  1. And here I was feeling over the hill having a kid at 38.
  2. I think he used it more in their "compete with the Beatles" days, but by the time of the classic run, he was mostly in Open G.
  3. The fact that the World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band wrote some of the best country songs ever is such a fucking testament
  4. Pulpit Rock Little Italy Italian Pils, IMO
  5. Is it just me, or is Jupiter’s Faerie heavily tagging A Day In The Life? NTTAWWT
  6. Scooter Blues is maybe a little too literal in recapping his last few years, but it’s a whole vibe (as the kids say). I would agree others are growing on me more. One For The Road is fantastic.
  7. I loved that shit for like a year (basically '98-'99). When I heard (of all things) Blink 182 "What's My Age Again" I immediately swerved towards punk and that took me completely away from the ragey nu metal shit for good. Within a couple of years I'd picked up everything from the Velvet Underground to Phish.
  8. I was 13 when Devil Without A Cause came out ('99 IIRC) and I thought it was the greatest fucking thing I'd ever heard. Of course, I was shitfaced (for the first time) in a pasture listening to it around a bonfire. Being a dumb kid has consequences

If 49 Winchester saved their best songs for the full album release and didn't run them as lead singles, this thing is gonna elbow out Sturgill for album of the year on my end. These lead singles have been ridiculously good.
  10. Hey, some of us were early teenagers in that era.

Yup. I think this is about spot on. You could make a legitimately great album by grabbing his best songs, but after that it gets thin.

He really came off like a douche at first, and I found his early stuff to sound weirdly like Nickleback with a Southern accent. I did not get the hype AT ALL. There have been some really good songs from him in the last 5 years. The aforementioned "Ragweed" is the one that made me give him a second chance/another look. I'm not a huge fan, but he's improved as a songwriter and there are some great hooks scattered throughout. He's leaned more into an obvious 90's pop punk influence as well. If my wife left me tomorrow, I'd probably put going to one of his shows at the top of my social "to do" list for reasons that have fuck all to do with music, but at this point I think I'd enjoy enough of the songs.
  13. I hate to say this as an ISU fan, but go to Iowa. It's a fun game day atmosphere and I don't think they're total assholes to non rival fanbases. Might be decent flights into Cedar Rapids or the Quad Cities from Seattle. Chicago's like 4 hours away too.
  14. I haven't spent much time with it yet. Gave it one spin the day it came out, and felt like it was all in a similar vein, and I wasn't in the mood for that at the moment. I really like Pink Skies though. I'm sure I'll dig in at some point.
  15. So that means they're in until 2036?
  16. She’s almost beyond the scope of the argument IMO. She’s an icon and a lot of that is due to things beyond and outside music.
  17. Cash is one of those artists that is both great AND overrated. He’s the stock favorite country artist of people who don’t like country, but he’s also the man. My attempt at a country Mt Rushmore (as a big fan): Hank Possum Hoss Willie
  18. Zeppelin wouldn't have been the same with any other combination of people. I've always heard the story that Jimmy Page had tried to talk John Entwistle and Keith Moon into playing with him and Plant. While I'd die to know what that would sound like, I suspect it wouldn't be anywhere near as good as either Zeppelin or The Who.
  19. Yeah, this is spot on. I get why a lot of people find Yormark annoying, but without him it's hard to see the Big 12 not only surviving, but helping to destroy a conference that nearly destroyed it more than once.
  20. If Florida State isn't moving the SEC's financial needle, I can't see VA Tech or NCSU doing it.
  21. A well connected ISU guy said yesterday that the SEC has vetted FSU and Clemson and neither one is additive. Big 10 still cares about playing school and neither is AAU. Makes me think the SEC is done unless they can add Notre Dame. Also reinforces no Big 12 school is getting any kind of call from them (time to accept reality KU fans). I think Big 10 still might want UNC/UVA/Miami. FSU and Clemson need to decide if being in the Big 12 is better than being in the ACC minus them.
  22. Holy shit, that looks like it slams.
