Kinda forgot this thread. We went up to Lake Superior last month and I got 4 days of riding between Duluth, Bayfield WI, and Hayward WI. 3 days on the incredible Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Trails. Wet summer and a toddler have limited my riding. Heading up to northern MN over Labor Day for one last hurrah before harvest.
Derechos are maybe the most terrifying wind storm. The one in central Iowa in 2020 just laid a path of waste that would make a tornado blush, in terms of total damage dollars.
Yesterday could have definitely been worse.
I really hate Down Under.
i fuckin’ love Eatin’ Big Time, Bitin’ List, Oneida, and Grindstone.
Everything else is fine. Really, this seems to be where I’ve come down on every album since Purgatory. Some great songs, but just not a great album.
KU wouldn’t leave the Big 12 unless it was for the SEC or Big 10.
The ACC is behind the Big 12 in hoops, likely losing their best hoops program in the next 5 years, and they would lose a ton of needle moving games.
I really think the Big 12 and the ACC schools that don’t get SEC/B1G invites will merge, making this a moot point anyhow.
If the Big 10 wanted CU or Utah, they would have added them in ‘23. I see KU fans bring it up sometimes, but again - how many rounds of Big 10 expansion come and gone without it?
Pretty clear they’re waiting for the end of the ACC GOR.
Any fan of a current Big 12 school who wants to get into the SEC or Big 10 at this point is an idiot. From an actual fan perspective. Of course every single athletic administrator would fall all over themselves at the chance.
The Big 12 schools (and most ACC ones) should be focusing their efforts less on getting invited into those leagues and more about coalescing as a product that stays included on the field in major college football. You'll never get the payday, but if you get to stay part of the mix, it's as good as you can do.
The factors required for inclusion in those leagues going forward are fixed and in the past. You can't win your way in, you can't buy your way in. If you didn't start building your brand 50 years ago, or have been grandfathered in, it's over. There's no room for new money in that tree fort.
Tech has struggled in the Big 12 for the better part of the last 15 years. They'd fare worse in the SEC. They'd be fucking miserable. They could do the chant though.
That guy is extremely cringey. He had a funny ISU character in one video that got forwarded to me, but most of it reminded of those terrible niche comedians that are making jokes for some weird insular community. Like an explicitly Christian comedian.
I used to go to a lot of road games. It would be a weekend trip designed around soaking in the game day experience of that school, with little time for exploring the greater locale. I would much rather do this in a place like Baton Rouge than Palo Alto. The amount of fun I had in a trip had a lot to do with the game itself and experience around it.
I travel around the US as much as I can, and my actual vacations rarely overlap with places that have major colleges.
