  1. We have a non-beveled I-State. It's classy. I'll always be partial to our two 80's logos.
  2. I think we basically agree here. I'm not saying ISU should actually claim to be the Big 12 champions for 2020 (thought that post was clearly tongue in cheek). I'm saying it's ridiculous that the league didn't recognize round robin winners and CCG winners separately, like it does in basketball. From 2011-2016 there was no CCG because you didn't need one. Round robin determines a champion. The league just kept doing stupid shit to try and appease the playoff committee. Like a cat chasing a laser pointer. Because the committee just made shit up on the fly, and didn't want to recognize any non-blue blood in the 10 team Big 12, it was an utter fool's errand. Lack of vision indeed. FWIW, Big 10 quit playing a round robin when they added Pedo State, which lead to a lot of co-championships for whoever was decent and dodged Ohio State.
  3. Baylor was the champ in 2014. The Big 12 idiotically waffled because TCU looked like the better team. It was arbitrary bullshit. The entire conference played each other. It was impossible not to have a clear winner. That’s why round robin exists. There was nothing “participation trophy” about coming out of that clearly on top and you know it. From 2011-2016, that was the champ and it made sense. Then they decided to play a random rematch game.
  4. I’m just saying there should have been a regular season champ and CCG champ. Just like basketball has a regular season champ and a conference tournament champ. The Big 12 CCG in the 10 team era was no different than a conference tournament in hoops. Not even a little. There was no point to it other than TV money and a 13th data point for the playoff committee.
  5. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
  6. I’ve always dug the I-State but a lot of our fans don’t.
  7. You'd know better than me, it just seems that in the last couple years he's gone from a fiery wildcard to a bitter old man.
  8. Gundy's been there for 20 years. Eventually the game passes everyone by. He's probably at that point. He hates the modern recruiting landscape and the state of the game today, and I'm not sure how that doesn't rub off on his team some.
  9. I guess if other schools can make up natties, there's no reason we can't claim a conference title we actually won.
  10. Well, we both have rivalry games to wade through and our line indicates KSU would be favored on a neutral field. Drop me a line next fall if you're looking for recs in Ames on gameday. I doubt I'll be there (unless it's really early or really late in the season), but I'll give you a solid itinerary. I'd tell you right now to stay in Ames instead of a Des Moines suburb, and reserve a room the day the schedule comes out. I'd recommend Days Inn on Duff. It's not the nicest place, but it's good enough and you can walk to the Tip Top Lounge, Jack Trice, and the downtown bars. You'd have to Uber to Campustown, but that's it.
  11. I’m still pissed that the Big 12 didn’t recognize regular season champs from 2017-2022. We won the 2020 round robin by a full game and there’s 0 acknowledgment of that. Same thing for TCU in ‘22. Would that be our first ever match up?
  12. These were the best uniforms I’ve ever seen ISU wear
  13. I’m legitimately shocked Liberty is celebrating the American side of WWII.
  14. I mean, that would be pretty much the entirety of CFB fandom/media. I was convinced he was gonna eat shit and flame out this year. Whoops.
  15. The Big 10 is laughing hysterically. The Big 12's biggest problem is media treatment, and at this point there isn't anything that's a close second. I'm not really sure how to fix it, but these games are way more entertaining than a lot of Big 10 games. It ain't the product. People who watch because they want to see the best aren't that into college football anyways. They're NFL honks.
  16. This is exactly where I'm at vis a vis ISU and the Big 10 or SEC. I know it's never happening, and I'm just fine with that because being Purdue (or even Iowa) is a lot less fun than our season has been. Yeah, the checks are great for the department and admins, but they don't do the fans a god damn thing. In the current Big 12 we have 4 other Big 8 programs that we've been playing my whole life (including our secondary rival) on the schedule, as well as the 2 Texas schools that have been there nearly as long as I can remember, TCU and WVU who at this point feel like familiar foes, and the 4 new programs out west that very much "fit" with the rest of us. UH, UCF, and Cincy will always feel a little odd, but Cincy and UCF both have cool home field scenes and make life interesting. At this point, I actually prefer the current set up in a lot of ways as long as we know we're getting a shot in the playoffs.
  17. That's apples to oranges. They were still one of the Top 3 historic programs in the Big 12. In a division-less SEC it's just so crowded, and they don't have the built-in advantages of in-state talent and obscene wealth that you guys do. OU's going to struggle to get better than 9 wins in the SEC. They're Nebraska now. But they've got checks and chants so who cares about actually winning football games, right?
  18. Who's only loss is at home to a Big 12 team.
  19. At this point, there's probably 5 tiers of FBS conferences, but you have a ton of overlap at the various ends of the spectrum. For example, the Big 10 and SEC are a tier ahead of the Big 12 and ACC, but over half of the Big 10 could be swapped for any ACC or Big 12 schools and there would be no difference in the competitiveness or value of the conference. It's a smaller percentage of the SEC, but there are plenty of programs there you could say the same for. Same thing happens at the bottom of the Big 12/ACC and the top of the MWC/AAC tier. If you swapped Tulane and Boise for Houston and Wake it wouldn't make any difference in the value of any of those leagues. SEC/Big 10 (I think SEC is clearly a better football and basketball product, but Big 10 is a financial giant) Big 12/ACC (Big 12 is better product in football and basketball, ACC has the biggest brands of this group - but also the weakest) AAC/New Pac (new Pac will probably get the edge here, but AAC has some frisky programs) Sun Belt/MWC (Sun Belt is starting to move into it's own tier - MWC could be sliding into the tier below) MAC/CUSA (Shouldn't be part of FBS) Oh shit. That's definitely a Mandela Effect thing. I was thinking they won the East in their first SEC season.
  20. That's fair, and watching Oklahoma turn into SEC Nebraska has been both insanely predictable and wildly entertaining. I'm a little surprised that they didn't have their Missouri Year, but I have absolutely no problem with it.
  21. Welfare just likes to troll the Big 12. It's not a serious take.
