  1. Outside of beer releases I almost never see people at breweries loaded. We usually stop in, have 1-2, and grab something to go.
  2. I take my kid to the brewery, but she doesn’t yell, scream, or just get turned loose.
  3. That Wichita to OKC corridor looks to get hammered.
  4. I’ve seen 4, and it’s among the most exhilarating experiences of my life. The one I linked up thread was the closest I’ve been (it actually lifted and passed over the car I was in at one point) and it was just straight fucking adrenaline. In 2021 there was one on the ground headed straight for the town I live in. It veered north about a mile from town and missed us, but we were hunkered down in the basement and THAT was terrifying. It’s one thing to be a neutral observer. It’s another thing for your home to be in the path.
  5. Pea wasn’t the hero Lorrie needed. He was the hero she deserved.
  6. I’m pathologically extroverted. Some times it’s a curse, but the blessing is that it kept me from the factors that breed social isolation and all its misgivings
  7. I think it’s something like that and add unequal revenue sharing in the Big 10/SEC. Purdue and Vanderbilt can stay in the fold but they aren’t getting tOSU/Texas $$
  8. Or, hear me out, just keep letting the Big 12 and ACC participate but with less money. Its not that complicated.
  9. There is a level of narcissism inherent in believing you should be president.
  10. Deion is a raging narcissist. Trump is a raging narcissist. Neither of those statements is political in any fashion.
  11. I don't think it would be all that different than a certain ex President who happens to be running again.
  12. This thread is no place for the timid. I have a buddy who reacts this way to them, so any time we'd be at a bar where they were behind the counter, I'd order several and eat them in the most sensual/grotesque fashion possible.
  13. Wait, you guys seriously haven't heard of pickled gizzards? Are they just a Midwestern thing or something? They're one of the world's greatest bar snacks. These are the best
  14. My opinion is that said overreaction was as a result of Catholic repression and using it as an example of how deep and powerful that shit can be.
  15. You’ve inspired me to grab some pickled gizzards tomorrow and make a cold gizzard sammich for supper.
  16. Hang it in the fucking Louvre
  17. Are you team child abuse or team justifiable intervention? The line was frequently blurred in German Catholic families for a very long time. My grandpa got kicked by a horse when he was 8, and it shattered his hip. His parents dropped him off at the children’s hospital in Iowa City, which was a 4 hour drive to the southeast in those days. He was laid up there for 9 months. His parents never visited. About 4 months in, he wrote them a letter. He got a letter back from his grandparents (in German) that instructed him not to be so needy because his parents were busy on the farm and caring for his other 4 siblings. I come from very hard people. My dad’s generation made a lot of progress breaking that cycle. My generation is trying to finish the job.
  18. Catholic sexual repression is very real. Especially about masturbation. My grandma knocked my dad out with a rolling pin when he was in grade school because she thought he was jerking off at the dinner table. He claims he was just scratching. My grandma denies it ever happened but at least one of my uncles remembers.
  19. Best meat I’ve ever grilled was backstrap from a doe shot in Allamakee County, Iowa.
  20. Exactly. Just get out of the way and let them be themselves.
  21. You're definitely doing the right thing there, IMO. One of my best friends is pretty sure his daughter's gay, and I think he's probably right. He and his wife have 0 hang ups with it so I'm sure that she'll be pretty comfortable coming out if that's actually the case. She's also 12. His older brother is gay, and his parents did not handle it well (Baby Boomer Czech/Irish Catholics from northeast Iowa, so no shit, right?), so he's kind of a got a model for what not to do. Good luck and I hope you're daughter is comfortable in being her authentic self.
  22. I agree with that assessment completely. I guess if we're early in the season in '25 (which would be awesome because I could make it to Boulder) I would reduce my confidence.
  23. Ancient history my friend. We haven't played since Obama's first term. And it's nothing against the Buffs, just Prime. Who do you think would have won between ISU and Colorado last year?
