  1. Yormark is nothing like previous Big 12 leadership. Other than he pissed off Texas fans. Prior to his comments about the UT/TTU game, people on this board were constantly posting shit like "where was this guy when we were still in the league?". It is not possible for the Big 12 to achieve the same financial ends as the SEC and the Big 10. It is a complete and utter waste of time for the new Big 12 to think that way and try to position themselves as such. He's aggressively positioning the league to be the best of what's left, and has the schools within rowing together in that direction. A lot of the shit he does looks ridiculous, but his job is to maximize value and keep the league afloat and he's crushing it on that end. I don't like his demeanor, or some of the things he's done, but it's a necessary evil in the current landscape of college sports. I understand why people here don't like him, but he's nothing like Dan Beebe or Bob Bowlsby in any way, shape, or form.
  2. Correct. And much of this is driven by things that the universities themselves have absolutely 0 control over.
  3. The schools that were the most upset about the LHN left the Big 12 over a decade ago.
  4. Georgia Tech had a choice to leave the ACC. There was nothing the Big 12 could do in 2021 to keep Texas and Oklahoma. The only thing the Big 12 schools could have done was go back in time 80 years and ensure they became powerhouses, and done some kind of crazy shit to dramatically change the demographics of the states they were in so they had the brand name cache to satisfy fans, and more importantly, have the viewers and fanbases to keep the TV networks happy. That you see these situations as even remotely similar is bizarre. We all know the Big 12 will have lower ratings than the SEC and Big 10. The networks know this. That's why they're paying them less. The Big 12 will still outdraw the rest of college football. This has been hashed, and rehashed, over and over and over. You aren't cracking any kind of code, and no one is really arguing against this greater point.
  5. I've kinda been out (kineduh bin oat) since the end of Season 2, but this looks great. I didn't know the actor's name, but immediately recognized Lamorne Morris from "New Girl" where I always really enjoyed his demeanor and timing.
  6. If a good looking blonde who's told the entire world she's into anal can't find love, I think it's pretty clear that there's something completely off.
  7. I just saw clips of his special in the background while surfing through Netflix, and I get that they're just small clips, but it all seemed absolutely awful. I think he's popular because he's a good looking guy in a field that's not exactly dominated by good looking guys.
  8. You can rely on the other dude's money.
  9. Yeah, UT and Bama are fine if they win their leagues. It's the Pac I could see getting shafted. Those schools are bigger brands than TCU, but they might not be big enough here. Given that this appears to be the committee's last season to play kingmaker with 0 objective requirements, I could see them going out in style. Some buddies and I were talking about this in a group chat. I realize that orange isn't flattering, but he's pushing Mangino territory.
  10. Love those Army unis. Don't care for that Navy helmet at all, TBH. Busy as hell.
  11. Yeah, I guess when you pan the landscape, you can't/shouldn't leave out the Pac champ, undefeated Georgia, undefeated FSU, and 1 loss Texas with a Big 12 title. The thing I don't trust is if the Pac has a 1 loss champ (fairly plausible), that champ is a considerably lower brand than OSU or Michigan, and my trust in the committee to do the right thing in the face of bringing in a bigger brand is nil. It's probably irrational, but I expect them to do anything possible to put the biggest brand possible into that spot.
  12. I’ve done two before, but our folks absolutely hate hosting the same day as one of the others, as we’re constantly watching the clock to be on time for the next one, so instead of double booking we just do days that aren’t the actual holiday. Keeps the stress lower for sure.
  13. I personally prefer tomatillos to tomatoes, and can pretty much always find them, so it's a no brainer on my end to just go full tomatillo.
  14. I assume this is in reference to the hot sauce I inquired about in Steel Shank? I want to make that as well as the Ninfas sauce. But I might just dick around with this recipe on Friday to kill off the baby japs my buddy gave me. Or just sautee them and make breakfast with them, eggs, and what will likely be leftover ribeye from Thursday at my dad's.
  15. I have a bunch of tiny japs that came in late from a buddy's garden. This seems like a perfect use-up for them, but I wonder how the ratio computes. These things are a fraction of a typical grocery store one.
  16. I'm very interested in trying this, but my question is what you use to prevent the veggies from charring/sticking while you boil? Will there be enough water/juice from the tomatillo to create the liquid?
  17. I think that the 1 loss Michigan or Ohio State team still goes.
  18. From the time I was in junior high until I graduated, my dad, brother, and I would watch this on Christmas Eve, after church.
  19. Hays has a very solid brewery, IIRC. Some of the regulars at Toppling Goliath back when my wife worked there had family out that way and would always bring some back when they visited. So I guess you could warm up with that after the game.
  20. Not sure if I'll have the usual updates or not. Nothing has really changed with the in-laws. BIL is now 32 and living at home, getting stoned every day, and claiming he can't afford to go rent his own place even though he has a stupid BMW sedan with a racing stripe that he could sell for enough to make a down payment on a house. He's made some occasional threats of self harm but refuses to do anything other than smoke weed to address his mental health issues. FIL still has a tendency to get irrationally angry about politics and interject it out of nowhere thanks to his buddies sending him YouTube conspiracy theorist videos. Of course, knowing full well that my wife and I are on the other side of the fence. MIL still nags him before he's actually behaving in a problematic fashion, which has a tendency to instigate the problematic behaviors. Years ago I pretty much always took his side, but as time has worn on I've come to the conclusion that his anger is getting worse, my MIL's frustrations are more justified, and he should probably do something about it. The wild card in hopefully reducing the drama is our new daughter. She was born in August, and they're all absolutely enamored with her and thus far seem to try and always be on their best behavior in her presence. I don't know if that's a sustainable solution to their issues, but it's definitely not hurting anything. If they want to scream at each other and threaten various forms of self harm when we aren't around, then I guess that's their prerogative. We're getting together there on Saturday, and I just hope I can convince my wife to head home before Farmageddon kicks (7PM). We both have to drive, so the booze will be very minimal, and I'd have to imagine that will have a tangible effect on things too.
  21. We’re perpetual underdogs. You’re perpetual favorites. Its not THAT surprising IMO.
