  1. If the family member gets burnt out on trademark work and wants to change gears and practice family law for SEVERELY REDUCED PAY send them my way. I kid. But really, my associate attorneys make around $90K first year, 6 figures in years 2+, and it's realistic to make partner here if you like the work and are a good fit. And we have a "leave at 5:00 and leave the work at the office" culture because, to be honest, in family law, if the courts aren't open there's not much I can do. That's not to say we never work nights or weekends, but it's not every day/every week. Plus, I guarantee you that a family law attorney is in court more than anyone except for a criminal law attorney. Several of my associates have handled jury trials in their first year or two. We don't have the same benefits as big law firms, but we also don't try to burn out our attorneys. Anyway, I'm in Austin, and I'm never not hiring. If the right fit comes along we'll make it work. Putting this here more for future people perusing this thread than the OP.
  2. Look out for the 2050s!
  3. Yeah, except you intentionally let corn dry on the stalk in a lot of contexts (like grain corn instead of food corn), so may have been intentional (irrigation still possible even in this drought from LCRA). Source: Grew up in a community that was known for growing corn, and spent lots of times driving though "dead" cornfields that were that way intentionally. Edit to add: if your trust yankees, this was also easily found with a google search: https://www.nny360.com/artsandlife/why-is-corn-left-drying-up-in-fields/article_504b81c5-ede0-5798-b0f0-c8696315226f.html
  4. Saw this on Reddit, thought it nailed it: Instead of Kim's death, we got the death of Jimmy McGill tonight.
  5. Listen no one on this message board besides you knows the difference
  6. So glad that they have them all back in New Jersey (Like Dr. Oz), and not spread out around the globe. I was worried this season was going to drag if they were not all together.
  7. The one next to Eddie Vs? Nope, shut down last year. I actually bought the huge sunset painting that was over the fireplace and it is hanging in my office. Rumor is that Fonda San Miguel is going in there. I assume/hope a 2nd location if that is the case, and not that they are moving.
  8. I just got flex passes. weird flex, but ok.
  9. Thanks a lot, jerk.
  10. Plus it’s too damn hot these days.
  11. My younger brother is a maintenance technician on the wind turbines up in the panhandle. He laughs at your fear of heights.
  12. Gracias. Ordered a pair.
  13. Actually only Kim. He didn’t tell Jimmy. And Kim didn’t tell Jimmy.
  14. The latter. Getting her out of the apartment was the safest choice.
  15. At this point I’m rooting for 111 just to say I lived through it and all I got was heat stroke.
  16. Wrong. They mess up my order more than anyone.
  17. I believe the technical term is “horibad”
  18. The Hyperspace Capable Space Whale was what ObiWan was working on processing out in the desert in the first episode of the season if I'm not mistaken.
  19. I had a moment (off camera) like that at the Disch with my 3 year old and our next door neighbor’s kid this season at one of the mid week games (I think the Texas State game). In the middle of an inning they were bored, so I took them to go run around while the neighbor kids dad stayed to watch the visitors bat. We were playing in the grassy area behind the food trucks down the left field line and a ball lands and rolls to them. I told them “I think that’s a foul ball” and the neighbor kid picks it up. All the sudden a bunch of other kids come running over (from the actual stands I guess) and confirm it. My 3 year old didn’t care, but the neighbor did (she was 6 so had a better grasp on how lucky it is to get a foul ball). She ran back to her dad and he was as excited as that dad in the video for her.
  20. Liens also have to be renewed every 10 years or they are invalid. So almost no chance he has any real liability.
  21. Got a call the other week from a debt collector for a family member. They asked me to have the family member call. I started asking questions, they said they couldn’t answer. Couldn’t tell me an account number, how much was owed, etc. I asked why they were calling me, since I’m not the person responsible for the debt, I didn’t co-sign, etc. They claimed the person listed me “as a reference.” After a couple of minutes I sarted asking for the debt collector’s info - the person calling’s name; company address, phone number; etc. The caller got very defensive and asked why I wanted that info. I told them “I believe this is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act and I’m going to be making a report to the AG.” The caller got really quiet. I asked if they were still there. They said yes and asked if I could be put on hold so they could talk to a supervisor. When they came back on, they gave me their first name only (Fernando), the address, and phone number. And then they hung up. I filled out a complaint online with the AG and don’t expect anything more to come of it, but I’m sure that “Fernando” over there is shitting bricks, so at least I have that going for me.
