2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.
Nicole44 replied to bolverk's topic in Cloak Room
I just wish if they would all do it at the same time or get behind him 100%. Stop with half measures. Now you have a leaked phone call with a group of Dems and Biden scolding Jason Crow Bronze Star recipient. I mean just fucking A—either everyone says step aside it at one time or they need to get behind him. im pissy. I’m at an urgent care for extreme pain on my right front lower side and wifi isn’t great. what Biden said to Crow in leaked call that happened on Saturday before assassination attempt: "I put NATO together. Name me a foreign leader who thinks I'm not the most effective leader in the world on foreign policy. Tell me! Tell me who the hell that is! Tell me who put NATO back together! Tell me who enlarged NATO, tell me who did the Pacific basin! Tell me who did something that you've never done with your Bronze Star like my son—and I'm proud of your leadership, but guess what, what's happening, we've got Korea and Japan working together, I put AUKUS together, anyway!" ————- Either everyone makes a unified front in telling him to step aside or they need a shut the fuck up. Repubs do not need to attack Joe when his own party is kicking him in dick hourly. -

Never take for granted any real nor perceived lead in the polls. A lot can happen. Talking about the future of the country and plans for a second term can help more than talking about past accomplishments. It seems like those in charge of Trump’s campaign have already accepted the possibility Biden won’t be the candidate. So they are ready to pivot. The Trump campaign has the luxury of criticizing the last four years to appeal to their base. Whether it’s Biden or not Dems need to pivot towards the plans for the future. Jmo. there is some disconnect between the voters being polled and Biden’s accomplishments the last four years. Or he wouldn’t have had a 37% approval rating going into the debate. so my question is: why do Dem party leaders keep kicking Biden in the dick at every turn? They are destroying their own candidate. Is the plan to just go ahead and get him nominated so the convention isn’t a mess and then strong arm him to step down in September? Because no attempts to get him to step down have been working. again all this is hypothetical. The last month has been crazy and anything can happen including Repubs getting over confident and imploding plus some crazy October surprise. But I do not understand the Dem strategy right now. You can’t attack Trump effectively while simultaneously attacking Biden giving Repubs more talking points. The repubs who might have gleefully tried to 25th Amendment Biden’s ass now aren’t really interested in helping take him down bc they’d rather face Biden. It’s a fucking mess. It doesn’t have to be that way. -

It really feels like upside down world but it’s really to advance AI. Which many think will make it upside down world. “Driving the news: Venture capital billionaires Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz each will make donations to former President Trump's election effort, Axios has learned. The "techno-optimists" Andreessen and Horowitz are following hot on the heels of Elon Musk's announcement that he would endorse Trump and form a PAC to aid his campaign. Between the lines: Andreessen Horowitz, the VC firm the pair co-founded in 2009, said late last year that its partners would begin making donations to political candidates they saw as "advancing technology." https://www.axios.com/2024/07/17/trump-andreessen-horowitz-tech-billionaires I think the simulation is just making up its own shit. Sarah Conner warned our asses and we wouldn’t listen. Just waiting on some new start up to be called SkyNetU or some shit. It doesn’t help that the Director of SS is blaming a sloped roof. Further proof the simulation is malfunctioning. -

Still like 15 weeks to go, the DNC and the October “surprise” but I took a picture of this screen. Sorry my CC blocked the top of the headline but it’s basically the four potential candidates polling ahead of Biden. The bottom headline is the concerning one obviously. -

Probably. I just remember the presser back then and recall how upset the press was. “Who was in charge when W was getting his ass scoped? Why wasn’t proper procedure followed? Why wasn’t the document signed?” They were lit up about it. I always thought a President is as good as the people the President chooses to be around them. Always thought it was largely a group effort for many of the Presidents in my lifetime. I just wish the people in that room would run for office sometimes -
I’m not a fan of predictable pep rallies for politics. But according to this article here are numbers for 2020 for both party and the estimate for Night one of RNC. Most people don’t watch tv anymore but these numbers all pale next to the debates. “Nielsen estimates 18.13 million viewers tuned in to the first night of the Republican National Convention, the company said in a Tuesday release. In 2020, the first day of the RNC saw approximately 12 million viewers, according to Nielsen. This does not reflect anyone who streamed it online. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/07/16/rnc-ratings-day-1/74432490007/ 2020 RNC 2020 RNC Day 4 - 14.7 2020 RNC Day 3 - 11.0 2020 RNC Day 2 - 12.2 2020 RNC Day 1 - 10.7 2020 DNC 2020 DNC Day 4 - 15.6 2020 DNC Day 3 - 14.6 2020 DNC Day 2 - 12.6 2020 DNC Day 1 - 12.7 The last night of the convention typically draws the biggest audience.

Sometimes I wish the competent capable people in the room handling stuff would run for office. but maybe being the traveling figurehead type meeting with world leaders and shaking hands is the reason they are in the room. It’s just not their thing. I do remember early in W’s presidency (pretty sure this was before 9/11) where he had a colonoscopy and the people around him forgot to have him sign that letter (forget what it’s called) ceding his authority for the timeframe of the procedure. And it was like a big deal at the presser with the reporters screaming “who was in charge for that time? Who the fuck was in charge?” And it was officially no one but people were “in charge.” -

It may not matter. Private and public attempts whether halfhearted or not to get Biden to step aside have not worked. The primary focus should be down ballot races and trying to control Congress. If The DNC has the virtual roll call Biden will be the nominee. “Some lawmakers are uneasy about the Democratic National Committee's plans to forge ahead with a virtual roll call vote to nominate Biden weeks before the Democratic convention. "People are back to being angry at Biden and a push to sign on to this letter is going around ... the 'replace Biden' movement is back," a House Democrat told Axios.” -

I thought no matter if it’s Biden or not that the main focus was the House and the Senate. He was at 37% favorability before the debate so I thought quietly they were prepared to fight for the House/Senate regardless. Even prior to the debate. thats why when registered to vote fuckers say they won’t vote or will sit on their hands—-do they not understand the house and senate are important? Damn. -
They keep talking about the difference between the President and VP having enhanced SS protection vs a candidate. Until yesterday Trump had regular SS protection now his has been enhanced. At least what CNN was saying. So the difference in enhanced and regular is that with regular the local Pd is supposed to pick up slack and you get shot? Ok.

Don Jr loves him and that all that matters. And now Don Jr has facial hair. But it’s funny bc Rupert Murdoch was anyone but Vance. Will Vance shave his hair? lol. CNN saying that VP had to be chosen now bc of logistics of protecting other potential vp candidates. -
Hey just reporting the news. I don’t understand any of this. I likely never will. Even with more information. After seeing the crowd of MAGA pretty much yelling about the guy on the roof. None of it will ever just come together. Lots of hearings on this are forthcoming. Biden said he ordered this be investigated but it won’t ever stop the conspiracy theories. I saw a headline earlier that FBI said investigating act of domestic terrorism. And also that lady in black hat in white shirt sitting behind Trump at the event—people are attacking her on social media saying she was behaving oddly.

The zones around the RNC convention look nuts. Different groups protesting and other groups showing support. At the very least moving forward for other events with Biden/Harris and the DNC coming up I feel better about the protection now. It’s like after 9/11. Probably the safest time to fly. There will be a lot more safeguards in place. I was concerned about future events with other people. Bc of 1968.
-
Nope. But based on the AP pics that appeared to catch the bullet in the air headed at his ear it seems like he was grazed. When he fell there were tons of pics of him on the ground under the podium. In the interview he gave, the reporter wrote a small piece of his ear came off. So he had a CT scan. I’m guessing bc of ruling out a concussion but I’m not a doctor. But no mention of stitches or anything. I assume there were stitches whether grazed by a bullet or hit by glass. But he had a CT scan after.
-
That was the headline just now. It squares with what many of us thought. That SS likely thought the shooter was with PA LE. Until he opened fire. That is still a colossal failure but makes the most sense of all the theories.

I think the chart saved his life. Others are posting all over social media he was saved by God. He is saying that. I can’t answer the God question. But if he hadn’t been looking at the chart, a chart he has never used before in any rally and a direction he never looked before in any rally he would either be dead or critically wounded. Jmo.
-
He could have shot up the place where he worked and served meals and thankfully he did not. we know he missed. Wasn’t a great shot, Some attribute it to God. The reporter who interviewed Trump after said really that chart behind him that he had never used before at a rally saved his life. Because he would never turn to look in that direction at all in other rallies of his she covered. What was on that chart was numbers of immigrants crossing over the past few years. So he is turning to point at this chart something he has never done and said when you look at and then pow. So “illegals” saved his life. The chart was about them and he was turning to look at this chart. There you go.

The reporter on MSNBC earlier who has a good relationship with the SS: agents said the need more technology what happened yesterday was worst nightmare come true Not Enough SS and counter snipers to cover everyone and every event they have to cover so LE picks up slack in different places. Sometimes LE is understaffed. There is a lot of attrition as many SS are retiring. They are spread thin. they have many people in DC they must guard and counter sniper for and with the rallies by both candidates and Harris and also the conventions agents spread thin and are exhausted, none of this explains ladder boy on the one building with great sight lines to Trump. just paraphrasing the whole interview on MSNBC but that is what the reporter said,
-
True. Unfortunately, everything will continue to run like this until SS clarifies what happened. And they haven’t. I understand they may be limited in what they can say but for the rest of us we all would like to know what the fuck went wrong so it never happens again.

I think it’s mainly the long term vision for the future that will always keep us at odds. Both here and globally. And it’s sad. Because both sides believe they are right. Which is why I want a legit 3rd party of common sense ideas and vision. But we won’t ever have that,

I shouldn’t have called Penelope a bitch. I just get tired of being called a beating over and over. It’s one main reason I haven’t posted in months. But all of this stuff is so fascinating to me I wanted to have a place to share my thoughts. if you don’t already have me on ignore @PenelopeWitherspoon I am sorry I called you a bitch. Will curtail my post and remove the bitch part.
