  1. God, all that shit is so late 90's-early 00's.
  2. I hate those things. We were always rated "worst uniforms in college football" in those days. The whirly bird was busy as hell, and the blue accents were dog shit.
  3. Some mild tweaks to ours (shoulder stripes, and using white on the jerseys) that I think improve them. Previous version:
  4. Have you had venison from a deer that lived in corn country?
  5. They're 16 seasons deep. Of course there's some crap episodes. When it's on, it's at a level of funny that even Larry David can't pull off. The 5th season of Sunny is the funniest season of any television show, ever, IMO. It was just straight heaters.
  6. My Top 5 sitcoms: Sunny Parks Curb Seinfeld Arrested Development If Trailer Park Boys is a sitcom, it probably bumps AD. Or I'd just merge Curb and Seinfeld cause it's all Larry David.

    Pearl Jam

Eddie used to drink 2 whole bottles of wine at every show. In the not that distant past. And he smoked cigarettes for years (maybe still does?). Combine that with just being a touring musician and all the complications that would put on someone, and I think he looks pretty good for 60. Other than McCready, who got clean pretty damn fast, they all stayed away from hard drugs, which is the other secret to their longevity.
  8. This is mind blowing to me. They CAN be cool, but you have to spend a lot on drainage or build on a hillside to have a walk out.
  9. Interesting read. Around here basements aren’t about saving space - they’re for hiding from storms and people just kinda figured if they had this space they’d use it. If I ever build a house from scratch, I’ll just have a fortified internal room with concrete walls. Basements are mostly a headache in my experience.
  10. How come no one south of I-40 has basements? Soil types? I'll admit that they're mostly a hassle up here and are prone to flooding and all kinds of issues, but I definitely get some peace of mind knowing that there's a convenient place to hide from naders.
  11. I’m not in the watch. Yet.
  12. Round 2 for basically the exact same area that got hit Friday
  13. They’re all the same, right?
  14. To be clear, I wasn't advocating for the show to end there. There were a lot of great moments after that. I'm just saying it felt like a finale. The final scene, with American Girl playing in the background, and everything working out for everyone felt final. My criticism of the later years (and it's a minor one) is that (in Ron Swanson's words) everyone got a little too chummy and they leaned into the insularity of the Pawnee universe a little too much. I still felt the show scratched more or less the same itch from Season 2 through the end.

    Pearl Jam

It's probably in my top 3. Definitely top 4. I'd put Vitalogy and Vs. ahead of it, solidly, but after that there's a strong argument in it's favor. I always enjoyed them rolling Betterman into Save It For Later by the English Beat.
  16. That was the joke.
  17. Within an hour of me posting in this thread, there were “male empowerment” ads popping up in my Facebook feed.
  18. I listened to him once on Rogan like 7-8 years ago (before that show went to hell) and thought “hey, this guy seems reasonable”. And then his next appearance got weirder and the one after that weirder, and by that time I was coming to the conclusion that the entire Rogan universe was nothing but endless small dick energy with a particular political slant. I quit paying attention to Peterson before he got into that submissive tradwife shit, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.
  19. Are we sure this isn’t already a thing? Because this seems like a thing.
  20. Harvest Fest totally felt like a finale
  21. Yup. I started P&R between the 3rd and 4th season. I 1-3 over a few seasons and couldn't believe the jump the show made, essentially instantly, in the break between season 1 and season 2. And it's 100% because they transitioned Leslie away from being an awkward buffoon to essentially the complete opposite of that. The development of the ancillary characters and the Pawnee universe in P&R takes it to the next level. Plus, as someone who has worked directly in small town government in the Midwest, so much of those side plots, town hall meetings, and just angry uniformed citizen shit hit me hard. It's absolutely spot on. And that's not even getting into the acting performances. From season 3 on, basically everyone in that show fucking slays their characters.
  22. I halfway agree. BBT is one of the worst shows to ever reach that level of popularity. HIMYM was good for the first 4 seasons or so, and then became a parody of itself for the remainder of the series. There were moments of actual humor. Big Bang Theory without a laugh track should be reserved for Gitmo.
  23. How old are you? Any of my friends born before 1988 or so that have become single in the last 6-7 years have said it's so much easier to get laid now than when we were younger. The guys who grew up with in person socializing but now have access to dating apps seem to be the most equipped to thrive in the current ecosystem.
  24. I'd be dead in a gutter somewhere if Tinder or similar apps had existed when I was in college ('03-'07), and all I cared about at that age was getting pussy. I figured out very quickly that simply paying attention to a woman's needs/interests and making sure they got theirs first was the gateway to getting what I was after. Basic respect goes a long ways in life. Social media and high speed internet (allowing fast downloads of porn videos) were just coming around in these days, and while they hadn't taken root yet, guys my age (the eldest millenials) were absolutely influenced by the American Pie/Varsity Blues back slapping bros that had a view point about sex that the woman's needs were irrelevant as long as you got yours (think Tweeder basically bragging about committing underrage rape). In HS those guys got more than I did. By the time college rolled around, it was like I had a fucking cheat codes. It's easy to see how social media, smartphones, and the isolation inherent within those devices has created the situation we're seeing today. Any young man with any kind of in-person social skills, and the resolve to not get sucked into that Alpha Male bullshit has to be just swimming in it at this point. I think it's less a fear of DWI (although that IS real) and more of a fear of having to talk to people in real life.

    Pearl Jam

I'm aware how popular Pearl Jam was (I mean, I was 8 at the time and somewhat paying attention to that stuff), but Kurt Cobain constantly slagged them, and Nirvana was definitely considered edgier/cooler/whatever. Nirvana definitely had more cache with the cooler than thou crowd than Pearl Jam did. Punk kids would go for Nirvana, but often wouldn't go for Pearl Jam. I'm very aware that the punk crowd and grunge crowd were not the same, but they definitely overlapped a lot in Nirvana fanhood.
