  1. You realize we're having this conversation because someone asked what all the hoopla was about right lol You need to calm your crazy ass down sometimes before you bust a blood vessel in your eye
  2. That seems a little on the nose and it's 3rd hand info but ick if true
  3. Lol do you think the average fan gives a shit about what Kirby Hocutt has to say. He is a politician after a soundbite and the internet chatter that fuels shit like this is not real life. All this over pieces of bread, my position is literally can we please talk about literally anything else. I could not possibly care less. About this or any grievances anyone has about what ADs and/or conference commissioners have to say to each other.
  4. Fair lol I also think it's possible I am being far too charitable in this instance, I'm just not sure
  5. In the short term yeah there's gonna be backlash like that, again from the dumbest fans, but I guarantee you nobody's going to care in a few weeks. It's just not that important to most fans. There's a big thread about it on the Tech On3 board and most people are just like "Meh".
  6. Things are going to reach a boiling point and a bunch of settlers are going to get killed, and they're going to deserve it, unlike the Oct. 7 victims.
  7. TLDR it got Streisand'd by the Big 12 office in the offseason so the fans said fuck you and the tortilla throwing has been amplified this season, and then the Kansas coach made a big deal about it in the week leading up to our game, then he lied about someone throwing a knife from the stands at one of this assistants and then the Big 12 fined him for lying about it and also fined us for throwing tortillas. Big 12 then amped up the fine so Tech officials said enough is enough and banned tortilla throwing. The dumbest fans are making a big deal about it on Twitter and everyone else is just shrugging their shoulders. It'll be forgotten about soon enough.
  8. I think the bottom line here is if this dude was a secret Nazi, there'd be way more out there to find than this. There always is. There's ALWAYS smoke. We should be cheering for people who were indoctrinated and subsequently realized what was what like him instead of tossing them aside for a tattoo that probably meant nothing to him but "a scary looking skull" or whatever in his early 20s. And yeah, there's always a chance that he becomes Fetterman 2.0 but looking at all the shit he's written over the last 15 years it certainly doesn't seem like he's anything like that piece of shit.
  9. Nah it's just fans being dumb on Twitter most people don't really give a shit It'll be forgotten in a couple weeks
  10. I sweatergod if you're just saying "we need more cops" I'm going to shit on your lawn.
  11. That's exactly what it means, more or less. I think imma runs all his own bare metal unless I remember that wrong
  12. Who names they kid arterio anyway
  13. Yeah we have our wonderful rural Central Texas infrastructure to thank for that. There are two fiber providers here which are our primary and primary backup. Tertiary backup is a fixed wireless connection and Starlink is the nuclear option. Kill me. e: I could add a couple of 5G solutions as additional nuclear options but those aren't really supposed to be used for business infrastructure.
  14. Yeah. We did failover testing like 2 months ago but we haven't done it since we started migrating hardware. Oops. Fuck me for assuming my MSP knew what the fuck they were doing.
  15. Oof. Changing cores is not fun, I don't envy you that process.
  16. I have a primary (AT&T) and two backups. The failovers didn't fucking work because were are in the middle of a migration and my MSP apparently had some routes configured incorrectly. I was absolutely fuming yesterday. 3~ hour downtime for a bank is a fucking disaster. Luckily our drive-through location down the street was still operational so I was able to send people down there to do their transactions.
  17. We (small bank) have bare metal on prem and bare metal in a datacenter in Austin and we still got fucked and were down for hours yesterday because my MSP had our fucking failover routed incorrectly so when this outage took out our primary ISP they couldn't reach our on prem hardware to fix it until our primary ISP came back up. Sometimes I just miss the days where I could unplug shit and plug it in somewhere else and shit would just work.
  18. I mean, honestly, when you consider we have like 15 years of posting we can go through (and people have, with a fine tooth comb) with this guy without a hint of right wing or anything even resembling Nazi sentiment, and the fact that he's openly talked about how he was indoctrinated by the military and his time as a Blackwater operator, I find his explanation that he got the tattoo in Croatia as an active duty Marine and had no clue what it was to be perfectly plausible. Especially considering I, as a terminally online leftist, had no clue what the SS Totenkopf even looked like until this morning.
  19. Interesting, that makes me wonder if my paternal grandfather ever discussed the Estes fiasco with LBJ, I'm sure they probably did. I wish he was alive so I could ask him. He was pretty good friends with LBJ back in his post-presidency days. I think, certainly, that some offenders are just as you describe - incorrigible. I've known a few in my lifetime as well. I don't think we (the US) engage in any kind of serious rehabilitation efforts and that colors people's perspectives on rehabilitation as a possibility in general. I think I'm certainly ok with rapists/child molesters/murderers getting a single strike, but I certainly don't agree with your attempt to conflate child and cop killers. There is basically never a reason to kill a child, there could be any number of valid reasons to kill a cop, unless you believe that cops are infallible arbiters of justice for some weird reason. The circumstances, in that case, do actually matter.
  20. I am genuinely unsure of what you're trying to say. Are you saying that rehabilitation of criminals is a useless endeavor, or that we should keep all kinds of criminals incarcerated for life? Is being a thief an equivalent level of criminality as a rapist or murderer? Not attacking you here, I just feel like this is really disjointed and I don't understand what point you're trying to make.
  21. God damn I forgot about why he stopped posting. What a day that was.
  22. In WW1, we used phosgene and mustard gas. During WW2, we had chemical agents deployed all over Europe and parts of Asia to be used against Germany and Japan but it was [thankfully] never deemed necessary. Use of agent orange (allegedly) and other chemical agents (not allegedly) in Vietnam. Other allegations (unproven) of use in various Cold War conflicts, namely Korea. Many, many, many thousands of American soldiers over the past 100ish years subjected to chemical weapons testing (mostly minorities). We still had missiles armed with VX gas and other chemical/nerve agents up until like 2022. All it would take is one psychotic administration with a Nazi running the Pentagon to bring shit like this back. Pretending it's all part of the past and we've moved on from shit like this is exactly the way you end up repeating history.
  23. Anyone who presents a populist, pro-worker message is an enemy of the DNC. They're uniparty with the GOP in this respect. Especially if you have called yourself a socialist in your past. They're still trying to ruin Mamdani even though it's pretty much a lost cause at this point.
  24. All I will say (not in response to you, just musing) is that it's an interesting piece of American Exceptionalism to pretend the US government/military is somehow above using chemical weapons. History never happened!
