  1. Wait until you find out where most of our Swiss cheese comes from.
  2. I've always wondered how thing would have turned out for the Germans if they had acted like liberators in Ukraine, Belarus, etc and co-opted more of the populace to their side. Sure, Hitler disliked Slavs a whole hell of a lot but a not insignificant number of those in western Russia who weren't enthic Russians would have probably willingly gone along like some of their neighbors did.
  3. It better be fucking bacon.
  4. Can those be used to keep Cruz, Vance, Hawley, et al out as well?
  5. Yeah, they talked about how making it back out was a golden ticket home. They couldn't afford to let them get shot down again and then be used by the Germans to uncover the network that got them out.
  6. Looks like something the Russian should be transporting ammo in to the front.
  7. I realize that a lot has changed over the past 2-3 years with the coups and such but doesn't France still kind of have a presence in the Sahel?
  8. Saw Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel at AT&T Stadium last Saturday. They both put on a good show but at their age it feels kind of like looking at zoo animals. She's 75 and he's 74. Both are still entertaining but clearly had a little trouble on stage. FWIW, AT&T is a horrible place to see a concert. We only paid $70 each for our tickets and I watched more of the show on the giant screen than I did the actual stage. Bily has a terrific backing band that can help fill in the vocals a little and his rhythm guitarist (Mike DelGuidice) has an outstanding voice. That guy could belt it out. During River of Dreams they broke into Tush by ZZ Top with him singing. Then Billy played piano while Mike sang Puccini's Nessum Dorma. That was absolutely amazing. During the encore they did a few parts of Zeppelin's Rock and Roll when they finished out with You May Be Right. It was a fun show overall. I saw Billy years ago when he and Elton toured together and he obviously sounded better but for $80 a ticket this was fun. For those who are interested... Billy and Sting are playing the Alamodome in October. Sting played The Woodlands in October and even though he's up there in age too he still sounds good. And here's a few pics...
  9. Mining, I really hope your will specifies which WWII musuem gets all of your stuff. Please, please, please don't let someone toss all of that in the trash one day. Might possibly even document it all and then send that list to the museum's curator you pick and let them know it exists.
  10. Takes hogging to a whole new level.
  11. Yeah, I know. Something else that jumped out at me... Buck Compton (Bob) and Rosie went on to have very distinguished legal careers followng the war.
  12. I'm disappointed in the finale but realize why they did it the way they did. I think Rosie walking into the death camp and Egan's flag raising were pretty heavy handed/sappy but then I have to remember that a lot of Americans really have no clue about WWII and the Holocaust. I would have preferred they just showed Rosie's conversation with the old man.
