  1. I realized I didn't have any pics because I put them all on snapchat, but I recently tried smoking a couple of chuck roasts I had leftover from a 1/4 cow I split with my brother, on my Pit Boss. Basically, I treated them like brisket until the wrap. Then I set them in a roasting pan with some beef broth and wrapped the entire pan. In one pan, we tossed in a jar of pepperoncinis and their juice along with dry Italian dressing herbs. I accidentally punctured the traditional pan when I was adjusting the probe, so I ended up leaving it wrapped in foil. Both roasts turned out really well, and shredded up excellently. It had a lot of brisket's flavor profile, but wasn't identical. It was about a 7 hour smoke, and I really thought given how much cheaper chuck roasts are and how high quality of a product it ended up being, that it was a great brisket substitute when you don't feel like investing the time and money but still want a product that's 90% as good.
  2. It will, and that will be the final blow to spring pro football
  3. I was like 6 when that came out and it's impossible for me to view it through any other lens than the first grader who was having their fucking mind blown.
  4. From the playoff. ND's making so much god damn money from every other aspect of their existence that I doubt they'll even notice.
  5. You say it like they give even half a fuck.
  6. Yeah it is. I live about 60 miles west and a little north of there, and really enjoy being down there for summer weekends. Lots of fun bars, biking and hiking trails, and just cruising the Mississippi under the bluffs is always a good time. This little corner of the world is one of America's best kept secrets.
  7. I have a small drone I use on the farm to scout problem areas and take pictures of the farms for landowners. That kind of wind would have bitch slapped it straight to the ground. The strom chasing drones must be closer to the one we have on our fire department which is much larger and heavier, but I've never piloted that in mega-winds either.
  8. I've been spoiled by other now ancient bands I like making surprisingly good late career records. The last Pearl Jam and Foo Fighter albums come to mind. The Crowes have just lost too much of what made them unique at this point. I'd be more into a Chris and Rich acoustic album than what this was.
  9. Sounds like Greenfield, IA just got wiped off the map. F4-5 potential based on some early indicators.
  10. I tried it a couple times after that. Nothin'. I just don't have a need for any new Chris Robinson music at this point in my life (as much as I love pretty much everything the Black Crowes did prior). It just felt stiff, brittle, and kinda put on for lack of a better term.
  11. Yes. Memorial Day week is a notorious window for F5s throughout tornado alley. Moore, Joplin, and Parkersburg were all within a 5 day window on the annual calendar. Funny story about Parkersburg. My in-laws have a boat slip on the Mississippi in Prairie Du Chien, WI and their slip neighbors are a couple from Parkersburg. The first time we met them I asked "did you guys come out of the tornado ok?" and the wife goes "FUCK NO" and I respond, "sorry to hear that. Can't imagine what it's like to lose your house". She goes "no, we got spared. I wanted a new fuckin' house like the rest of town!".
  12. It's going to devastate them. My wife and I were talking about this yesterday. She was a heptathlete at Northern Iowa and we both think that there's not even going to be a scholarship track program in the next 5 years. Shit, I wouldn't be surprised to see schools like us and OK State cut wrestling.
  13. This sport is like what would happen if you let the mafia run sports.
  14. The entire sports media complex in this state basically figured she'd take the WNBA by storm. I understand that's not a media circle you'd pay any attention to, but these people definitely understand sports but had become so infatuated with CC that they just can't bring any modicum of objectivity or reality to the discussion around her game.
  15. Local schools are letting out early due to the weather threat. Probably more of a function of not having to use many snow days in our near non-existent winter, but still catches your attention.
  16. It was all the circus 3s she hit in college. Topped with crazy passes. She's not any better or more dominant than the players you named, but she was constantly making these highlight reel plays on a nightly basis. Combine that with how 1 and dones and the transfer portal destroyed star power in the men's game, and you had this whole rise of increased popularity in women's basketball because these players would face off against each other over multiple seasons, and the whole thing just kinda went wild.
  17. That's more rain than we had all of last year in one shot.
  18. I agree. This is the biggest increase in competition she's ever seen. She'll adjust in time, and be fine. But people were expecting her to be as unstoppable as she was in college and that wasn't realistic. By the same token, her haters are clearly jumping the gun.
  19. Zach Bryan is country-ish. He has some really good songs, IMO.
  20. The flip side of this, being surrounded by her legion of sycophants, is how every media member in the state of Iowa is calling for the Fever to fire their coach because she clearly doesn't know how to properly employ God in the service of winning games. Or how her teammates just aren't good enough to handle playing with Caitlin. Everyone needs to get out of God's way and let her huck junk all night and all will be right. Both sides of the Clark argument need to realize that the WNBA, like any other pro sports league at the highest level of said sport, is full of the absolute best players in that sport. Maybe more so because there are so few teams. She's going to be fine, but there's going to be an adjustment period. She was never gonna run through the pros like she did college, but that doesn't mean she's anywhere close to being a bust.
  21. A buddy of mine went recently because his teenage son wanted endless shrimp for his birthday. Personally, I haven’t been since the last Bush Administration. In college we’d go sometimes to order the cheapest thing on the menu and fill up on the biscuits.
  22. It will kill it as we know it for sure. I'm not convinced people who never went to college, but are still huge college sports fans, would care. But you would disenfranchise the actual alums of these schools, and that would irrevocably alter what this product look likes. So I think we basically agree. I think there would still be people playing football and people watching, but far fewer of them, and not enough to matter the way it matters now. The budgets, the atmosphere, etc all would be dogshit compared to today.
