It is almost as if the problem didnât start with the summer SJW activities boogeyman on to which all the whistlers on this board seem to have to project their frustrations whenever things donât go well for the team this season. Â
nope, that canât be it. Clearly it is the fact that some players engaged in some social activities this summer that clemson and Alabama players did as well and thatâs also why theyâre losing so much.Â
that has to be why Sam threw two awful picks in the end zone in addition to missing wide open guys for most of the first 3.5 quarters and why Herman is too stupid to understand momentum in a game and when going for two is the right call.Â
We are in deep shit if we donât fire his ass. If they donât want to do it mid-season fine (I would but whatever) but I donât see a win on our schedule. Like a donât. Donât we have to win out to have a bowl?Â
Herman has gotta go.Â-

Think Texas needs to field an all white team next year so many fans dont get their feelings hurt.
Wtf? Thatâs your take on this? From the whole thread? Thatâs as idiotic as thinking the Eyes is racist. The team thatâs on the field doesnât acknowledge the fans win or lose. Itâs not about a damn song. Itâs about abandoning a tradition and replacing it with nothing.Â
Yes, there are obviously posters who are racist and post racists comments. Itâs terrible. But attacking fans who are disappointed that a tradition has been replaced (for an asinine) reason with players simply running off the field after the game once they shake hands with their opponents makes no sense.Â
ÂI watch a ton of college football and the players on other teams group up and acknowledge the fans win or lose. We do nothing. And thatâs sad to see. It shows where this program is headed. Imo. And I hope it gets turned around. Soon. Surely the alumni and BMDs can see this. Surely. They will act. Swiftly. Right? Damn this is gonna be a long season. I just donât see how the team rebounds successfully from a loss to a shitty OU team. I donât even see us in a bowl game.Â

This may be the most scathing article I have read so far on Herman
https://www.google.com/amp/s/247sports.com/Article/Tom-Herman-hot-seat-Texas-football-loses-to-Oklahoma-152746952/Amp/Some might deflect blame from Herman after this performance. He isnât the one who fumbled on Texasâ opening possession. He isnât the one who earned an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Oklahomaâs one-yard line. He isnât the PUNTER who drew an unsportsmanlike penalty in his own territory in a tie game. He isnât the field goal unit that surrendered a block in overtime.
ÂHe is, however, the coach who could have twice ended the game on his own terms by going for two against a tired, reeling Oklahoma defense. He is the coach whose team wasted a heroic six-touchdown effort by senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger. Hermanâs team was undisciplined. Hermanâs team played to lose. This loss falls at Hermanâs feet.
This shouldâve been the Longhornsâ year. Texas landed back-to-back-to-back Top 10 recruiting classes entering Hermanâs fourth season. The Longhorns had Sam Ehlinger, a fourth-year, record-setting QB and 15 starters returning around him. There were no excuses but for Texas to take the next step.
ÂInstead: Oklahoma 53, Texas 45
Instead: Gary Patterson won his third of four games against Tom Herman
Instead: Texas needed a botched onside kick recovery to escape Lubbock.
This Longhorn team should be 1-3. You could point to a dozen reasons for the subpar start. But on a day like today, itâs difficult to look anywhere but the coaching staff. Thatâs Hermanâs hand-picked staff, by the way. He hit the reset button this offseason with seven new assistant coaches and two new coordinators. Herman played the get-out-of-jail free card highly-paid coaches seem to automatically receive.
Schemes changed. The preseason messaging changed a little. The on-field result? The same.
Texas ranked 112th in penalties Hermanâs first season, 125th in his second and 109th in his third. This year? The Longhorns sat 67th out of 75 teams. Texas added 11 more to its ledger Saturday, costing the team at least 10 points.

Every. Single. Player. other than Sam protested The Eyes.
Do you know what the word "unity" means?
Did you go to UT?
Did you? Yep. Graduated from there and damn proud of it. Proud I got in. Proud I got my degree.Â
since your reading comprehension skills are weak, the point Iâve made over and over and over and over is fine...I understand and acknowledge the protest over the Eyes. They donât have to acknowledge or sing the damn song. The silly non racist song. They donât have to. I accept this. Accept it! They have a right to their feelings. A right to feel how they feel.I expect them do something to replace it after the game win or lose to carry on some kind of tradition. Thatâs my opinion and I donât think that makes me a divisive asshole.

We donât have a HC who is a leader. I donât like Herman but was proud of him for marching with the players. Proud he had their backs on an issue of grave grave importance to the country and the world. If any of the players had opted out this year bc they wanted to participate in this movement for equality and basic human rightsâ-Iâd be with them 100% in their corner and cheering them on bc itâs that important.Â
Âbut not having team unity is important. I think if we had a competent coach weâd see more unity and pride and team togetherness. Itâs a sad day indeed when any player, be it Sam or anyone is all alone in acknowledging this. Hopefully it will change when this (below) courtesy of @Lobo changes?
Â
Texas is 5-5 against Baylor in the last ten seasons.Â
Texas is 3-7 against Oklahoma State in the last ten seasons.Â
Texas is now 3-9 against Oklahoma in the last ten seasons. Â
Texas is now 2-7 Â against TCU in the last ten seasons.Â
Texas is 4-4 against WVU in the last ten seasons.Â
Texas is 4-6 against K-State in the last ten seasons. Â

I understand the point you are making. Youâve a right to your opinion. Iâve a right to mine. I donât see anything wrong with expecting the players to do something/anything to acknowledge the fans IN THE STANDS (still) after a win or loss as a team (Huddle up and say Hookâem or anything before leaving the field as a team).
Thatâs my opinion. I think itâs asinine to think the Eyes is racist. But they have a right to their feelings. As such, the players dont have to sing it or acknowledge it.
ÂThats fine.
Â
But saying people are asinine because they love the Eyes and are distressed at seeing a tradition go away and be replaced by
ABSOLUTELY NOTHINGÂ
is as dumb as thinking a silly song is racist. So dumb cancels out dumb then. Lol

Have you ever been to a home game? East side doesnât show up until the second quarter and the west side is entire empty in the 4th.Â
this thread needs to die in a fire.Â
Have season tickets. Family at least has had since 1986. Always got their early as a student but Iâm passionate about UT football. Itâs not the thread that needs to die in a fire. We all have a right to express ourselves. We all have a right to be pissed or nonchalant or whatever or be uncomfortable by a silly non-racist song. But seeing the team just run straight to the tunnel with no acknowledgement of the fans is bullshit. Moo.Â

Did you notice that 99% of Longhorn football players went into the locker room during "The Eyes"?
It's over, man. It's over. Let dead things die.
I always felt bad about ever leaving a game early. The Eyes for me was to let the team know that win or lose I had their back. 100% both as players and human beings. I guess now itâs totally acceptable to leave early to beat the traffic once it becomes clear that a loss is in the works?Â

Was this offered to the players and they refused?
Or are you making an excuse to be mad at them by creating an entirely imaginary scenario?
Not sure what you mean. Just disappointed. Iâm mad at Herman and thatâs not ever gonna change. Win or lose I support the team. After the Miners game the Eyes was played while players shook hands after the game. I believe the players were told they didnât have to stay for the Eyes and understood that. But they should as a group do something to acknowledge the fans after a game. Win or lose. It doesnât have to be the Eyes. Which I have said repeatedly. Moo. Itâs not political imo to have them group up as a unit and flash the horns or something. Like Boomer Sooner isnât a dumb song also. But their players sing it. Iowa State players sing Sweet Carolina along with their fans. I would expect something. Almost every team does something. We after 4 games donât do anything. Iâm emotional. I admit it. This week marked 15 years of my dads passing and it hurts every year to not be able to talk football with him. It stinks like a son of a bitch. I acknowledge anyoneâs right to feel however they want to feel. If the song makes them uncomfortable it makes them uncomfortable. I donât understand it but I acknowledge it.Â

They don't love it as much as you do and never will.Â
Thatâs fair. Just acknowledge the fans in some way. Then we can play the Eyes after theyâve left the field.Â

This site will look for anything to bitch about. So yes, we're fucking aggy now. We're living on past glory, we're angry that the players won't uncover, and we try to laugh at the failures of others to mask our own massive deficiencies.Â
Without fans there would be no UT football. Itâs not about a damn song itâs about acknowledging the fans win or lose. I stand in solidarity with the players win or lose. They donât owe me a thing. They are human beings and I support their movement for BLM and equality. But to not stop for one brief moment as a unit and acknowledge the fans is bullshit. It just is. Thatâs not political. The band can play the Eyes after the players have left the field. Thatâs fine. We fans can all sing together since we are the ones suffering through the shit product thatâs been on the field the last decade. Seeing Sam out there all alone Sucks. Leaving him out there alone had ZERO to do with SJ. Itâs about having pride in being a longhorn and in being part of a team. That fights together win or lose. And those guys I see out there donât seem to be together. Thatâs troubling. I support their movement for SJ and equality. 100%. But not acknowledging the fans shows a lack of respect whether they mean to or not. Itâs disrespectful imo. And thatâs not political. Thatâs how I feel. If they arenât proud to be a longhorn and proud of their school fine. Go play somewhere else.Â

To not acknowledge the fans in any way after a W or L is bullshit. They donât have to sing the Eyes (OMG the horror of having to sing a silly song thatâs isnât racist) but acknowledge the fans. Herman needs to stand with them and make them do a quick Hookâem to acknowledge the fans. Otherwise play nothing at all. Band should wait to play until they leave the field. We can all shout after a loss âthatâs alright! Thatâs ok! You werenât gonna beat them anyway!â As they are jogging off the field.Â
Âricky and Earl would never never do this. I care more about their opinions on this matter bc they have EARNED the right to speak on it. Earned it with gusto!Â

I don't blame them. The way this team has played the past three weeks has been as bad as any Strong coached team.
Hire slowly (something we didnât do with Strong or Herman) but you fire quickly. Break up with them. Rip the bandaid off. It wonât happen but it should. Herman has earned himself a quick firing. He may sound humble in his pressers now but he brought this all on himself. I donât hate him. I just want him gone. We are gonna lose a ton of recruits. Not having the team acknowledge the fans in any way after a win or loss is pathetic. They donât have to sing The Eyes (omg the horror) but fucking acknowledge the fans with a quick Hookâem or something. Geez.Â

The team has no heart. They donât bleed orange. The song is not racist. Players arenât intelligent enough to realize that. No need for them to worry about me staying to  sing the Eyes in solidarity with them. I wonât bother to show up. Then they can jog off the field in silence. Sorry but Earl and Ricky were winners. Heisman winners. They would never do that. I stand with the players 100% on SJ and equality. Not on stupidity. The song is dumb sure but not racist. Why even have the band play fight songs if it bothers the players so much? To not even acknowledge the fans after the game win or lose shows me that their priorities are whack and theyâre not as âwokeâ as they think they are.Â
