  1. Looks like he might have been using one of these or similar: https://bt-usa.com/products/station-six-9/
  2. The mods don't give a shit if the thread is about the middle east. Post whatever shitty info source you want, be as Islamophobic as you want as long as you don't directly attack another poster. South Korea news? They'll police that right away. Syria? Who gives a shit.
  3. Hope he died in agony. Rest in piss, fuckstick.
  4. It's funny because, if anything, Brisket is underselling it (at least as far as South Korea goes). Global trends aside, that country is deeply fucked up beyond all recognition. Most of the men behave like the worst American incels, there is an all out gender war going on over there that makes our petty squabbles over minor things like *pfft* abortion and shit look minor by comparison. They made the "too small" (finger-pinch) hand gesture a literal hate crime because men in South Korea got so upset about it. If you're interested, go look it up, it's actually fucking wild. They live in what is probably the most hyper-capitalist country on the planet with a modern progressive veneer that barely conceals an incredibly oppressive caste system that would make any Japanese person blush. They're literally teetering on the brink of all out civil conflict at all times, with the constant threat of invasion from the North, and everyone tries to pretend things are perfectly fine most of the time. When that powder keg explodes it's going to be epic, and not in a good way. The Ben-Hur remake kind of way.
  5. I'm generally not a big fan of hour+ long episodes, but it's a good measuring stick for me personally that if I don't find myself looking at my phone unless I think it's absolutely necessary, then I'm connecting with the show even if it's "too long" by my estimation. I had a couple of those moments with the first 2 episodes but not with the 3rd. Hoping that indicates good things for the 2nd half.
  6. Don't worry I'm just as pedantic of a lore nerd about those franchises as well.
  7. Yeah this is where it gets murky, is what I'm saying. In the expanded universe written by Herbert's son, etc, yeah this is what happened and it seems the show is building on that. Dune Encyclopedia (written by a friend of Herbert, contributed to by Herbert, and based on a lot of Herbert's notes) says it was a battle between Lansraad houses. In the latter, the Sardaukar definitely existed prior to the imperium, in the former it's not spelled out but they probably existed as one of the armies fighting against the machines. It's kind of telling the show has made no mention of them, though.
  8. This is why it's murky...Herbert never delves into the history of the Sardaukar. What is "known" is only what House Corrino wants everyone to know. In the Dune Encyclopedia, the Sardaukar originate from the Sardau tribe native to Salusa Secundus, and House Corrino is founded by the Sardaukar leader.
  9. Rex's best bro doing things
  10. I don't think I agree. I thought that the flashback scenes were great, especially Tula's. Really helps flesh out their characters and motivations. I really enjoyed that episode.
  11. I'm not sure this is true, and it seems unclear to me. In the books, the Battle of Corrin, which is what leads to the establishment of house Corrino and the imperium, has nothing to do with the Butlerian Jihad (the war with the thinking machines). In fact, it all happens in the WAKE of the Jihad, decades later, and it's a political conflict. It seems that, in the show, they've made the Battle of Corrin be the ultimate battle against the machines that ends the Jihad. I could be wrong, but I believe the Sardaukar would have already existed either way, not necessarily as the empire's standing army, but definitely as an existing military force.
  12. Once again I will remind everyone that Twitter is not news and that Prong's tweet does not come from a real news agency. I would encourage everyone to seek out actual news outlets and not follow that account.
  13. He was obviously short lol some of y'all are fuckin wild e: They should still run a play
  14. Georgia is playing prevent too, GT should take advantage.
  15. You should instantly lose your job if you ever run prevent D with more than 5 seconds left in the game.
  16. Uh he lost the ball the instant of contact. You're crazy.
  17. And also elaborate on what you mean instead of dropping a one liner and dipping.
  18. Once again, Twitter isn't news. I'm starting to agree with Ana that Twitter embeds ought to be disabled. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israeli-tank-fires-3-south-lebanese-towns-lebanese-security-sources-media-say-2024-11-28/
  19. It's fine it's all just opinions anyway. I've had the same thoughts but I've never seen any data to actually back it up is all.
  20. Yup. Kicking the can down the road etc
  21. Cross posting, big news: https://www.npr.org/2024/11/26/nx-s1-5206389/israel-ceasefire-hezbollah-lebanon I don't believe the full details have been released.
  22. Big news here: https://www.npr.org/2024/11/26/nx-s1-5206389/israel-ceasefire-hezbollah-lebanon I don't believe the full details have been released.
  23. I'm not sure I agree with this. Feel free to post some, I'm certainly willing to have my mind changed, but 1I've never seen any sort of compelling evidence that there is any correlation between economic status/level of education and substance abuse. I have, on the other hand, seen studies over the years that suggest that the middle/upper class consume drugs/alcohol at either the same rate or a higher rate than those at a poverty level. On the other hand, there is a correlation with homelessness and substance addiction, but that adds multiple additional layers of hardship over simply being poor that would possibly lead someone to substance abuse. I would guess the answer is much more simple, and that's just the bleakness of their existence. I live in a rural area of central TX, out in the country but near a town that is objectively dying and lacking opportunity for basically anyone that isn't a fast food restaurant owner or has some sort of specialized practice (dentist, lawyer, etc). I know so many people who are barely hanging on by the skin of their teeth and any number of major (or even minor, but seemingly major in their eyes) life events lie in wait that could absolutely push them into a hopeless spiral that could quickly lead to suicide.
  24. Not necessarily true with regard to health care in general, spending doesn't necessarily correlate to quality of care. We vastly outspend everyone else for health care per capita and yet our quality of care is trash tier almost across the board. Hell, Cuba is poor as shit and spends peanuts per capita compared to the US and has better life expectancy, infant mortality, and overall outcomes IIRC.
