    A Dark Winter is coming.

You seem to be a poet:

    The Road Not Taken

Launch Audio in a New Window
    BY ROBERT FROST
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

UT has taken the road of stupidity and unhinged long lost pride the last decade. if we haven’t offered for Urban (since the money is there I’ve been told) we are stupid. Period. The fucking money is there.

Who - besides Urban - would be good options?  Which of those would be interested and realistic?

    - Matt Campbell? Likely interested.

    - PJ Fleck? Likely interested.

    - Kyle Shanahan?  Any idea whether he has any interest in coaching in CFB?

    - Harsin?

    - I just doubt that they would go for Gundy or Patterson, even if they're interested.

    Who else?

I’d take Luke Fickell but I’ve mentioned it a few too many times. He’d be my choice if not Urban or Fleck. I don’t know of anyone else really. Unless we go the NFL coordinator route.

  3. Since it’s almost Halloween 🎃 this is my horror/nightmare scenario:

Riley gets hired by NFL team in a few weeks. OU donors have been prepared for him leaving for the next level (since it’s been mentioned lots in MSM that he would) and while they won’t have even close to our money have had their next hire in mind and won’t hesitate to offer/pull the trigger.

We beat OSU and somehow are able to play in the Big 12 and lose big. Our BOR and BMDs haven’t pulled the trigger on a new hire Bc Big 12 championship appearance. Even with all the national media talking about it and Urban. We didn’t offer...

OU hires Meyer. Since Meyer already has gear with the letters O and U on it and it’s a similar red he can just duck tape the S off shit if he’s a cheapskate. They kick our ass in recruiting and in the Big 12 for the next decade (even if Meyer doesn’t last for 5 years he will have left behind a successor of some sort they can promote). OU gets back to back recruiting top 5 classes.

Texas Monthly writes a major article on how Texas screwed up the Urban hire. That’s it. That’s my nightmare. I know it won’t happen...but the fact that it’s so vivid in my mind as being possible is Bc UT has done nothing over the last decade to make me think that it’s impossible.

Doesn't matter if he turns out or not, that's the national consensus. That looks terribad when you lose the commitment, number 1. Number 2: other top athletes are going to want to follow a generational talent, perceived or not.

That and Ewers grew up a Longhorn fan.

Its like that Jerry McGuire speech where he loses the number one pick the night before the draft. We are cloaked in failure. No CR Lol.

A decade of shit has taken a toll. If Urban says no, again the money is there and then some, or we don’t offer—-any new hire is gonna have a difficult time. Period. This person, if not Meyer, will have to be a proven developer of talent and will have to be able to win/have results on the field to regain status with future recruits.

they aren’t falling for our banana in the tail pipe smokescreen anymore.

Losing a consensus generational talent is really bad. When that talent happens to be a Longhorn fan from childhood it’s beyond bad.

Can somebody summarize the state of things? I know the product on the field is trash, the band isn't showing up, Coach Tom seems in over his head and a dick to boot, and apparently The Eyes isn't a source of pride for the program right now.

    What else is going on?

  6. My expectations are what and anger/raging apathy are in line with what has been promised the last ten years. To win the Big 12 and play in the CFP. That’s what we’ve been told by the last two HCs. That’s what us “overly passionate shithead fans” have been lead to believe our the goals of this football program. That’s why DMW UConn Tom keeps saying our goals are still ahead of us. If that’s not what the BOR or school wants, just tell us. Hire someone who’s an aw shucks great guy who will promise we will be competitive in all our games and try to make a bowl each season. Then y’all can blame us fans for being pissed because our expectations are not in line with reality or the program. Shit! Our expectations have not changed in the past decade—-nor have the goals of the school. So I am not ashamed for being pissed. It’s all I got left before I stop giving a shit. If the goals have changed, just tell us in no uncertain terms and I will spend my passion on other more productive outlets. Lol.

A loss to Okie Lite on Saturday gives CDC the cover and final nail for the coffin to finish the Herman era.

Once you know your head coach is no longer the guy, you remove them ASAP !!!

“Our goals are still ahead of us! It’s fixable!”  I shudder to think we are holding off on pulling the trigger (firing Herman now) because the powers that be think STILL think we can win the Big 12. I’d like to believe it is because we are awaiting a decision from the next HC (Urban). No matter how the BOR/CDC looks at it we will lose recruits whether we fire Herman now and use the interims as you suggested or fire him at the end of the season. The only way to stop the hemorrhaging is to hire Urban or as close to Urban as it gets. I sincerely hope there is a plan because most of us can’t take more of this stagnant shit. I know I can’t. Life is hard enough without bringing the low expectations of UT football into it. Fuck.

  8. Fuck. It was eventually going to catch up with UT. Poor player development. Losing winnable games. Barely any players drafted in the NFL. We have no choice but to bring in a proven winner and developer of players like Urban. It should be obvious. Fuck fuck fuck. Some lackluster hire won’t cut it. Kids are way to savvy about recruiting and SM. If they are good enough to go to Bama, Ohio State, Clemson etc...that’s where they will go. Or other schools that will develop them and get them to the NFL. Fuck fuck fuck. My only hope is that Urban says yes. The money, I am told, and have posted, is there times three. It’s there if he accepts.

  9. Since the characters name is Jerry:

Customer: (Cowboys fan):We sat here right in this room and went over this and over this!
    Jerry: Yeah, but that TruCoat--
Customer: I sat right here and said I didn't want no TruCoat!
Jerry: Yeah, but I'm sayin', that TruCoat, you don't get it and you get oxidization problems. It'll cost you a heck of lot more'n five hundred--
Customer: You're sittin' here, you're talkin' in circles! You're talkin' like we didn't go over this already!
    Jerry: Yeah, but this TruCoat--
Customer: We had us a deal here for nine-teen-five. You sat there and darned if you didn't tell me you'd get this car, these options, without the sealant, for nine-teen-five!
Jerry: All right, I'm not sayin' I didn't--
Customer: You called me twenty minutes ago and said you had it! Ready to make delivery, ya says! Come on down and get it! And here ya are and you're wastin' my time and you're wastin' my wife's time and I'm payin' nineteen-five for this vehicle here!

Can’t wait to use the 5th round on a guy from Bloomsburg university that didn’t play his senior year due to injury

    We will take...

Dylan Moses, ILB, Alabama (6-3, 235 pounds)

Moses is trying to pick up where he left off in 2019 after a knee injury wiped out all of last season and took away his chance to be a surefire first-rounder in 2020. Moses has everything you want in an inside linebacker for a 3-4 or 4-3 with his range, instincts, speed and quickness.

    ———————

And convert him to S. Or some other position that makes no sense.

  11. Lol at Jerruh telling the guys on the Fan to shut up. “There’s no leadership void...” Stephen came out yesterday and praised MM saying they were in for the long haul. It’s a good thing I like the NFL enough to follow a few other teams.

The one time Kraft decided to “meddle” with the Pats was telling Belichick to trade Garapolo. And we see the fall out from that move. Nothing was done to secure a QB of the future after that move. Belichick did nothing to try and hold onto Brady. Kraft typically stays out of all the football decisions. We have an owner that can’t stop meddling.

Of course,  after the Garapolo trade the Pats were in two SBs and won one.

It’s a shame Jerruh can’t just hire a badass GM and let the football guys make moves in the draft and FA and coach the fucking team. When owners meddle too much or hire the wrong GM it typically sucks. I hope Tampa Bay makes the NFC championship game. I think they will.
