Non-Texas weather. The all-encompassing thread
This has been northeast Iowa, minus the "damp" part. It's going to be 40 on Friday, and -4 (for the high) a week from today. Fun, fun stuff. And of course, there isn't any fucking snow so all this is doing is driving the frost line deeper and deeper so all the roads are going to be a god damn disaster come March.

Sobriety hasn’t hit the Midwest, and I’m not holding my breath that it will.

Ten Wasp Brewing, Sumner, Iowa. A fucking gem in the middle of nowhere.

Who should we blame for Bro Country?
I think this pile of shit is the laziest songwriting I've ever seen. Like, if you want to cover a song, just cover it. Even if you are crediting the original writers and they're getting their cut, why does this thing need to exist?

I love pilsners. The hazy IPA recipes are pretty similar. The difference is all the varieties of hops. There are also quite a few different grain bills for other styles of IPAs. West Coast IPAs don’t really taste like hazy New England ones.

I'm not sure what you mean by "up north" but studded tires and chains are rarely used around here. Snow tires are common, but that's just a different tread profile.- Winter Weather 2025 - Arctic Blasts or Sweaty Ass?
The worst part of driving in snow is not being able to see the lanes or the edges of the road. Unless it's really wet and slushy, it doesn't toss the vehicle around much. You guys are lucky that the ditches never fill up enough to make it impossible to discern where the shoulder drops off.- 2025 Orange Bowl - Notre Dame vs. Penn State

100% where I'm at. 6-7 years ago I was trading TG for Russian River with @AnotherUTFan and going to beer releases or going out of my way to swing into beer bars, liquor stores, etc to find some kind of whale or gem. I pretty quickly and suddenly just lost interest in all of that shit. Plus I found a lot of the people who were super into that stuff to be relatively off putting. At least the ones that would descend on Decorah for big events. I get to my local breweries a couple times a month (if I'm lucky), drink the local beer when I'm traveling, but that's the extent of the effort I'm willing to go to.- Beer 2025: Merry Christmas Everyone, Including the Haters and Losers
Oktoberfests are being released in July every year now.- Beer 2025: Merry Christmas Everyone, Including the Haters and Losers
From my vantage point, the downsizing of craft beer has almost exclusively eliminated breweries I wasn't interested in anyhow.- College Hoops 2024-25
I agree with that, but United Supermarkets is a fantastic home environment and a Saturday afternoon tip leaves some time for the crowd to do some day-drinkin'. Our true road games have been at Iowa, where 40% of the crowd was in cardinal and gold, and CU over their winter break. This will be on a whole different level.- College Hoops 2024-25
Saturday's going to be a fucking dog fight. The little bit of Tech I've seen this year suggests you guys can get on one of those rolls where nothing is missing and it doesn't matter how good the half court defense is.- New Orleans Food and Drink Thread
I figured that part of the itinerary went without saying.- New Orleans Food and Drink Thread
I'm an early riser (even when boozing) but NOLA is one of those cases where I'm ok with a line at a restaurant. We'd probably just grab to-gos from the liquor store next to our hotel and get the HOTD rolling on the commute. My days will start with getting up early (6AMish) and either running around the Garden District or hitting the eliptical/weights in the hotel workout room to sweat the hangover out. An old trick I learned growing up on a farm. Sweat profusely, coffee, shower, eye opener. Feel like a new man.- Albums with no bad songs
There's mandolins on Blind Melon, for fuck's sake.- Albums with no bad songs
