  1. My dad passed last year and anything of worth had already been pillaged or looted by his sister and her kids.   I never expected anything regarding an inheritance but he died broke living in a shitty apartment.   He'd always been a binge earner who worked hard for a while, made some money, then he would spend/blow it all on bad decisions and women.  But I repeat myself.

When I went to clean out the apartment  I offered my aunt and uncle the washer/dryer and whatever furniture they wanted.   The W/D were easily 15-20 years old.   I didn't expect anything other than I just needed it gone.   Whatever they didn't want was going to be hauled as junk.  None of it was in anything close to great condition but there was some decent stuff especially compared to the furniture I had seen at her house a few years ago.   It was one of the most disgusting experiences of my life.   The house reeked of a heavy mixture of pot (my uncle and cousins are MAJOR tokers), animals, urine and musty mildew.   I was there maybe 10-15 minutes and never sat down because nothing was clean enough to sit on.

My aunt, uncle and a cousin swung by with their pick up truck towing a decent sized trailer.   They took everything except the hospital bed he had been sleeping in the last 6 months of his life.  I mean EVERYTHING.   Mattresses, including the one from the hospital bed, and the recliner that he spent 15-18 hours a day in for the last 5 years of his life.  As they hauled it out, I was just thrilled because I could get rid of everything else via either the dumpster or a few trips to Goodwill.

As they finished tying everything down, my aunt turned and asked me if I could give them some gas money (they live barely 10 miles away) because "They were doing me a favor taking all this stuff."   I had already gotten a bid for hauling everything away as trash for $300.   I told her that I would rather they just put it all back and that I would have the junk guys come over.    I basically told her "You and your kids took advantage of him at will.   One of your sons got 2 separate DUIs in my dad's car that resulted in minor damage that he couldn't afford to get fixed because he only had liability and him budgeting to get the car out of impound because neither your or your son paid that.   I saw stuff when I was at your house that I KNOW was his so I think we're even at worst or you owe me.  So get gone."

My stoner uncle, who painted houses his whole life (paintbrush not contract killer) tried to act like the tough guy and I just turned around, went back into the apartment and closed the door.

I was seriously pissed off at the time but 18 months later it's cracks me up and is kind of a fitting end for him and his stuff.   Feast or famine his whole life had ended in famine.

dan ran 5-6 points ahead of trump in this district, so he's probably ok, but part of me wonders if someone particularly trumpy might win the primary and actually lose the general.  guess it might depend a bit on how redistricting goes.  based on vote shares the 2 additional districts would be democrats, generally, so they'll need to water down republican districts to pick up both.  is dan safe enough at +8 on his own?

He's safe.   Kingwood loves his, and Trump's, bullshit.

That guy is pretty damned legit (he led the NY AG's office case against Trump U), and this was an interesting comment

He's either not a bad witness or he has some real shit on Gaetz.   Hoping it's the 2nd but I'm not holding my breath.

Think we could sell these?  I am open to suggestions.  I have an LLC that we can use, but I am not sure of the ins and outs of donating to political causes.

Just run it like the Bannon Wall Building scam.   You'll make millions and never see a second of jail time.

This is exactly the thing that most grinds my gears.  Come on, Abbott.  At LEAST come out and strongly support (or preferably demand) that all children below the cutoff for vaccination wear a mask to public school.

    But, my free-dums!

    He’s resigning!

Well damn.   The way he started off sounded like he was going to try and ride it out.   I had to mute the TV and was working on something, looked up and saw the chryon that he's resigning.

Ted Cruz: This is Ted Cruz

You think Ted would really be sad about that?   He'd go gleefully.

Perhaps you missed this very, very important fact, which is often the deciding factor in determining the punishment for such offenses: he's white.

Had he been black, we'd have heard about this lawless thug who attacked cops and did not follow their lawful orders ("just follow the cops' orders, and you won't have any trouble!") was rightly sent away to prison for years.

I can understand how you missed that important fact, as the article glossed over it.

He would have been lucky to go to prison if he was black.    Most likely, he'd have been in a body bag.

They aren’t going to do that. I know you are a terminal pessimist, but at that point, you will see the military step in and quash it. I guess there is the small but not negligible chance the military could back such a play but I wouldn’t lose any sleep at night over that possibility.

In my opinion the most likely scenario for violence would be local agitators, and I really don’t think that happens on much of a scale. Absent privation, most people don’t get riled up enough to start shooting each other

The fact that we're even having conversations about how the military will act/react pretty much means we're screwed.
