
