Is it possible to get lost in Iowa?
It seems impossible, but people do it.

Google Earth has been like crack for me for many many years.
And I never get lost! It's amazing. Anytime I travel with friends, they're shocked with how much I know about a place I've never been.

I'm using lows, you're using highs. I think that explains our disagreement. I use highs when bitching about heat, lows when bitching about cold.
Makes sense.
Yeah, I use highs because that occurs in the hours when one would generally be outside.
If you use the high to low swing, Minneapolis has seen a 150 degree swing in recorded temp. That's nuts.

I like reading maps for fun.
Laugh all you want, but I almost never get lost.

We have some friends in common from Craft beer people.
If you stopped at the beer tent on Thursday morning this year, my MIL probably served you.

By your definition, Minneapolis gets 3 months of cold as fuck and another 1-2 of cold. Source- I live in this ice encrusted place.

Go to the weather section. There are 3 months (December-February) where the average daily high is below 40 degrees. By my definition of "cold", I was right on the money. Your definition likely differs.

Seems like everywhere, brother.
Damn.
I rode 4 days this year, and happen to live in Cresco (it was nice to sleep in my own bed). I'd heard that the owner of one the bars in town refused to turn the AC on for RAGBRAI and people bailed and went to the other bars. I was drinking in my yard, as we hosted a large group, so I missed it.
I honestly didn't go inside of that many bars on RAGBRAI this year. Logged a shit ton of time at the Iowa Craft beer tent, and usually hit the outside beer gardens.

You also probably think 50 degrees is hot.

Nope. You guys seem to not realize that not only do we get the joy of subzero days in the winter, we get 100 degree days in the summer too. We just don't get them for weeks on end, or north of 105.
My scale is this:
90+ = hot
80-90 = warm
65-80 = perfect
50-65 = mild
32-50 = chilly
10-32 = cold
Anything below 10 = cold as fuck

Minnesota high school football sucks so it's not like they can just lock down the state and have the talent they need. That means they have to convince some southerners to come up there and that's a tough sell.
They could mine the Rust Belt. Plenty of football talent there that's used to cold weather.
That's the biggest reason Campbell has been able to be competent at ISU. Rather than try and convince kids from Texas to come north, he's convinced kids from Ohio and Michigan to come west. Hell, in some regards Iowa and Minnesota (at least Minneapolis) have better weather than those places, because we don't get lake effect snow and all the gloom/cloudiness.
Minneapolis, despite 3 months of cold, is a really nice city with a lot to offer. Minnesota could be a lot better than they are despite their location and lack of local talent.

She'll take this seriously.

Al_4_ISU this for you. I visit Iowa each summer for family and RAGBRAI and its irksome when the bar staff/owner runs air conditioning @minimal level because the only purpose of ac is 'to take the humidity out of the air"
This didn’t happen at the Southside in Cresco by chance did it?

They better fucking record this.

If Minnesota could get their fanbase to care, I think they could take off quicker. Get some more donor money flowing in, and build some investment in the program. Minnesotans just don't give a shit about the Gophers. It's always puzzled me. If they could regularly draw crowds, I think it would help the recruiting as it's a beautiful campus with a beautiful stadium located (nearly) downtown in a big city.
-
I'd love to schedule a home and home with them while Fleck is there.
-Easy road trip. Would be hilarious/awesome to watch TCF Bank Stadium fill with 20,000 drunk Cyclone fans and Dinkytown get completely overrun.
-Battle of former MAC rising stars. I thought Fleck would make a splash quicker than Campbell (I expected Campbell to be a slower build), and I'm quite glad to be wrong.
-Pay those fuckers back for killing Jack Trice (2009 wasn't revenge enough).

At Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth about 10 years ago, and I notice that this chick who seems to be hitting on my buddy has a giant ring on.
I make a comment to him, and point to the ring. It's so loud that I have to talk directly into his ear, but the bitch can tell what I'm getting at. Over the roar of the music she screams while waving her hand and pointing at the ring "NOT MARRIED. AGGY."
That's how I learned that Aggy wears class rings. For college.

It's from tailgating before the 2007 UT/ISU came. My cousin (on the left) had come down from Winnipeg the day before. We had a classic drunk Ames night (I was between undergrad and law school at the time, mowing lawns for living), which culminated in him tackling a garbage fan and scuffing his face (somewhat visible in picture) before he pissed on my floor and passed out in said piss puddle.
It was a rainy, wet crap day where UT fucking pummeled us, but it was a lot of fun. I have my arm around him chugging a beer at approximately 9:30 in the morning. I was 22 and he was 24 at the time.
It's simply a relic of of a great time I once had that's tangentially related to UT football.
UT/ISU game, and tackling a garbage can.
