  1. The voice gave it away. But she certainly looked different than most everything else she’s been in.
  2. Can't speak to ProTax, but Five Stone is either $59, or a percentage in the reduction of taxes. Because go the HS cap, my taxes weren't reduced, even though they were able to knock off over $120K of appraised value. So I paid them $59.00. I think it's money well spent, based on the anticipated future increases.
  3. This is where I'm at. I used Five Stone, and I'll be paying them something (since they changed their model to have a minimum even if no tax reduction due to HS cap), but to me it's money well spent since I intend to be in this house until my kids graduate high school at least (and my youngest is only 9 months old), and it will save me taxes years down the road.
  4. Going to Durango at the end of the week. My wife said she was disappointed the forecast calls for rain. I told her we'd be out playing in it.
  5. TBH, something that has been around since the early 80s qualifies as "old Austin" at this point. Signed, a person who was born in the early 80s.
  6. I'd be more concerned about the drinking water (or lack thereof) up that way. https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/central-texas-drinking-water-crisis/
  7. They aren't. I've never liked the beans at Chuy's. I went a few months back with a vegan who asked about them, and the waitress proudly said the refried beans were vegetarian. This was my reaction, if you replace Econo-Save with Chuy's:
  8. Nebraska and New Mexico are also in different time zones. Your move, catholic joe.
  9. I think you mean “calm down Whitey.”
  10. Not how much it costs, how much TCAD says it's worth. Bought it for considerably less, and I only bought in 2020.
  11. I’m in a similar boat. Got about $120k knocked off. Still about 30% higher than 2021 (It was about 47% higher before protest) and my taxes aren’t impacted due to HS cap. I’m still glad I protested, as the floor from which they can increase is significantly lower.
  12. Finished it last night. What a great ride. In for season 2.
  13. If the family member gets burnt out on trademark work and wants to change gears and practice family law for SEVERELY REDUCED PAY send them my way. I kid. But really, my associate attorneys make around $90K first year, 6 figures in years 2+, and it's realistic to make partner here if you like the work and are a good fit. And we have a "leave at 5:00 and leave the work at the office" culture because, to be honest, in family law, if the courts aren't open there's not much I can do. That's not to say we never work nights or weekends, but it's not every day/every week. Plus, I guarantee you that a family law attorney is in court more than anyone except for a criminal law attorney. Several of my associates have handled jury trials in their first year or two. We don't have the same benefits as big law firms, but we also don't try to burn out our attorneys. Anyway, I'm in Austin, and I'm never not hiring. If the right fit comes along we'll make it work. Putting this here more for future people perusing this thread than the OP.
  14. Look out for the 2050s!
  15. Yeah, except you intentionally let corn dry on the stalk in a lot of contexts (like grain corn instead of food corn), so may have been intentional (irrigation still possible even in this drought from LCRA). Source: Grew up in a community that was known for growing corn, and spent lots of times driving though "dead" cornfields that were that way intentionally. Edit to add: if your trust yankees, this was also easily found with a google search: https://www.nny360.com/artsandlife/why-is-corn-left-drying-up-in-fields/article_504b81c5-ede0-5798-b0f0-c8696315226f.html
  16. Saw this on Reddit, thought it nailed it: Instead of Kim's death, we got the death of Jimmy McGill tonight.
  17. Listen no one on this message board besides you knows the difference
  18. So glad that they have them all back in New Jersey (Like Dr. Oz), and not spread out around the globe. I was worried this season was going to drag if they were not all together.
  19. The one next to Eddie Vs? Nope, shut down last year. I actually bought the huge sunset painting that was over the fireplace and it is hanging in my office. Rumor is that Fonda San Miguel is going in there. I assume/hope a 2nd location if that is the case, and not that they are moving.
  20. I just got flex passes. weird flex, but ok.
