  1. The German Catholic church I grew up in is an oratory now, but the ladies of the community still get together to make a Fall supper. I had to help serve it as a kid, but nowadays we get it delivered out to the field. Smoked pork loin, turkey, sauerkraut, dressing, corn, mashed potatoes. Love it.
  2. It’s pretty explicable. A bunch of injured starters + the most uninspired fuck off run defense I’ve ever seen. Our radio guy at one point goes sarcastically “what, are we playing the ‘95 Nebraska team or something?”
  3. I love Goodfellas but I don’t find the rise and fall story arc quite as compelling as the Godfather’s theme of being unable to outrun who you are.
  4. I think Goodfellas and The Departed are on the same tier. Godfather is its own tier
  5. This is what I’ve always read too. Which exemplifies why you need both David & Goliath. Nothing but Goliath kills first round interest, just like David being too successful kills the later rounds
  6. I agree completely, it just seems like there’s a palpable desire to kill all of this.
  7. I’ve just seen so many message board posts and tweets from blue blood fanbases about leeches, and not wanting to play schools with less historical success that I figured this is what people want. I do think if PE gets involved you’ll see something like this. They can get more money from a league that’s nothing but helmet matches every week. That second tier would be a money maker too.
  8. Wouldn't it be better than where this is heading?
  9. Then you'd arrange the rest of the current P4ish into 8 team divisions like this Pacific: Washington, Wazzu, Ore St, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, AZ, ASU Southwest: Utah, BYU, CU, TTU, Baylor, TCU, SMU, Houston Great Plains: Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa, Iowa State, Mizzou, OK State Midwest: Illinois, NW, Indiana, Purdue, Cincy, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Mich State Northeast: Pitt, WVU, BC, CUse, Rutgers, Maryland, UVA, VA Tech Southern Coast: Clemson, Miami, NCSU, GA Tech, Duke, Wake, UNC, UCF Southeast: Ole Miss, Miss St, Vandy, South Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, USF You play your division, division winners go to the playoffs, plus one at large, and your non-con is a rotating series of cross division games.
  10. I've said it a million times, but I'd love to see the Top 15ish brands breakaway and just play each other. No one has to listen to blue bloods bitch about playing non-blue bloods. Schools that don't create the massive revenue aren't being artificially propped up by those who do. You end up with two separate tiers that will each be pretty financially viable as schools 16-70 or so still have lots of interest, and now they'll actually have a chance to win a title. You'd have a Prestige Worldwide group that looks something like this. Those teams play their "division" and cross division games, and then have a top half playoff at the end of the year. West: USC, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Aggy, Bama, Auburn East: Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State Everyone else organizes geographically and plays for their own title on a similar format.
  11. None of this should matter, and you are a fucking weirdo with how hung up you are on this shit. Oregon is better at winning football games than most schools. They've had a ton of entertaining players over the years. The gate keeping of college football to only the biggest brands and a handful of historic free riders is the dumbest shit ever. 2/3rds of the Big 10 are free riding. 40% of the SEC is. Caring about this is dumb as fuck.
  12. The idea that a team like Oregon should maybe not be part of high end college football because they don't get enough ratings is the dumbest fucking shit of all time. It's everything that's wrong with this sport. Your obsession with TV ratings is fucking weird, but I guess there must be more people like you than I realize.
  13. It's the wrong realignment thread.
  14. My favorite little detail of this movie is how Leo communicates through T9 word predictor without looking. It sets it to an incredibly short window of time, and anyone who used it can completely understand how plausible that is. It'll be wild trying to explain that scene to my daughter when I have her watch it someday.
  15. Pine trees might be in every state except Hawaii though. Just seems way too universal to delineate anything.
  16. If Pedo tires of Franklin, I could see Campbell to State College. IMO he's been holding out for Ohio State or Notre Dame (he's from Ohio and his whole family is still there; he's also Catholic) but think he'd take Michigan or Penn State. All the jobs he's turned down previously were in the south or on the west coast.
  17. He's getting fired for sure. I had thought that he and Satterfield would both get fired, and Fickell would go back to Cincy, but now it looks like Satterfield is saving his job.
  18. Hasn't Fisch openly craved the Florida job?
  19. Cignetti has fallen for the Ferentz trap
  20. Clear PI, but my god did it seem like a bail out
  21. It would be so much easier to ignore Tim Brando if his voice didn’t crack like a nervous 12 year old
  22. I can't think of a single 90's rebrand that has stood the test of time. Even if they're still in use (like these) most fans clamor for the old ones. The NBA and NHL had some truly hideous combos in that time frame as well.
  23. I wonder if you can bet on whether UNC or TCU finishes the season with more ACC wins?
  24. I low key love Tropicana. It's kind of a pastiche, but he is so earnest and unflinching that he pulls it off.
