  1. I absolutely would have died as a single man post college.
  2. First 3.5 years of college were my real "go" time. Met my wife right at the start of 2nd semester senior year and we've been together since then. I had a lot of fun in what was in retrospect a fairly short window. And thankfully that window (2003-2007) was prior to constant videos of everything.
  3. That guy legit had the best arm talent I've ever seen in Ames. $.10 brain, unfortunately. Fairly mobile too.
  4. IIRC, that was Herman. People were making a big deal about him coming back to Ames (he was OC here under Paul Rhoads). Our QB was stoned to the gills during the game. Campbell knew it. We had a 10 day lay off before heading to Norman as a 30 point underdog. Campbell benched the idiot starter, put the 3rd stringer in, and the rest is history.
  5. Remarkably similar story to me. I was mostly too daft in HS to realize that I had some opportunities while also being unwilling to put myself out there and get shot down, when I realized that I might. My ego couldn't handle it. I ended up losing my virginity to a very aggressive chick at a party the week before my 18th birthday, and that gave me the confidence I needed to succeed in college. At pussy I mean. Not school.
  6. This is describes my evolution from HS to college fairly well. I guess I'm distinguishing between the guys who wear their horniness on their sleeve and the ones who don't. I think internally nearly every teenage boy is a horn dog. Some of them advertise it more blatantly than others. Booger in Revenge of the Nerds was a horn dog. Donal Logue in the Tao of Steve was a pussy hound.
  7. A) it's a joke. I don't give a shit if my daughter is gay or straight. B) I do think women are less prone to get caught up in this really creepy, toxic, possessive "the world owes me human possessions" mindset
  8. I think you're on to something here. The horn dog is definitely a different species from the pussy hound. I knew a kid in HS who was the absolute definition of a horn dog. He was always trying to score porn, constantly talking about jerking off and how he wanted to screw pretty much every woman on the planet. He was just very publicly horny at pretty much all times. He never had a girlfriend in HS and I don't know if he really figured it out later in life either (haven't seen the kid in 20 years). A pussy hound generally has a lot more self control/regulation, and like you stated, are often extremely focused. Especially on getting pussy, which is imperative on essentially killing off your inner horn dog. There's nothing women find more off putting than that open horniness. If a horn dog can't get that under wraps, he ain't going to get any, and you're now hurtling towards incel status at warp speed.
  9. It was only worn once - a loss to Texas in Jack Trice on a Thursday, where it was paired with these awful charcoal grey alts we were using. The uniform I posted up thread is light years better than this shit. The grey alts only came close to working one time, and that was when we paired them with white jerseys and helmets in Stillwater the year before.
  10. If this trend continues, I might just start hoping my daughter is a lesbian.
  11. Well, our marketing department shit this turd out in (checks notes) 2017: You should see Iowa fans whenever someone wears a black alternate.
  12. Holy shit that is awful. But VERY representative of that era’s aesthetic.
  13. Great book. I’ve read everything Klosterman has ever wrote. His background (and ingrained worldview as a result) is extremely similar to mine, except I ended up more like his older brother who took over the family farm. Hell, he even looks like my best friend’s brother.
  14. I’m from a very small town and it’s absolutely the reason my youth experience had a heavy Gen X vibe. We were very much 3-5 years behind on a lot of cultural trends.
  15. It’s the fucking mom jeans
  16. I’m an elder millennial (‘85) and I wanted to get pussy because, well, it’s fucking awesome. There was nothing societal about it. My brain was just wired with a high sex drive. It sounds like yours is less so. There’s nothing wrong with that either, so long as you’re comfortable with yourself and others. None of this makes you a “man”. But guys who actively despise women because they can’t convince any of them to have consensual sex are definitely not real men.
  17. I've regularly served backstrap that people thought was beef loin before I told them what it was. Our deer are basically eating the diet of a beef cow, just roaming through corn and soybean fields and eating that all summer long.
  18. God, I had forgotten that logo. At least your unis were fine. Or at least I remember them being fine. Good lord standard definition was dog shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jef5UFUHxlU
  19. God, all that shit is so late 90's-early 00's.
  20. I hate those things. We were always rated "worst uniforms in college football" in those days. The whirly bird was busy as hell, and the blue accents were dog shit.
  21. Some mild tweaks to ours (shoulder stripes, and using white on the jerseys) that I think improve them. Previous version:
  22. Have you had venison from a deer that lived in corn country?
  23. They're 16 seasons deep. Of course there's some crap episodes. When it's on, it's at a level of funny that even Larry David can't pull off. The 5th season of Sunny is the funniest season of any television show, ever, IMO. It was just straight heaters.
  24. My Top 5 sitcoms: Sunny Parks Curb Seinfeld Arrested Development If Trailer Park Boys is a sitcom, it probably bumps AD. Or I'd just merge Curb and Seinfeld cause it's all Larry David.
