  1. I think this is an important point to remember when people complain about inconsistencies between the book and the show, for example the level of brutality of Blood & Cheese. The brutality described in the book is coming from a history text written by a single maester, entirely based on secondhand information provided by the Hightowers and almost certainly greatly exaggerated in order to portray Rhaenyra in the most negative light possible. Basically, the book is an unreliable narrative and the show is trying to portray how things really went down. At least that's my interpretation.
  2. Yeah, that's what I fuckin' thought. Pussy.
  3. I am still trying to figure out what you're trying to ask me. Also, it's not my fault if you started reading this thread a month ago or whatever and can't be bothered to read the pages and pages and pages of discussions that have been had over the last 8 months. I don't blame you, necessarily, but I'm also not going to repeat myself ad nauseum when we already played the Do You Condemn game for like 4 months straight when this latest conflict started.
  4. It's hard to directly root for him, because he is a complete monster with absolute power, but it's also hard not to feel sorry for him at least. Mainly because his psychological damage was manufactured by those who sought to control him rather than nurture him. I will admit that I was rooting for him to kill everyone in that room and I wasn't disappointed.
  5. What? Are you crazy? What are you even asking?
  6. Do you even know what point you're trying to make or are you just looking for another shitty gotcha? Are we back to playing the Do You Condemn game again? What does this have to do with what I actually said in my post? Did my post say Hezbollah and Hamas were good? Really think about what you're trying to say to me instead of just seeing a "war bad" post and then vomiting out pro-Israeli talking points that don't actually have a fucking thing to do with what I posted. I've said this plenty of times before, but Israel is more than welcome to wage whatever wars they'd like. It'd be nice if they weren't fully endorsed and paid for by the US government, by our tax dollars. You want to level Rafah? Fine, do it without our bombs or money. Want to wage war on two other fronts in Iran and Lebanon? Fine, do it without our bombs or money.
  7. Yeah this'll end well for everyone involved for sure. Israel doesn't have the money or the munitions to sustain a conflct just in Gaza, let alone a war on 3 separate fronts, at least. Which means we will be funding their war almost entirely. Love to see my tax dollars spent to start a 3rd world war.
  8. That episode was pretty damn good
  9. Idk why you're even trying. His next move is shooting up a school or some shit. He's beyond help.
  10. Always great when someone links an Ian Miles Cheong tweet as if it's some kind of mic drop. Dude unironically links neo-Nazi shit in the Palestine threads almost daily without even a shred of self awareness, it's remarkable.
  11. Oh come on, don't be a pussy. No one is saying they should even lose their jobs. But they demonstrably violated both the law and this dude's constitutional rights and should see at least some repercussions for it, even if it's just a censure in their record.
  12. My man, you need to think about what you're saying. If there's any entity in America you need to be extremely vigilant about protecting ALL of your rights with, it's the police. Not only that, but he was FAR more helpful than he should have been. It wasn't his building, even answering the door was a big mistake. Letting them in and allowing them to search was far beyond the pale of how helpful he ever should have been in that circumstance. Don't ask me, ask the guy who does the videos. That channel has reviewed literally thousands of police encounters, is almost always deferential to the police, and very rarely gives the police an F grade. Like, seriously, the COPS are the ones breaking the law here and you're still hung up on what the guy should have done. That should give you a clue that your perspective is warped in the wrong direction.
  13. You don't think cut and dry violations of constitutional rights are bad cop behavior?
  14. Cop defender has logged in I guess. Except they don't have legal authority to do any of that. Just being cops and being suspicious is not enough to do any of what they did. You're flat out, 100% wrong about the bolded part, and this is a textbook 4th amendment violation. It doesn't fucking matter that they didn't beat his ass, his rights were still violated and the cops didn't even bother trying to take basic investigative steps before making all their bullshit and unlawful demands. Not to mention they had absolutely no right to search the property without the owner's consent...the list goes on. The dude would have been well within his rights to tell them to go fuck themselves and shut the door in their faces, and then sue them if they escalated the situation.
  15. I mean, Yoda sat within feet of arguably the most powerful dark side practitioner in history literally hundreds of times without having a single clue. A powerful dark side user most certainly could sneak up on a seasoned Jedi, especially one that maybe has been sitting on his ass in a forest hut for a while not exercising that particular muscle. Plenty to criticize here but yet another Jedi being blind to danger isn't really one of them imo
  16. Directly related to this article I've linked about a dozen times: https://www.timesofisrael.com/for-years-netanyahu-propped-up-hamas-now-its-blown-up-in-our-faces/
  17. Yeah, he's absolutely a complete moron (and always was), but he was a legitimately good interviewer before the Spotify deal/COVID. He still platformed cooks and shitty people like Alex Jones regularly, but for every one of them there was a legitimately great guest like Bernie Sanders or Neil Tyson or Richard Dawkins etc etc. Back then he used to ask questions and listen, nowadays he is either openly combative with anyone that may not agree with his opinions, or he simply refuses to have them on.
  18. It's eerily similar to Kanye's weird behavior in the years leading up to his Nazi death spiral
  19. Yeah the open mockery of right-wingers has never been even a little bit subtle. I don't understand how anyone can just now be noticing.
  20. Yeah I think this is more specific to software engineering, which is a rather dubious label to begin with. I probably made it sound more common than it is, but I've met types like this quite a few times.
  21. Rogan's show used to be pretty good, but since the Spotify deal he won't really (with a small handful of minor exceptions) have anyone on the pod that challenges his beliefs in any way, when before that he legitimately sought out a wide range of viewpoints, had a ton of interesting scientific folks on, some politicians, etc etc. He's a legitimately good interviewer when he comes prepared and gives a shit. He doesn't really give a shit anymore. Like many Americans, COVID pretty much destroyed his brain and his guests nowadays are mostly dudes in the MMA orbit and cranks.
  22. I wouldn't say uneducated. You see this kind of personality in engineering a lot, especially if you're in software. Lots of people that will learn just enough to think they're smarter than everyone else but don't have enough self-awareness/sense to recognize what they don't know. Constantly trying to reinvent the wheel, etc. On top of that, there's almost no way he has anyone in his orbit that he respects enough to listen to when they tell him what he's saying is nonsense. If he's that twisted about Neil D. Tyson's very respectful critique, then there's no shot anyone close to him is getting through to him even a little bit. I mean, just think about this for a second: Imagine being fortunate enough to be able to send the most famous astrophysicist in the world a bunch of nonsense and gibberish, and then having him actually take you seriously and give you frank & honest notes like he would do for any of his scientific peers....and your response is to then throw a tantrum and put him on blast while you talk to a tiny little ninja turtle looking chimpanzee man on one of the widest reaching platforms there is. Wild shit.
