  1. I've legit never understood why people from Texas think that women from northern states are fat toads. I've been to a grocery store in Texas and seen the scooter women. I mean, there's plenty of hot women too, but I've never been one for assigning attractiveness to geography (with the exception of course of Lincoln, NE). You won't get much shit from the ISU crowd at the tournament, or KSU either. Yes, the schools hate Texas now, yes you will see a ton of horns down. That's probably where it ends. I just meant you might not enjoy being the clear outsider. ISU's love of the Big 12 tournament has kind of become this thing that people either view with a sense of mild awe, or nose-in-the-air derision, but having been a part of it, it's pretty simple to me. It's an excuse to take a few days at the end of winter and go somewhere that's close enough to be really accessible (it's barely over 2 hours from Des Moines to KC), but just far enough to feel like you're getting away all in order to watch your team and party your ass off with other like minded hoops fans. KU fans love to shit on it, but it's just kind of a rivalry sort of thing. If the tournament were in Des Moines, you'd see droves of KU fans up there taking over bars.
  2. My wife got a Peloton a few years back and I finally started using it this winter. I avoid indoor exercise as much as possible, but in the Upper Midwest/Plains it becomes inevitable at some point. It doesn't suck.
  3. I went since it's been at T Mobile, and had an absolute blast. It didn't hurt that ISU beat KU that year to win the thing. We stayed near the Plaza and would party in the Westport area until 2 hours before tip. Then we'd Uber up to the Power & Light District for the final pre-game push and usually hang out for a few after the game before heading back to Westport to finish the night. That plan might not be as great for a UT fan, because a lot of the bars in that neighborhood basically get taken over by various northern fanbases. IE Kelly's Westport Inn is the ISU bar during the Big 12 tournament. Lots of KU and KSU bars in that neighborhood too. I do think people enjoy seeing the farther away fanbases show up though. Generally, I find Westport a more fun area to hang out than P&L. The P&L set up is really cool, but the bars/restaurants themselves are far more generic. It's really fun getting all the fanbases mingling in one spot there.
  4. This year’s Tech team has a similar to vibe to our first season under Otz. Major rebound from a complete disaster under a first year coach.
  5. Yes. Exactly. I just did season 5 of Fargo, and binged a few of the earlier seasons in between the new episodes. This is just nowhere near as good as that, and that recent comparison is really hurting it for me.
  6. I'm struggling with it. We've watched the last few Monday nights and I just went to bed 10 minutes before it got over last night and told my wife to tell me what happens. They hit such a home run with Season 1 and have just never followed up.
  7. I don't know that they're giving up FCS games. Just that everyone is scheduling P4 non-cons. Again, I'd love to ditch FCS games, but I know like with us and Northern Iowa for example, there's a lot of political pressure on the big schools to keep UNI on the schedule because of the payday it brings them, and also the effect on the local economy. When ISU plays Southeast Missouri State, we'll fill Jack Trice, but they aren't bringing ANY fans. When we play UNI, there's an extra 15K people just coming to Ames to party for the weekend with 0 intent of going to the game. That's a lot of cash into the local economy. So for reasons that have fuck all to do with sports, I'd be surprised to see them die.
  8. You have no idea how badly I'd love to never play Northern Iowa (or any FCS school frankly) ever again. And I'm pretty sure most of the Big 12 schools are doing this going forward. It's not Art Briles and Bill Snyder scheduling any more.
  9. Tech's the only Big 12 school not playing 10 power conference games next year, and that's just because Wazzu got relegated.
  10. And ranch. When in the Midwest anyhow.
  11. Everything about this looks fantastic (save for the mater chunks), but got damn that Bloody. That looks exceptional.
  12. Only if there's a thread about Big 12 football. True, but there are also way more people in general.
  13. A buddy was trying to convince me of the amazingness of Chat GPT on Saturday and literally everything he found through it, I was able to get as quickly on Google.
  14. It's quite a bit more askew of the modern zeitgeist than Avril Lavigne was, IMO. Her music was an even more radio friendly version of the pop punk that was absolutely dominating youth culture at that time, which I can speak to in an educated sense as I was a pop punk inhaling teen at that time. Olivia Rodrigo seems to be digging back into music that hasn't been particularly fashionable as of late.
  15. If you need recs for Cedar Falls/Waterloo, let me know. Do not miss Singlespeed Brewing.
  16. I’m so glad you have to come to Hilton and we don’t go to Lubbock
  17. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on, Kansas.
  18. If we lose, we lost at the stripe. We’re shooting 3s better than FTs
  19. ISU/KU in Hilton gets me amped in a way few other things in sports can.
